    Fat Pockets

Yeah I know what you are saying, since my surgery I have developed areas that are like the size of peas in my arms and around my legs according to the dr they are fat cells that have not broken down or dissolved yet. I heard that green tea will help break them down but not sure that is the case.

Protein shakes are nasty to me - help!

I had surgery back in September, and I could not do them either so the best suggestion that I was ever given was to buy the protein powder and instead of making the shakes add it to your food, for example when you make tuna or chicken salad add a 1.2 scoop and you end up doubling up on the protein without having to take in the extra sugar or calories. Also on the water the best thing my dr ever told me was drink your water at room temperature. It makes it much easier to get down and stay down.

    Can i drink

my Dr told me about 3 weeks, it is nice i have become a cheap date, just remember if you would normally drink 2 glasses of wine, typically about 1/2 of one will knock you down.
  6. My dr said at least 4 weeks, he said the only time that he has ever had problems post op was when he had a patient fly to early after surgery and got a blood clot

4 weeks post op and depressed.

Yeah that is never a easy thing to hear, I know for me it was a little different one being a women and because I didn’t fit the “norm” the day of surgery I was asked multiple times why I was getting this done and I was not really that big. Being 245 pounds and 5’3 was not the normal demographic apparently. But with that being said, I personally never asked what the “goal” weight was for me because I didn’t want to set myself up for failure if I didn’t reach the “magic” number, which I have done so many times in the past with my trial and error on diets. The best thing that any of my drs ever told me about weight loss is that your body will slow or stop going down if you are doing the right things when you hit that number, so don’t let someone else’s view of what you should or should not be doing change how well you are doing on your journey. Everyone loses at different rates you may lose 10 pounds one month and then the next lose 30 pounds you don’t want to drop to quickly because you will end up with the loose skin and personal image issues. My recommendation, take it one day at a time and be happy that you were able to make the choice that you did and that you are 20 pounds closer to your goal.

All Right All You Sleevers. I Need Your Brains!

I had mine back in September, I am down to 168 and I went thru the same thing. I have found for breakfast I do some of the following to get the best bank for the buck. Breakfast Dry Cereal I then to do the Kashi or the nut ones to get the added Fiber I do sliced cucumbers with a little Greek yogurt--this is good for added Water Sliced fruit works well in frozen yogurt Snacks I do the trail mix, baby cheese, pistachios, and best of all for the sweet craving yogurt covered raisins For the water if you are really having trouble getting it down try drinking it at room temperature, my DR told me that the best way to get the most out of it. Cold water is only absorbed about 20% where warm is more around 60%. Also try freezing fruit and things like cinnamon or mint in a ice cube tray for your water to add flavor without the extra sugars

    Leveled out Need Help

Irish- That was the best advise I dropped quite a bit then the holidays hit and I went into food over load now it is time to jump back on the wagon and start dropping again.
  12. I did about 3 months ago and Dr Westmoreland do my surgery and was great. his bedside mannor sucks but he is not one of those drs that just turns them out for the money. If you have questions about him let me know.
  13. ok I am about 7 weeks post op and I am on mostly solid foods, I am having a really hard time finding lunch ideas to take to work that are not our staple, soup, tuna salad, egg salad or chicken salad. I use my meals to get my protein in because I cannot stomach the protein drinks at the moment. Please if anyone has any good ideas for lunches to take I would greatly appreciate any ideas you may have. I have been eating a lot of fish which is great for me but not so much for the people who work around me, microwave fish is never a good smell.
