  1. WE are women. We have mood swings. You will have ups and downs and whatever. It is whether you are willing to learn how to control what it is that brings you to this decision. This is not the easy way out and weight loss surgery is a tool to use to learn that food is to nourish our bodies and nothing more. It will be a time to learn other ways to enjoy time well spent with family. Without food as the main event. It all comes with time. Work and effort will give the rewards and goals you seek. But it will not be easy as I mentioned it will be a life long struggle to make it stick.... 30% of WLS patients go back to their old ways and regain their weight. Not retraining our brain is the reason. Going through the training sessions sounds like a good idea to me. It prolongs the surgery date..yes..but you will be well informed about nutrition and what you need to know and do to make this a successful journey! I wish you success and good health and happiness!
  2. Your doing great! Congratulations!
  3. With the best of intentions we will make errors. It is human. Try not to be too mad at yourself and keep going forward. The previous poster had a good idea. It does help to write things down sometimes...It may help you move into it becoming habit after a bit!
  4. So if your looking at the stats...Yes it is rare..But it happens. Whether you are educated or not it can happen. Whether you feel you are ready or not for it to happen. Your not! Keeping your eye on why you are doing it is key, and having the greatest intentions of dealing with the possibilities is neither here nor there. Because you have no choice but to deal. You can't go back if you have the sleeve. So you do want to make sure you have the right attitude if it does happen and that you can endure the possible long haul of complications. I was less then 1%. just like some others on this forum......some odds eh..For over 700 patients I was the one who got the bad odds..Odds are in your favor, yes! But it can happen. It does happen! Fact! Your doing it for the right reasons so make sure you can deal either way the best way you know how! k All other goals take second place if you have complications!
  5. That is a problem you will have even when you reach your goal. you will not see yourself for who you really are for sometime. That is the nature of the beast! Surprisingly though the people at the gym are not looking at you. Most of them are busy trying to get in shape or stay in shape. Most people are not looking around. And if they do, most of them applaud you for coming. 35 lbs down nothing to sneeze at I would say..Hold your chin up. Get your bag together and get there and work it girl! You deserve to be healthy. just like anyone of those people at that gym. Who knows you might inspire others as they see you working out because you are doing this and making changes for yourself no one else!!!! 35 lbs of butter on the kitchen table is a remarkable accomplishment......Go, do it and think about the fact that you are 35 lbs smaller then you were when you started this journey! Kick ass!
  6. Oh and it wasn't from eating too much.......What a dumb thing to say! lol
  7. No problem. I am still fighting it. Happened that I was having pains in my side under my rib cage. I thought I had dislocated a rib and had it adjusted several times. Then one day the Chiropractor told me to do him a favor and have it checked. I did. They did a Cat Scan and discovered that I had an abscess and it was filled with Fluid and that's why I had the pain under my ribs. They sent me to my surgeon who did the tests over again and told me I had a leak and the fluid had caused and abscess. A scope done later revealed and ulcer as well. So they inserted a drain and hoped that it would seal and collapse if it was emptied. I am now 22 months out and went today because I am having pain again under my rib cage so he is thinking of doing another scope to see what is going on now. The last Cat Scan said the abscess was getting smaller and blood tests were good. But now I am in pain again...So we shall see if it is getting better or not or if it is getting worse again.... 22 months and only 5 of those months were complication free. I think that for me even with everything I have been through which is a lot. I would do it again because I was in a place where this was all I had left. Another person may have other options. I personally was dead anyway. So it was worth the risks and chance. Make sure you are very informed about this surgery and the possible side effects and possible complications. Be ready for the worst and if it does not come your way. Wipe your brow and be thankful. Very thankful!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I had one at 18 months..That's right!
  9. No I meant if you keep losing that maybe you will have to up the calories bit by bit. I don't count them either but I know when I have eaten more calories then I usually do. So upping a little each week will help stabilize your weight. Then you can work from there!
  10. very common and it is because of what happened to you. This is a huge deal. You are swollen and sore and all the stuff they used to do the surgery. Pain meds. None of this is easy...It will pass. Ask your surgeon if you can take Gravol for the nausea. I don't know how it will last. Each person is different. I still throw up on occasion. Most find that it eases up after a month or so....Just don't force it by pushing it upwards. We think we need to get it all out. That is nature when we are sick. But we are not sick as in the Flu. Let it happen and then go on..... Keep us posted okay. And if it does continue please talk to your surgeon. Oh and try to drink some coconut Water or G2 Gatorade it will help with Hydration.....
  11. Your body will level off and gain and then maintain. I am there right now. It is a difficult process but it is none the less part of this journey. Caloric intake may be a factor and keeping a 5 lb up or down goal. You may have to up your calories to not lose any more. I now weigh myself once a week and I watch the 5 lb limit. It is definitely something to get used to when all you have ever wanted was to lose weight.... I suffer from reactive Hypoglycemia and am having a terrible time with it......I am so concerned I will gain too much back because of it.... Nevertheless keep a watchful eye on it and enjoy a little bit of freedom from the opposite of trying hard to lose the weight.
  12. Thank you Curvy! Arm candy! No one has ever seen me like that..not even my hubby..Your a doll to say so!!!! And at my age...lol
  13. Thank you for your kindness. I cried when I read your words!
  14. I see the @@Kindle here. She counts to me!
  15. I have the skinniest legs on the planet......And I have to get some skin removed...I may find a long black dress. But no doubt my little black dress will never happen... TY Sweetie!
  16. Where did you go? Your so little and adorable! Congratulations!
  17. I can't wait to see your success pictures...Your going to love the journey and the ups and downs. As you travel this road you will find yourself and be so happy you did this! I go back to the hospital tomorrow for the surgeon to check things out again! Thank you so much for asking!
  18. You give gently and kindly as well @@Kindle Your pretty cool yourself kid!
  19. I have too. ( Reactive Hypoglycemia ) But it was after the sleeve. And only a few months ago! I eat 6 times a day and very little refined sugar. I eat complex Protein. That means a carb with a protein and it seems to be working better for me......
  20. Seems that no matter what words I use in this thread.. They are wrong..So...I shall take the back door and leave this thread to those who can express themselves better then I......
  21. You know what it isn't the first time on here that I have heard of patients saying that they thought watermelon would be a good choice to start off with and it wasn't. hmmmm maybe there is something to this after all. hope all gets better for you!
  22. Healing is my guess! That is how you know...Doing great kid! Or if puffy and oozing not good. Go to ER and have them take a look..k
  23. I agree with this 100 %. I am not referring to those who ate a cheese burger three days out....But there are times when some just don't get it and need different ways of it being posted maybe by someone else......I understand your comments and thank you for them......They are true and helpful... Like I have said over and over again....Sometimes it is how we say things that get the desired effect.
  24. Thank you for your input on my comments!
  25. Your title says " Why are some patients so clueless. If you are not saying it then what is it in your title for....I am not offended by what you wrote or anything about you.....you too offer so much to this community and are valuable to say the least @@VSGAnn2014 I have never seen you on the attack and I know that you take this journey very seriously. I guess for me it is all about the people who post here because they just don't understand the way it has been explained by the first, second or third person. Why just last night I found out some terminology concerning concerning my latest complication and it was finally explained to me so that I understood......Yup I guess I was clueless the 20 times the surgeon tried to explain it to me....Now I know I am in deep doo, doo this time..... If I had asked and asked several times on here about it like I did in my life how would people have responded. Would I have finally got the straight, harsh by the book answer....I have before and I did not like it...I felt stupid and like I did not belong to the site... Well okay maybe I am a hand holder. but you know what I can sleep at night.. Because I used to be the tell it like it is gal and I did not like me ...So be it! That is me....I too am a ford..like me or don't.....But in here I hope people feel safe enough to ask even the silly questions over and over again....That is a forum. It is going to happen and if you think I think less of you because you posted it..You are wrong...I don't spend my time feeling like that... I am trying to get healthy....inch by inch and step by step like most people on here. Like you too...... I think sometimes when the path is easier for some it is fact and the way it is....People who have hit the hard road on this journey tend to be more the other way...You don't know unless you have traveled the other I think. I would have loved to have had it a hop skip and a jump. But no! So I have all kinds of fears and I hope that if I mention them here that the ones that feel it is repeated and repeated and repeated question. Or comments like my complications through this that they don't roll their eyes and say oh god here she goes again.. boo hoo!
