Hey guys, I went for my first fill 2 weeks ago. He pulled 2cc's of Fluid out of my Vanguard band. I had no idea that he gave me a fill during surgery, but that would explain the restriction I had. Anyways, he put 4.5 cc's back in and I dont feel much restriction. In fact, I get hungry about 2 hours after I eat. I can eat a little bit more too. Some days I feel more restriction than others but its all so inconsistant. I am scheduled to go back in 4 weeks. Should I try to get another fill or stick this out for a while?

I eat a lot of chicken. I have been trying other things maybe that is why. I think your on to something. THANKS!

Sounds like your doin great Jack! Your right, hunger is managed far easier now than pre band. I thought I was gonna DIE during the pre op diet!

Your right, no one is ever happy with their weight. We should appreciate our success.

OYE, stomach virus' and stomach flu have been a major concern of mine. I keep hand sanitizer handy whenever possible. ::crossing fingers that we dont suffer stomach virus/flu problems::

Well, I had my first fill on 1/21. It was quite an experience. It didnt hurt really. Just a bee sting from the shot to deaden the area. He pulled out 2cc's. YES, he put in 2cc's during surgery! I didnt think that they did that but he sure did. Then he filled it back up with 4.5cc's. No wonder I had some restriction. So I honestly do not feel any different than I did before my fill. I still get hungry and I think I can eat too much. :: I dont feel full until I finish and realize that I am stuffed.

I have taken bigger bites of food than I should a couple of times, usually when I am starving. What is that hung up, painful as hell feeling that happens when I dont chew well? I know how to prevent it, but it has happened a couple of times and it hurts soooo bad. Where exactly is the food getting stuck at? I have no fill yet. My mom had hiatel hernia surgery and she says she has the same problem if she takes too big of a bite and doesnt chew well. Makes sense as they wrapped her stomach around her esophagus but what makes ours do that? Please tell me I am not the only one lol.

I am officially a Bandster!! I had my surgery on Thursday. He took my gallbladder out also. I had over 30 stones in there! He gave us 3 of them, they are funny lookin. I am thinking about gettin some google eyes and some of that craft pipe cleaner and make a little bug out of them hehe. Think I can sell em on ebay? LOL I am feeling great. I am glad its over. Now I can just heal and enjoy my band.

I just started my pre op diet today. UGG. Its so hard. I woke up this morning so hungry and all I could have was a dagum shake grrr. OH then the lovely shake and half sandwich for lunch. I am so looking forward to dinner. My 3 oz of lean meat, 1 cup of salad and 1 cup of non starchy veggie LOL. Please tell me my tummy is gonna shrink and in a few days it wont be so bad. THe last 3 days is full liquid...cant wait for that!! I can and will make it thru this...

I have noticed that not everyone has to do a pre op diet. Whassup with that?? LOL. I guess all docs are different. Good luck to you Pat, my December band buddy!!

I went for my Upper GI barium swallow thing this morning. All I can say is the seltzer stuff wasnt bad, but the barium was less than desirabe, but tolerable all the same. It was so neat to watch it flow to my stomach!!! Gross and neat all at the same time.

Thanks everyone for the kid words of support. I was fixing my 3 year old some mini ravioli's earlier and i popped one in my mouth without thinking. I felt like I just committed a deadly sin or somethin'.

Hello everyone! I have been lurking the past week or two not saying much cause I have been nervous but I got a call today and I am approved through Pacificare for surgery on December 9th! I am so nervous/scared/happy. I feel like a jumbled mess of emotions right now.

Way to go. I cant wait til I run for FUN. LOL. Turkey Trot....still lauging.

I have been waiting a week now for my pcp to write my insurance company a letter of consent. The first one he sent them was a faxed copy of a prescription and all it said was "Ok for surgery". Can you believe that crap?? I called yesterday and his nurse said she would check and call me back...havent heard didly. Should I call today and nag them? My insurance company is changing and I have to have this done by the end of the year!!

Yes, I am sure they cover it. My surgeons bariatric coordinator said that my insurance basically approved it but they need a few things first such as the letter for a final say so. She said as soon as I get the letter I should have a surgery date a few days after. I dont care for my PCP anyways. Last time I seen him I called and told them my ear hurt and I had a few other things to discuss with him. Just a small list of concerns, nothing major and he refused to talk to me about my knees cause they only fit me in for a 10 minute time slot. He told me to make another appt...didnt even say he was sorry...just rushed out of the room. I cried all the way home just becasue I felt like he didnt care. I had no idea they put their patients in a time slot.

Update!! I called and his receptionist is a Biznotch! She is all "you gotta be seen for him to write it"...I started complaining that no one told me this and she says "oh, I see that he has dictated a letter but its not back from the transcriptionist"....I ask how long that takes...she says she will leave a message w/transcription and have them rush it for me @@. She is prolly just telling me that cause I was MAD! I am so frustrated.
