  1. You can try unflavored protein in your food, it helps to get it in without having to set aside room in your tummy for shakes

    Sad & Pissed

I'm really not sure if they take Medicaid, I know woman's takes it but I'm not sure if the bariatric doctors do-- I don't see why not though. Definitely give them a call

    Sad & Pissed

I know several people who have had it done at Woman's in Baton Rouge, have you thought about BR? I know Vacherie isn't right down the road but its not that far considering the care you would be getting- some of the top in the state are there.

    Paying Out of Pocket

I was self-pay with a wonderful surgeon just 2 hours from me in Louisiana. 9800$ total which included surgical center, 2 surgeons, all Pre and post op visits and anesthesia. Much more comfy to me than going to Mexico, but everyone is different I used a personal loan to pay for mine.

  11. Your body doesn't feel hungry anymore post-op... No you won't be eating but in general you really won't care (aside from head hunger).
  12. My fiancé keeps commenting on how my bellybutton changed (he's weird okay??) but he's right! I think it's because my dr went through my BB for something (I only have 5 incisions). I guess I'm just wondering if I'm the only one whose BB changed? Or am I crazy? Haha
  13. I boohoo'd my way all the way into the OR... My mind was a crazy mess so I completely understand where you're coming from... I can't offer any advice to you other than I worried myself to death for nothing, I'm now 3 months out and couldn't be happier!

Just take it slow and steady! Don't stress just try your best and you'll get there
  16. I would say its a possibility.... No way to know unless you ask your surgeon.
  17. Sometimes it's to clean out your system also, my dr didn't have me do a diet at all BUT he did make me clear my system for like 2 days before surgery, i would take the liquid diet ANY day... (Surgery weight = 240)

    In the early stages...

In that case... In general, most people are able to do that, but everyone is different on what they can and can't tolerate so I just want you to understand that there is a possibility that even though you love a certain pizza or anything for that matter right now you might be giving it up depending on your tummy (and you may only be giving it up for a little while because sometimes they change their mind over time). You will most likely be fine though

    In the early stages...

I think you're missing my point but I also think that until you experience this for yourself none of us can tell you how YOUR body will react to things. I'm 3 months out and a chicken tender (one of my most favorite things before surgery) will make me sick after one bite. What makes me sick may not make you sick etc etc. so no, I don't think it's possible for any of us to tell you if you will ever be able to have a burger again- anything greasy makes me instantly ill- so I'm pretty sure i'll stick to my fish and veggies. This isn't some random diet and it shouldn't be taken as such, your tummy will be gone and won't be able to be gotten back so yes, there is a possibility your "favorite" foods will be out of the question afterwards. Carbonated drinks taste disgusting to me now, I tried a sip, just to see, and I still can't drink them even though I'd kill for a diet coke right about now.... You just never know.

    3 Months-Pics!

Thanks so much everyone, I really can't express how amazing it feels to be able to look in the mirror and see less of myself! I still can't believe my new wedding dress is half the size of one I ordered just a few short months ago! This is so surreal! And amw, you are so right...I am WAY happier with myself these days!
