    Unflavored Protein Powder?

Maybe if that is all you are using for your protein sources you might use that much a day...and yes, if so that WOULD get expensive! I've been looking at it as well, and 20 some bucks for 15 scoops seems pricey to me too
  2. I have his worry too...I have baby fine hair and already tease and scrunch just to make it look like I have some! I've looked into clip in hair extensions but after looking at tons of youtube videos on them I don't think they will help with thinning/balding at the top of my head! YIKES!...guess I'll start wearing cute hats
  3. I've been looking at unjury too...have either one of you tried the unflavored in anything?? I haven't tried any unjury yet, thinking about getting the starter pack. I did find a protein drink I REALLY liked that will be suitable for my clear stage...it's called Protein Ice and I tried the blue raspberry flavor. LOVED IT! In fact, now I've been craving the damn thing and It's not even time to start my pre-op diet yet! LOL It comes in grape, apple, watermelon, and fruit punch as well...48 g protein, 170 calories, 20 oz. bottle, and ZERO carbs!

    Stomach Bug

Hi there...I sometimes make a weak hot tea (green or black) and add some powdered ginger and honey to it and it helps settle my stomach...be careful, if you get too much ginger it will be kinda "bite-y"! LOL

Exercise To Help With Side Boobs?

probably any exercise that targets your pectoral (chest) muscles will help...at the gym it's called doing "butterflies"..you can do it with hand weights like saddie suggested too. I do them sitting up instead of lying down, and incorporate some bicep work as well. Hold your arms out in front of you with weights in hand, bend your arms upward towards your sholders (you can brace your upper arms on your boobs for this part if you want, this works your biceps), then with your arms still curled up, open and close your elbows to work your pects, squeezing your chest muscles on the "close" part. To tone the sides of my chest (gets your upper back too, think of the V-shape weightlifters get) I like to do "pull downs". This is hard to do at home unless you have an exercise band you can attach at the top of a door. Then you are shaping and toning your lattisimus dorsi...LOL What ever you choose make sure you start slow with light weights, no since causing yourself pain or injury!

  11. I'm pre-op as well and had my first dream last nite. I awoke after surgery and was told to go walking so I found my way to the hosp. cafeteria and decided to start sipping water. My cousin was with me, and had had the surgery as well. We got our drinks and was setting at a table sipping when she suddenly looked at me in shock and said, "why are you drinking BEER?!?" I looked down at my hands and saw that I was holding a bottle of water AND a bottle of beer. I got defensive and said, "Well it IS a clear liquid!" We finished our drinks then went back to our room. Next I was laying on my hosp. bed with horribly bloated stomach and the doctor was there shaking his head at me saying, "this amount of swelling in NOT normal, something's wrong and we'll have to re-operate" I got such a huge feeling of shame and disappointment I woke up. Seems even in my dreams I see myself sabotaging!

Soon To Be Sleevers With Big Dogs

Is he crate trained? If your efforts to fix his jumping and crowding behaviors don't go so well, or you run out of time, you could always let him spend time in a crate or in his own "room" for a couple of weeks during the times when you just wanted to relax and concentrate on your healing. My rottie loved to spend time in his crate, and once he was older and could be trusted we took down the crate and the room it was in became his. All we had to do was tell him to "go to his room" and he would go in and lay down. Give him a good chew bone and shut the door and he was perfectly content and safe for a few hours.
  13. Hmmmm..I think I know where this came from..Obesity Control Center?? I've read it too, and it brings me comfort as well, especially since that is where I am having my surgery done. Thanks for posting!

    Dreaming About Surgery

I had my first dream last night..I'm scheduled for surgery in Mid-February. In my dream I woke up from surgery and my cousin was with me (we are the same age and had tonsillectomies together in grade school) and she had had the surgery too. We were asked to get up and start walking so we found our way to the hospital cafeteria where we thought we should go ahead and get some water to start sipping. Suddenly my cousin asked me in shock, "why are you drinking BEER!?" I looked down at my hands and in one hand was my water, but the other was a bottle of beer and I felt affronted by her comment and retorted, "well it IS a clear liquid!" We finished our drinks and walked back to our rooms. Next I was laying on my hospital bed with my stomach bloated horribly and the doctor shaking his head, saying, "That amount of swelling is NOT normal, something is wrong and we'll have to re-operate" I was so ashamed of myself I woke up. It seems even in my dreams I'm attempting to self-sabotage.

    Problem Drinking Protein Drinks

Hi, I'm not sleeved yet but have read on here that a lot of folks' tastes change after surgery. Have you considered buying an unflavored protein mix? I guess you can mix it with broth, juice, puddings, yogurt and other stuffs. I plan on buying some Unjury brand to use after my surgery. You can buy single serve packets to try before spending the big bucks on the canister. They have a website if you're interested. I'm sure there are other brands as well that may be cheaper. Good Luck!

I Know You Mean Well, But........

hmmm..that's a hard one. If it were me, I would probably listen to everything (I hate feeling like I hurt someone's feelings, especially someone close to me), keep whatever I felt was useful and whatever I felt wasn't..just disregard. No harm in listening.... If they were actually trying to influence what I did/didn't do with my own journey, I may just choose to spend more time with myself finding my own way....
  21. I've been really scrounging for information about my upcoming sleeve surgery. I'm self pay, heading to Mexico and want to learn as much as I can in hopes that I heal as well as possible without complications. I found an article on bariatrictimes.com that explained how the stomach healed after surgery. I've always loved science, and biology so even though it was a bit technical I was intrigued with the details. Without quoting the whole study, one of the things that I learned was that the best healing takes place in the presence of good blood supply. I have varicose and spider veins in my legs. I'm wondering if anyone thinks this may mean I could potentially have poor blood supply in other areas of my body, namely my stomach?? Also, I have used steroid inhalers for my asthma for better than 20 years. I'm supposed to rinse and spit out the Water after use, but sometimes I just take a drink and swallow it. Am I swallowing enough medication that it may change how my stomach heals after surgery?? Any sleeved nurses out there that could comment on that? I have the option of a phone consult with my surgeon, but I don't want to seem like "the crazy lady with the hair-brained questions", even though I really am coming up with some random, oddball thoughts of late!

    My Terrible Day

wow...what a bi-otch!! She sounds horrid...I hope you can take your hurt and disappointment and shape it into a blazing hot fire brand of determination...and then shove it right in her face! Don't give up, one person should not be the say all/do all in your choice to better your life!

    Phones In Mexico

I am scheduled for surgery at Obesity Control Center in Tijuana and they have an 800 number and phones in patient rooms for family to call you..not sure about calls out though. I was considering adding international calling to my phone for my surgery month, but probably wont. I have straight talk..and that would add $60 for unlimited international calls.
  25. All you tall people..geez! I'm 5'1 and even at my lightest weight (116 in the 9th grade) I still had larger, muscular thighs and wore a size 10. I wear a size 20 at 217...hope to get down to at least a 12...I can't see myself any smaller than that long ago size 10, I'd have to be a skeleton I think.
