    Im feeling blue

Glad to hear your feeling better Amanda!
  2. Let see...I was rebanded 3/6/08 so I am 8 days out. Since Day of surgery I have lost 9 pounds. I did not have to do a pre op diet however I AM doing the same post op diet. 3/8 cup of food per meal really really sucks.

    Prayers needed

HazelEyes You are in my prayers. Take it from a person that has been through this surgery TWICE, you will be just fine. I am 4 days out and doing great. We all had the same emotions like am I doing the right thing, etc. Always remember this... "Heal me, O Lord, and I WILL BE HEALED; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

About a month abo I got a hellacious stomach virus therefore all the puking made my band slip. Dr. Asked me before surgery if he is able to stitch my old band back in place if that would be okay and i was joking with him that my insurance agreed fto pay for a new one...midas well get the latest and greatest. Well I honestly didnt think he would replace it but he did :sneaky: Kept my old port however.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I was originally banded December 2004 but recently had that band removed and replaced March 6th. Looks as if most of my Dec 04 bandsters have flown the coop so...since I was rebanded in March, can I be a shrinking shamrock?
  8. Janine, It could have been any of those variables that caused your band to slip, maybe just a bad combo. I had a stomach virus that did my band in. I was worried that my insurance company wouldnt pay for my replacement since I am at little over 200 lbs but they did. You should give it a shot.

    Aetna approved!

Hello all, I was originally banded in December 04 and my insurance company at the time, Pacificare covered the surgery. Recently because of a horrid stomach virus, my band slipped  . My new insurance company, Aetna EPO approved the removal and replacement last Friday and surgery is set for this Thursday March 6th. Add me to your prayers guys. I am hoping this surgery is a breeze like my last one  Good luck to everyone and their insurance companies!!!

    Aetna approved!

I had been sick for some time with various illness, URI, bronchitis and then a horrid stomach virus for days. I kept coughing at night and vomiting. Couldnt keep anything down...lost 18 pounds (that was nice but bad). I called my band doc and told them my symptoms and he said the night coughing and vomiting sounded like a slip so he sent me right in for a barium swallow....confirmed it had slipped. He said it wasnt a "Really bad" slip but it moved enough and in such a position that it would have to be surgically removed and replaced. I am very happy with the lap band. I miss being filled. I hate being able to eat like before  I will def keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery You will do GREAT!!

    Would you band twice?

My band slipped a few weeks ago due to a stomach virus and my ignorance of not getting unfilled. I am getting my band removed and replaced this Thursday. So, yeah...I am getting another. I believe the band is an incredible TOOL for weight loss. I am 3 years out from my original surgery. I have not reached my goal as I expected in this amount of time but it is still the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have been unfilled for a week and have had uncontrollable urges to eat like my prebanded years. I can not go back to that or I will be back to square one...and that isnt going to happen. You have to weigh the pros and cons and do what you feel is best for YOU. The new bands are supposed to be a lot better. My doc says they are supposed to be better against slipping and such. Talk to your doctor and discuss your fears. I told myself that if I fail with the 2nd band that I will consider a mini gastric bypass. I pray that will never have to be an option. Good luck to you and please keep us updated.

    Your Aetna experience?

Wow, Just found out that my Aetna EPO plan will remove and replace my band for a slip. WOOHOO!! Surgery this THURSDAY. I am very very happy because I have been unfilled for a week and I am having that hunger like the old days.
  13. Well, I am a little over 3 years out. I have had various illnesses the past 2 months that include a horrendous stomach virus where I had voilent vomiting thus causing my band to slip. I called my band doc a few days ago telling him that I could not stop coughing and puking at night so he had me go in for a barium swallow Thursday. I went and seen him Friday and he verified my band has slipped and that the barium seeped very slowly thru the band. When I seen him on Friday he told me that my slip is not real "bad" but the way it slipped needed for him to go in and fix it. He said usually on mild/moderate slips can fix itself after an "unfill" for a month or so but the way mine slipped wouldnt work. He also said that my Vanguard band would need to be replaced because this old Vanguard doesnt unsnap, it will have to be cut off. So, pending insurance approval my tenitive surgery date is March 6th. Bandsters, please get unfilled if you are going through any type of gastroenteritis until you are well. I also had a URI/bronchitis/sinusitis where I coughed so hard I puked a lot. I cant tell you how angry I am at myself for not telling my band doc sooner. So, everyone keep me in your prayers. My 1st surgery was a breeze and I hope this one will be too.

Good bye old band/Hello new band

MRP3333, I am so glad to hear you have had no problems rebanding after removal.

Good bye old band/Hello new band

Ray, I wonder how come I see some rebanders having to wait and some get another put back on the same time they remove it? I would flip if I had to wait and have the surgery AGAIN!! I am sorry

Good bye old band/Hello new band

Hey Linda, My BMI is I think around 34 now. The business office told me that they think Aetna (my ins) will replace the band. They said that replacing bands because of slips is usually easier to get away with approvals. I do know that my plan at Aetna will pay for 1 bariatric surgery in the insureds lifetime. Thankfully Pacificare paid for my original band.

    Newbie from Oklahoma

Hello! I am a fellow Okie! I live in OKC. My surgeon does lap bands only, no GBP. He told me that he would fill mexican bands back in 2004, you might ought to give him a call and see if he still will. His name is Svein Mattie Holsaeter with Surgical Specialists of Oklahoma (405) 232-4211. Also, I asked him how many he has done and he told me over 100 and that was back in Dec 2004. Good luck!

    Fill doctor?

I am not sure if he fills the Swedish band or not. Give him a call and see And yes, he hits my port every time, but he put it there and knows exactly where he put it.
  19. Hope4Jen

But how can sex NOT slip the band?

I am in Martial Arts and my doc told me that if I get kicked in the port area it would be really sore but it should not hurt it. I plan on wearing an ab guard when I spar so I am not too worried about it. As far as sex, it hasnt been a problem for me

    Fill doctor?

I asked my doc one time if he did fills for patients he didnt band and he said he did. He is in Oklahoma City tho. His name is Svein Holsaeter, he doesnt talk much but he is a wonderful doc! 405-232-4211

    Worried!

Hey guys. I have a Vanguard band and I am up to 8 cc's and I can still eat too much. There for a while after my second fill I PB'd often. I felt I was too tight, but now its a totally different story. I admit I havent made great food choices lately, but I dont think I should be able to eat a whole hamburger shoud I?? I feel restriction at times when I dont chew well. I sometimes PB. So I know the band is working. I just dont understand what is going on with me. I have a call into my surgeon. I hope I dont have a leak or something.

    Fills without Flouro

I am on my 2nd fill and I never had flouro. He found it the first time with no problems. He numbed me up good so I didnt feel a thing and it was over with in 5 minutes.
  23. Hope4Jen

    Where's your port?

Mine is about 3 inches above my belly button and just a little bit to my left.
  24. Hope4Jen

    Filled at Surgery?

I have the Vanguard band and I was filled with 2 cc's at surgery.
  25. I woke up with the left side of my ab feeling sore. I felt around and I think I feel my port over there! I felt around where its supposed to be and I dont feel anything there. Can it move? If it did, is that a problem?
