And from experience.. fyi... Vitamin shots are better in the abdomen and or hip... arms HURT... I just had a B6 and they put it in my arm and it took three days for it to quit hurting.. like shoving cold molasses into the muscle...

I am almost 6 weeks out and there isn't anything I cannot eat as of yet... I had my first salad last Saturday and it was GOOD... I eat a lot of shrimp because it is high in Protein. I guess I have been lucky... I think the bottom line to whatever it is that you are eating is CHEWING, SPEED, and SPICE.... Not enough chewing and it hurts. Eat too fast and it hurts. Eat anything too spicy and you will suffer for it, at least this early anyway...

I am almost 6 weeks post op and I eat pretty much anything I want.. albeit a lot less of it but still what I want... I just had my first salad last Saturday and it was GOOD... You will be fine, your fear is nothing that any of the rest of us didn't feel also... Just remember that your unhappiness with your current situation is what has driven you to this point and it is so worth it in the long run...

I thought I was headed down the same path before my surgery. He didn't want to talk about it and was indifferent about me having it all... then came the attempts at sabotage.. junk food, going out to eat, and the like... I was already looking for another place to live because I really saw the end of the tunnel. I am almost 6 weeks post surgery and he has realized that I was dead serious about taking care of ME... When I stuck to my guns and my diets even with all the temptations and depression (from worrying about US), he has started to make a game out of it... We laugh about "how little" I eat... I finally convinced him to stop asking me what I want for dinner since I have no appetite and I only eat a few bites anyway LOL...
It all got better when I started worrying more about me than him... He is a grown man and I cannot force him to think or feel something that he doesn't... Only he can change HIM... I wish you luck..

There is a big difference between what they charge insurance and what insurance actually pays.
For example, I had an amnio once and the hospital charged 7,000, but ins said they are only allowed to charge 2,200, so less than 1/3 is what they got paid.
That being said, they can charge a self pay more because there is no one telling them they can't. At one of the hospitals that I work for the self pay cost was 24,000 and you still have to jump all the hoops, some of which will be covered if you have a reason to get it other than "pre op".
The outpatient clinic I contacted was 22,000. That includes 0 days in the hospital. And still the hoops.
I opted to schedule with Dr Garcia in Mexico for 4700. Hopefully that will work out OK.
Self pay = no hoops... the hoops are determined by the insurance companies.. No insurance, no hoops... All I had to do was tell the doctor what I wanted... The NUT, the shrink, the hospital, and the labs were all included in my price. Also included 1 year of follow up care. The only thing outside of that, that I had to pay for, was my after surgery meds.. Those were nearly 400 themselves..
Of course if you are not overweight and are doing it for a vanity issue, you will have a harder time finding a doctor to actually do the surgery but that was the ONLY hoop I saw...

unbelievable.......
Surgeon $29,279.00
Asst Surgeon - which is NOT covered - $16,061.22 - which I will fight against since I was NOT told there was an assistant surgeon
Hospital (1 night) - $42,227.20
Anes - $2,562.00
Pic line - $551.00
Lab work - $185.00
thank goodness for insurance.....just to think that we charge here in the US over 80K for a surgery and you can go to Mexico and pay under 10K....something is really wrong with this picture and Obama Care is NOT the solution, trust me.
Sad part is, that is what they charge the insurance company.... I paid cash for my surgery, 12.500 for EVERYTHING... anesthesia, hospital, surgery and all...

I don't get too much answers on a lot of my questions..I'm not special or anything..but need help!!..I need a vote..here's the question ..
1) I only have a week off of work..will I be OK?..I have an office job. How did you feel after 1 week?
2). Stay the night at the hospital or go home?
What are your votes ..please help!!
I don't mean to be rude but whether you stay the night in the hospital isn't up to a "vote"... as for the time off of work, everyone is different...

No drain for me, self pay in Texas and my doctor cauterizes when he does the cut... no bleed, no leak.. I have done the legwork and haven't found one person that had a problem after their surgery with him..

If you are doing the liquid portion of the diet, you are already cleansing... I can assure you, there is nothing left in there that the body hasn't either absorbed or expelled... if you're worried about doing it again? Do the 5 day pouch test... that will do the same thing..

Ask your doctor to prescribe you some Nexium... it helps

Ok... I had my blood work done nearly two weeks ago and I will be the first to admit that I haven't followed all the rules... I had to go to soft foods before most people because I couldn't tolerate any of the Protein drinks out there... I have pretty much eaten anything I want within reason, just not very much of it...
And the results are in... All my Vitamin levels were well within range except B1... Turns out the One a Day gummies have virtually NO B Vitamins... so tomorrow I have to go get a B1 shot and after that, I will be taking a B complex supplement until I am all out of the gummies.. Just bought a new bottle don't ya know... LOL..
After they are all gone, I will be looking for another Gummy that I can tolerate and has what I need... Protein and all levels were good... Yippee! Oh and I just broke my first stall... FINALLY!
Life is good... learning to cook small portion items so that I can have stuff to carry to work.... About to start night shifts after the first of the month.. this should be interesting...

I get most of mine from food and then supplement with an Adkins Protein drink... I have one in the afternoon that tastes just like a Starbucks Frappacino.. Caramel Mocha... as much as Protein Drinks have disagreed with me... as long as I don't have too much in one day, it doesn't bother me... I had to return the Unjury because I couldn't find a way to mix it that didn't tear my intestines up..

Well that could be one of two things.. either you are not moving as much as you normally did and they are getting stiff OR you are moving more than ever and they are adjusting...
-
Oh please... are you them? Everyone is different so how could you compare yourself to them and then call yourself a failure...? You will lose more, you will stall, get frustrated, and then start losing again.. everyone is different, be yourself and take care of YOU.

And for those of you calling your spouses need to eat in front of you "abuse"? Yeah.. you will have to get used to it..They do have the right to eat what and when they want, no matter what OUR choices are... Now the husband that called from Taco Bell? That was just plain mean and he would have paid for that but my BF has whatever he wants, when he wants and I had to learn to deal with the fact that there are limitations as a result of MY CHOICE.. Not his choice or anyone elses, MINE..
Friends that wave chocolate and act juvenile? Those aren't friends... those are childish acquaintances and they will pass with the wind... especially after you look at them and remind them where that chocolate will land on them in due time and you won't have that problem, thanks to YOUR choice...

And your body might very well expel some of the Protein but for those of us that couldn't tolerate ANY protein powders? We will take what we can get... http://calorielab.com/restaurants/sonic/sunshine-smoothie/14/2046 is the correct nutritional levels...
-
I called.a.few Sonic's around there and they didn't have any:(
They are not on my menus either but I asked and they made me one, no problem.. a small cost me 2.50

Omg now I dont want one at all 94 g of sugar over 300 cal!! I've never posted a link before so hopefully I'll get this right it's from tne live Strong website I had to Google it. Is this right omg that's a lot of sugar
Ok first off... you won't be able to drink the whole thing... and number two, I believe that is for a medium size and I cannot finish a small even at 5+ weeks out... The Protein level is what I had to have because I could not tolerate ANY Protein drinks that I could find... I allowed myself 1 a week.. you can have most anything you want as long as it is in moderation...
