    Low Bmi Questionnnnnn

Starting BMI 35.5... Almost three weeks out and a total of 25lbs down... very happy so far.. back to eating, albeit slowly and lightly but feeling much better..
  2. Right up until they put me under I second guessed myself.. I had to remind myself that if I could have "done it myself" I would have already done so and I wouldn't be in that position.. I too cannot tolerate "artificial" anything.. Aspartame gives me BAD headaches and everything else just tastes nasty... I was warned that my taste buds would change after surgery and they weren't kidding.. SF popcicles taste just like regular ones... I use Mio (Albertsons store brand) so that I can control the amount of flavor but that is rarely because of the aftertaste. I have about half a cup of coffee in the mornings now, I use regular sugar, just very little of it... As for the pain... the more you walk, the less you hurt in the long run. GasX strips are great for any gastric gas.. You will not be able to get down the 40+ ounces of liquid to start with... I haven't met anyone that can.. but you do the best you can.... Chewable Vitamins... I now use the One a Day gummie vitamins and they taste good...I take B12 by injection once a month just to keep my levels up... but I have always had Vitamin level troubles....

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I even tried the protein powder in Lactaid "milk".... no go... it has something to do with the "sugar" in the milk and whey... No worries.. I am getting my protein through food now.. slowly but more than I was getting before :-)
  4. They moved me out to pureed at two weeks because I cannot stomach any of the protein out there... so I have to get mine through food... I cheated, of course, yesterday and had some meat (well chewed) and I have to admit that this is the best I have felt since I started this journey.... I think most peoples lack of energy is lack of protein and liquids...
  5. After my surgery, my doctor prescribed Nexium to help my stomach heal faster... I luckily, did not have a drain... That Nexium works wonders...

    No Drain?

No drain, but had a barium leak test next morning.... so glad I didn't have one...
  7. Gallbladder issues are common after this surgery due to your fast weight loss and change in diet... I would have your doctor check... Lots of people on the board have gone back and had theirs removed...

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

15 days out, nutritionist moved me to pureed yesterday so I could start getting protein.. None of the liquid proteins agree with me and go right through me... I came home and had some egg salad... OMG that was the best egg salad lol.... I am starting to feel a bit better as a result of eating food with at least some texture....

Small Wendy's Chili 3 Weeks Post

As a matter fact, my nutritionist YESTERDAY.... fifteen days out, beans, refried or pureed, are fine... after a month, they are fine cooked normally.... of course she did say that meat is a no no until one month out though.. so chili is out for me until then...
  10. My surgery was just over two weeks ago... between the pre-op diet and the surgery itself, I am down 23 lbs... I have not exercised one bit because I cannot seem to drink any Protein, therefore no energy... it all runs right through me.. They released me to pureed yesterday so that I can start taking in protein via food... I will be swimming and yoga starting next week though...

How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?

I have the unfortunate luck of not being able to tolerate the whey... Any protein liquids thus far have gone right through me.. they released me to pureed today just so I can start getting my protein via food at least... My blood pressure and energy levels were bottoming out due to the lack of protein...I stopped at Sonic on the way home and ordered a Sunshine Smoothie.. it isn't on their menu but they will still make it for you...Very high in protein and tasty... http://calorielab.com/restaurants/sonic/sunshine-smoothie/14/2046 I came home and made the BEST egg salad I have ever eaten lol... I feel so much better...

    Any September People

Well, it appears that any protein that has ANY sugar in it, goes right through me... Spoke with the nutritionist and they moved me to pureed so that I can start taking my protein via food. My blood pressure is down low and I have no energy because I was only drinking water, sf popcicles, and cream soup.. YIPPEE now I can have anything that is mashable EXCEPT meat, bread, and pasta... Oh and Sonic sells a Sunrise Smoothie... it is NOT ON THEIR MENU but they do make it.... strawberry, banana, a splash of orange juice and a scoop of their "ice cream" which is actually ice milk... YUMMMIEEE! and here is the nutritional info... a little high in calories BUT VERY high in protein and that's exactly what I needed right now... http://calorielab.com/restaurants/so...oothie/14/2046

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I was sleeved on the 12th and you better believe I chew gum... I cannot stand MYSELF if I don't... I found it actually helps a bit and allows me to burp easier...
  15. Same problem... cannot do the whey protein so I started full liquids a few days early and started on cream of chicken soup just to get some substance... Still no energy but not hurting... lots of water and popsicles... Nutritionist appt tomorrow morning... we will see..
  16. Wouldn't sleeve IF YOU HAD diabetes? That makes no sense what so ever... No offense but I would never go under the knife of any doctor that was adamantly against what I was doing... I wouldn't trust them to adequately care for me afterwards... The best thing you can do is call your insurance and find someone else... The RNY is so much more dramatic and there are absorption issue that are ongoing for life with that surgery... And the band? More and more patients are having their bands removed and getting sleeved for better results...
  17. I don't have the itching type problem, I have the diarrhea which the doctor said was the whey protein... So I have stopped all protein and started full liquids a few days early... I have to work at getting my protein through food as soon as I can tolerate it...
  18. Get thee to a doctor... yes, that sound exactly like what that is and an allergic reaction is nothing to mess with: http://www.livestrong.com/article/311416-xylitol-sweetener-side-effects/

Got Denied By Ins...need Loan Advise..

Yep, which is exactly what happened to me... I took the money and lost my job a few weeks later... I used the money for my surgery and will get to deduct a chunk of it as a result... :-)

    Nervous About Hospital Stay

Toothbrush and socks... I wore comfy to the hospital to wear home... I had a late afternoon surgery, was pretty much out cold until the next morning... Leak test at 8AM, walking after that.. Grabbed a second gown to cover my backside and was released to go home by 1PM.. Don't even remember what was on the TV LOL....

    Tax Itemization

You sir, are my new hero for explaining that so simply..
  22. I can quilt, I can make curtains, and I can make just about anything BUT clothes... I think I am going to add that to my bucket list...

Got Denied By Ins...need Loan Advise..

401k contributions are PRETAX not post.. and you don't get taxed or penalized on a 401k LOAN.. You only get penalized on a 401k hardship/early withdrawal... Hardship or early withdrawals are not repaid but are counted as income. 401k loans are not... Been there done that, more than once.. repaid myself at a higher rate of interest... tied up the money so they couldn't play with it on the stock market (which is what they do)... It might not be for everyone... BUT not everyone knows this option is out there and they should....
