I will have a 7 1/2 hour flight home (two connecting flights with hour layover in between) and am worried about blood clots as I am at increased risk for them due to my varicose veins. I will be wearing compression hose but have NEVER flown before and am wondering if I will be able to get up and move around any while on the plane or will I be stuck in my seat?? I had myself convinced I would be okay but my SIL just told me today about some story she had seen on CNN about a lady traveling home on a plane after surgery somewhere and she died of a pulmonary embolism

Thank you JerseyGirl..I had thought about asking the airline about it when I booked my flight, I will be given heparin and the stockings for the flight home as well. I'm nervous enough about flying and the added thought of doing it again after major surgery and with an increased risk of clots..well, just want to do everything I can to help prevent them!

I have one and I really like it..I use it mostly for upper body and some ab stuff. I love that you don't have any weights to change during your workout, you can go from one move to another seamlessly. It's almost like playing...pulling myself up and down!

Good thread, I have multiple supplements I take now that i'd like to continue taking after surgery. Only thing I foresee giving me a problem is my fish oil..those babies are HUGE! No way to break or crush them cause they're oil. LOL Sounds like I will have to wait a while to resume them..

I've felt it while riding my spin bike. I love getting in that spot where I feel like I could go on for hours, I feel strong, muscles warm and rhythmic, breathing quick but steady..I close my eyes and just feel the movement make my body swing. It feels so good!

I have a feeling I'm going to be "sharing" a lot of food with the critters around here after my surgery because I'll be eating with my eyes too...maybe I should close them?? Might help me listen to my body

LOL! I was just thinking that!! I don't call my guy "hubby" but sometimes refer to him as that when I'm typing text. Just easier than typing "husband" I guess?? I dunno...and he has called me his "Ol' lady" since I was fifteen...either that or "woman". I sometimes would like to hear him just say my name!

Are you allowed to drink any ready made protein drinks? I like EAS carb control shakes..they're pretty cheap, ready to drink and you can get them at walmart..they come in dark choc, choc, strawberry and vanilla. I like them tastewise so much better than the ones I've whipped up with the powder. The other day I added a few drops of peppermint extract to a dark choc one and it tasted like a peppermint patty!
