  1. I had the same experience kinda...Other then migraines caused by the weight pressing on my spine. I was going to the Lap band and ended up with the sleeve. Then I got totally invested in the sleeve. I love my sleeve.... Not saying anything about the other surgeries but the reason I went for it was because of the importance of nutrient absorption. Sure my experience turned out that I had a by pass as well. But I have the sleeve for quicker absorption of food.
  2. Send an email to Alex and an example of what you would like to say and he will give you the thumbs up or not.. Personally. I think you are a natural! Alex is always looking for new perspectives and I think you the bomb... Thanks for your remembering me...I was thinking Guinness book of records for me on complications via WLS...lol
  3. Loved your experience. You are a wonderful writer....One problem though....I personally have set records for complications where you and no one else has or would possibly be prepared for...... That said I would do it again in a heartbeat... Loved your statement, and is so true, 'Obesity is a medical problem; WLS is a medical solution.' You should put this in the article section. It is well put and beautifully written like I said already...Congrats on an easy journey.......
  4. I have to tell you.. I love a dad who spends time making sand castles with his child...Whether you carry your weight well or not. Your health is the issue here and I think you have had enough of it.. Good for you for taking the plunge to improve yourself and the benefits it will bring to you and your family...That little one will benefit by your energy boost! I applaud your spit to be so open on here.....
  5. I am so happy for you..Write that down and keep track of the wonderful NSV's and then you can look at them all later and be totally stoked at the changes in your life.....
  6. So I have two appointments with two different plastic surgeons because I want to know what each will offer and I want to see evidence of their work. I am not scared really, just surprised that I am willing to go through so much more to try to complete who I think I can become. I need this for two reasons. One my back is hurting with the weight of the skin..Which surprises me since I had so much more weight on it before and there is so much less now and it is starting to cause similar issues. And two I think by removing the skin it will make me more mobile. And it not being in the way, will give me more confidence.... Those are my reasons for now... But are they good enough to go forward......hmmmmmmm!
  7. Oh you silly girl ..................... I would kill to have my girls back....Mine are hanging to my waist and need to be rolled up into my bra...Please be careful for what you wish for....I have to have plastics to fix mine..Oh would I like to have some of them back...lol It's not over yet and maybe you will lose them yet. Be happy you still have those.....Some of us, well it ain't pretty!
  8. It seems to me like it is a tug of war...Phone the Pasta place and ask what is on the menu..they may very will have salads and other types of carbs. Like complex to make a complete Protein for your healthy eating program. Tug of war will only force a conflict. She knows what your doing and you know what she is doing. She felt safe with you being close to her weight and eating what she was eating...Sorta like fellows in crime thing.... I am so proud of you for wanting to get healthy. Trust me you won't regret it... But your friend is not ready and knows that she is going to be faced with all the reasons why she herself is not going there.. It is a hard road to follow when you see others change in front of you... Is she a good friend that you don't want to lose....Then be gentle unless it comes to a battle of wills...Then it will be up to you to decide if the friendship will still be worth it.. If a person does not support you then they are not a friend....
  9. Oh please, please, please don't judge your weight loss by another's. It does not go well when we do that. It just discourages us and makes us feel like we failed or are not good enough. There are so many different reasons why people don't lose the same amount of weight. Genes, age, height, bone structure, activity levels, health, treatments, illnesses, programs that we are encouraged to follow......On and on we go. You are you and I am I and if I lose 20 lbs less then you in the same time frame as you then why shouldn't I be happy. If you took that 20 lbs of butter and placed it on the table in front of you it would be a lot. Put the scale away and don't do this to yourself. Check yourself and see the differences by how you feel, clothes and activity level. Weigh once a month or at the most 2 times a month for now. Enjoy the journey, no matter how long it takes. This is your ride. No one else's..okay!
  10. I am so happy for you as well...A lot of great things in your future...Your's for the taking.....Congrats!!!!!
  11. First of all this change can play havoc on your system. Emotions, mental, physical...whatever. But if you are in a negative state I would get back on your meds and contact your Dr. I took liquid anti depressants in the hospital and believe me..I would rather cut the suckers up then go through that again...nasty!
  12. Keep on smiling little one.......We are all rooting for you here on the other side of surgery......Soon you will be a loser like us....LOL
  13. Wonderful for you kid! Keep swimming and this is only the beginning of your NSV. Write them down so you can look at them later and read all the changes you have made and where you are and who you have become and then you will find you will never want to go back...
  14. Got the same comments from 3 different people last weekend. they were all staying at my house. One I just met. The other two were friends I had not seen in 10 years. All knew someone who had the surgery. Unsure which one though but had either only lost a fraction of weight. Not enough to make it worth it. Or one that kept tons of sweets in a desk drawer at her desk and she was not losing..And a third that is bigger now then when she had the surgery a couple of years ago! Did not bother me one little bit. i had all the answers in my back pocket and explained the possibilities for all of the stories and this led them to all kinds of questions regarding WLS. I know that this surgery will not fail me. I can however fail it if I don't see it as a tool and not as a miracle cure...With that knowledge and the retraining of our thinking about how we use food. We will succeed. Maybe not today or tomorrow..But we will come to terms with the new us and that is all she wrote!
  15. I am so, so sorry for all your losses. This is a multiple tragedy that you are right is almost too much to bear. if you need me, PM me and I will listen. Jane
  16. Start logging your intake and count calories again. Go back to basics and take a few days of liquid Protein only. Then next eat in this fashion....Protein, veggies, fruit. and then carbs. Best to eat complex carbs for the best results of nutrition. Some people finish where you are and others lose more. It depends on your body type and if you are still on point then maybe you are done and need to maintain. Watch stress eating it can be a real challenge...Try to stay between 5-10 lbs without going over 10 in gain......Maybe you might want to look into the 5-2 plan on here. A lot seem to feel it works.......
  17. Well if he gets you where you need to be go for it...But at the end he is going to treat others the same way he treated you. Imagine if that was your mom or your daughter. You would lose it...In the end when you are where you want to be..I think you need to talk to him and let him know your rights as a fellow human being and let him know what he did and the way you felt.... I just recently did that to a Dr. that did not give a rats behind about me because of my weight in the past. I had to see him again and he was so nice it made me want to puke. He remembered me just a little but did not remember treating me with such rudeness. Selective memories....Don't leave it as long as I did. As when I talked to him the entire conversation was way over his head....
  18. lol...yes RJ...that was your outside voice. Not me, not me...lol
  19. You'll find them every where! The real trick is to not let them get away with it! It is up to you to walk out and or bitch slap them in the head....No but you can picture it and laugh in front of her/him! And then turn serious and walk the hell out..Then make the calls and call him/her a rat bastard! Did I say that!?
  20. I st realy tight full feeling after just 4 bites. If I push it an I have I end up with hiccup. .sometimes sneez an hiccups trust me it's funny to look at but there's times I have to stop an try a sneez at the same time hiccups. ..totally frustrating an almost impossible! Lol...I have to laugh...but I do have tightness I ended up taking a Roland today had a lil indigestion. .better...but can't eat much period an hungry all day..aggravating It is quite the rig-ga-ma-roll isn't it. Trying to figure out everything that is happening to your body and the sins and signals it gives you to either eat more or eat less. Or that you have eaten enough...It is kinda humorous. I remember taking a couple bites and complaining on here that my signals weren't working right.... All water under the bridge now...Now I work to maintain and not lose or gain...I kinda think back and miss those days where it was simpler....funny right!..LOL
  21. you really need to take smaller sips and then swallow slowly to help with this for now. you will be able to drink faster later on but for now..Be kind to yourself and listen to your body!
  22. Please do not compare yourself with others in the weight loss department. Each person is different and has a different body chemistry so therefore no one loses at the same speed. what this does is make people feel like their surgery is not as successful as another's. This is not a race this is a journey so please when you are replying to this thread. Don't look at others weight loss as a I failed because I only lost 35 lbs in 3 months.
  23. Trust me...the feeling will end and then the real work will begin.....Take note of how you are feeling and how much you can put in your stomach when this happens. If you feel uncomfortable eat smaller meals 6 times a day until you fully heal... Right now is the honeymoon period. Everything is geared to lose. You are swollen and tight. It will reverse in the sense that you will easily be able to fill yourself with up to a cup or more and then it will be very important what you eat. Some people sneeze or hick-cup or their nose runs....Now for me I get no signs that I am getting full. Just have to learn to listen carefully to my stomach..... This is only temporary and the feelings in there will change. Just keep doing what your doing and don't stop eating or drinking your Water because if you do there is going to be a lot of other not so nice things happening to you.... Make sure too that you are drinking coconut water and or G2 Gatorade to help with electrolytes....
  24. YOU ARE YOUR OWN CHAMPION. I suggest that you go back to the hospital and tell them that you want to be admitted. That you will not leave until these matters are resolved. That you are not fooling around. No one is going to help you until you take a stand seems like to me. If you are still having issues, they are real. They need to dig deeper or you might lose this journey altogether. Don't take chances with your life. Seems to me that they are not taking you seriously enough. If they won't help you. Find a Bariatric clinic that will. Take this very seriously..because they seem to be taking it too lightly! Okay....please do this for you!
  25. Congrats Alex! Wow 11 years of amazing success! Glad you started this site for all to learn and benefit from others experiences, and information......
