  1. I am one of those who had WLS and am still fighting the complications after one year+ . Was it worth it..For me yes...I was dead anyway before my surgery...Not because of high blood pressure or heart issues and the like, but I was in so much pain I could no longer move, stand or walk for long..My future was in a wheel chair or worse...Nope I was at the end of all options.... I almost died!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact they were sure I would. But I am here so I guess it didn't happen... Weight loss surgery is not for the faint of heart.. it is a life long commitment to changing your life and mind set...It takes bloody work and will power and courage to change who you have been for years working from the mind to the body.... Don't do this unless you are ready for a change and the possibility of things going bad, maybe really bad as in my case..... Personally, I would do it all again. but that is just me!
  2. You must be blind..Your smaller in the face shoulders and chest.....And your pants are loser.....wake up and get that sweater off the chair and hang it up.....for goodness sake! And straighten up that table!!!!lol
  3. I don't think I could be more confused then I am after reading the last 5 or 6 posts..I'm out a here.....
  4. Lol!!! A minister overseeing the atheist/agnostic Forum??! Now I have seen everything @BP.com It is quite a convergence of conflicting ideologies within my mind. On one hand I am inextricably involved with my relationship with Christ and love to share Him. On the other hand, I respect the sovereignty of will and choice that all people are entitled to and in no way want to violate that line of respect. Then, as a host, I must maintain objectivity and a measure of detachment. I have had extensive discussions with atheists on both scientific and theological grounds and have most enjoyed the ones that remained civil. I, in fact, have considered myself an atheist in my past and as a minister since the 70's have had very deep doubts at times. Somehow my faith holds and remains a bastion of joy in my life. Then there is the fact that I am very fond of the folks I've come to know on the forum. I know that religion can easily cause rifts in relationships and I certainly don't want that to happen. My job is to maintain reasonable peace without jumping on sides. I think I can do that. Might not be easy, though, especially when I know I am always right. OMG this is why I did not want to reply again to this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!! jumpin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I will take a look later tonight..
  6. Yes definitely..It takes a while for your sleeve to heal and the swelling to go down from the tube they stick down your throat so you can breath..just goes easy with it all..Try to keep small sips in your mouth for now and swallow a little at a time...this will pass I promise...And someday soon you will be able to take a bite swallow it easily....It just takes time hun...Get your mom to really watch out for you while you are at this stage..... it is all fresh and new and yes there is gas but you are putting liquid in a place that just had major surgery...Don't be so hard on yourself...Worrying is okay...but panic no.....let us know how you are doing K
  7. Not trying to be bossy..motherly instinct you know sets in.....Yes if nothing else drink that as well...Does it say on the bottle anywhere that it helps with dehydration......Use it...Sure but find a way to get some G2 as soon as you can girl....If i were there I would get it for you.....sorry to be so pushy hun!
  8. My take on it is that your body is adjusting to exercise...You will not lose weight at first but inches....Keep hydrated with a Gatorade G2 after you do your exercise..K.... You will come around..Enjoy what you are doing and don't worry so much about the scale. Your body will decide when it is ready to lose again..Right now it is in protection mode..It thinks you are starving it...Isn't the body amazing!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I will definitly do that....is Vitamin water good?? Concentrate on your electrolytes for now..K.. that is what your main issue is right now..Gatorade G2...sip, sip and sip..K
  10. Get a family member to go out right now and get some G2 Gatorade and drink it...It should make a difference..Do that for a few days and do contact your team.... I had the same problem and my hubby went right away and got some and it helped to the point that I did not have to go to the hospital...Drink some every day..A bottle is only 20 calories if you are concerned about that.. Over a year out and I am still drinking it 1/2 with Water..every day.....K
  11. What about the people who are nuts..do they live longer too...hehehehehe
  12. I don't feel like you hijacked my thread..Actually I am finding it quite entertaining to be truthful....... I go for another treatment tonight and he will see how things are progressing....No still can't sleep through, miss that a lot...Was so used to it after finally getting the habit of sleeping through the night at the hospital...i used to be such a night hawk..UI thought that was just the way I was but apparently I had severe sleep apnea that I woke up a lot from that... Oops did not even know I had it until they put me in a coma and they hooked up the machine to help me breath because I would continuously stop for several seconds and scare the crap out of my family....Finally they gave me a trachea and I breathed through that..Sorted story, I think I got off track..Age you know..... Can't wait to see how you do after your first game...I think if you come clean about your surgery you are going to really be harassed ..Guys are like that you know......
  13. I eat a 1/4 cup of nuts almost every night..Love them and it gives a nice crunch so satisfying!!!!!!!!!
  14. Once about 10 years ago I went on a ride that consisted of going down this huge mountain in a small car on a track!!! I asked my sister if she thought I could fit in the car and she said I can so you can too.... Well I squeezed my 333 lbs. into that car and it was fun going down that hill..Until I reached the bottom and there was a crowd of people on the side lines watching the ride and the people who were on it...Cameras were flashing and all eyes seemed to be on me.... I could not go anywhere, I was just there in a pickle...I could not lift myself out of the ride...I was so stuck it was impossible.... Finally this little tiny Japanese guy came over and put his camera down and pulled and tugged until I was free...Trust me people were taping the entire event....My sister had finished the ride and joined people on the side lines..My husband had not come down the mountain yet so he missed the entire thing... Finally which seemed like hours to me I was released from the ride...I stood up and bowed to the onlookers and said that is how an obese person rides down this mountain...Hope everyone got enough movies and photos to share and put on face book.... There was no laughing or anything, just people looking at me.....Inside I wanted to die..On the outside I gave a speech and hoped beyond hope that it would not end up on YouTube..Never saw it there so I must have missed that one by a hair... Never went on another ride since...never talked about it until now... I have always wondered what my sister was thinking when she said the ride was safe for me.....I would have to ask..But I really don't know if I want the answer.... So..I have been there too, done that...Know how you felt....
  15. Doesn't surprise me you feel that way gman!!!!!LOL
  16. Oh wow...don't get me started. As to your "death is punishment enough" statement...I've always wondered why believers feared death in the first place. I would think they'd welcome it. Why wear seat belts? Why wear a helmet? Why have WLS? The sooner you die the sooner you go the the everlasting right? What am I missing? If death is natural and a part of our lives then why the crying, pain and suffering when someone dies...If it was natural why try so hard to escape it.....We do everything we can to save ourselves from it.....(Except when you are not in the right frame of mind). Anyhow...I don't see the point of barbecuing people in hell for eternity. I think that hell is a tactic to control the masses with fear. I believe God is love..It does not make sense.... I am not going to reply to this thread again..That is how I feel, not being preachy! Just feel this way that's all.....
  17. I know where you are coming from as I spent 5 months in the hospital due to complications with my sleeve surgery. I came home and still had care up until a month or two ago. Today I am fighting pneumonia and dislocated ribs because of the WLS complications...It is tragic that so many have complications with this surgery. However your not alone and you have not had it as bad as some others on here... Before you know it you will be on your way enjoying your journey and reaping the results of it.... I went through a lot, but I try not to dwell to much on it and more on the results so far. Take the time you need to recuperate, because once you do feel better you will have a lot of energy to place and I have found that at times to be just as difficult as being sick for over a year.....
  18. There are a lot of reasons you are down..One you are recovering from major surgery. Two your body is putting all its efforts into rebuilding your system and cleaning out all the junk they filled you with when you were under and after, ex. pain meds... Three, now is the beginning of a new era for you and fear and confusion and doubt start to play on your minds..Not to mention that you can't depend on one of the only things that brought you comfort...FOOD...This is a start of a whole new world and life for you... Think of why you did this in the first place, write it down and read it over and over again...I know you thought and feel it was right for you or you would not have done it.....Then shake it off, look after yourself until you are healed and go forward in your journey....All that you are going through is what everyone feels at some point..K
  19. don't waste your time on regrets hun..That takes your energy away from your ability to get better..dig in and ride it through...For some of us it has been the road from hell.. Keep in mind why you did it and if there are any positive changes that you see so far.....Ask yourself: What was I willing to do to get healthy before I had the surgery and could I have done it on my own..... Attitude, strength from within and will power will carry you through not to mention support from those who love you and this forum..... Get some G2 Gatorade and drink 1/2 a bottle mixed with 1/2 Water every day...It will bring your electrolytes up. Over a year later and I still drink it every day....K....You got this kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. All the best on your journey and your success to get where you want to be....Healthier!!!!!!!!

  23. Doesn't your name say it all..I mean to me it says you are all grown up...lol I don't think I would continue to play a game that knocked me around that much fat or skinny...But I know it is a man thing....roar!!!!!! Looking forward to the photos.....
  24. I remember the beginning...It was so wonderful...especially wonderful because it was all new and something was finally working..Congrats on your progress....your doing wonderfully!!!!!
