    Something im excited for...

As far as your thyroid.... No you won't be denied because of a thyroid issue. I don't know how other doctors will handle it, but mine wants my levels to be in a certain range before surgery for optimal weight loss. My latest level check is at 7.1. Needs to be under 5. So they're upping my Synthroid. No biggie. Almost there.

    Wife isn't supportive

Could she feel threatened? Like youre going to get this new body and go cruising for chicks? It's a common issue.

Another few months in exchange for the rest of your life. You can do this.

At 5'5", you look a heck of a lot smaller than 175. 95 pounds in 6 mos. sheesh. I hope my weight falls that fast.

    Horrible evening!

Oh i can remember my first broken chair I'm going to throw in a little 'lol' because, come on, you gotta laugh. That's a story you'll tell your daughter when she grows up.... back when momma USED to be fat. Sorry it was rough. It's over now. Thank goodness!

I received my approval in three days!

I'm in Pennsylvania and I have UPMC for You, which is a medical assistance provider.
  8. So I'm waiting for my thyroid levels to regulate for surgery, but am already approved. I'm doing this to FEEL BETTER. 100% to feel healthy and not be in so much pain. That being said, I would like to have some sort of ultimate number goal, but don't know what is realistic. I'm 5'9" and currently at 290. I would love to ultimately be at 150. Is this even realistic. Yes yes I know the "It works if you work it" stuff, but I just want to know if I'm shooting too high here. Thanks, all!!!

Congrats!!!!! I, too, just received my approval! Also in 3 days. Wow! What luck!
  10. Now I wait. I have UPMC for You, which is medical assistance here in Pa. I had some issues with weight gain during the 6 month diet because of a severely abnormal TSH level, so I'm a little concerned about approval. Hopefully the letter from my PCP helps that. Fingers crossed. And toes. And eyes..........

I'm approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh God thank you. Thank you!!!!!!! I am so hopeful. As soon as my Tsh level is normal, I get a date. Eight months of hardships and I was approved!!!!!!!!!!

    Failing This Pre-Op Thing.

Thank you! It sure is good to hear that. Oh, and 300 pounds down? Wow! Good work!
  14. Ok I'm going to be completely honest with all of you out there in hopes of getting some guidance or something. I'm really failing at this pre-op diet. It's the six month supervised diet where I am not required to lose weight, but it's encouraged not to gain. Mine has gone like this: Month 1- 272 Month 2- 271 Month 3- 275 Month 4- 273 (mostly bc I had just had a colonoscopy with a fast!) Month 5- 279 ( my weigh in is in 2 days and I'm trying to juice cleanse, but I won't make it. I can make arrangements to get weighed in later, but it just means another failure.) I don't want to get denied by insurance for my inability to do this. Part of the struggle is my unregulated thyroid ( working on it wih endo) and I have a letter from my PCP saying its unregulated, but mostly it's my food addiction. I just can't diet. I feel so disgusting and worthless. I can't even diet for six months for the greater good of my life. I don't deserve the surgery. Will i be denied? Does his mean I will fail post op if I DO manage to get approved? Ugh.

    Failing This Pre-Op Thing.

I feel the same way about the scale. I hate weighing. It's rarely an accurate weight for me anyway, as I retain Water and go through thyroid level changes. But yeah, ever since this started I am a slave to the scale lol

    Success With Hypothyroidism?

I had my thyroid removed less than two years ago my surgeon said that he wants my Tsh at a normal level before he will do the surgery. He indicated that that will optimize my success. I think you'll be fine as long as your levels are good.

Thank you everyone! I love reading so much support!

    Failing This Pre-Op Thing.

Thank you everyone who has taken the time to respond to me. All of you have done lots to ease my mind, and even put this into perspective. I know it's not my thyroid that has caused me to be where I am with my weight. It's not what has made me fail at this so far. I know it's my food addiction and my failure to get help for it. I will be going to OA meetings next week. My stress level has been through the roof as well, so I need to find a way to CAAAAALMMMM DOOOOOWN!!!!!! Lol. I do want the surgery. I think it will be a great TOOL to help me conquer this. But as Aaron said, I simply have not tried my hardest. Suffice it to say that I haven't tried at all. That is, up until this past couple weeks. Too little, too late? I guess we shall see. Thank you everyone. And if anyone else has any insight, please share!
  19. I haven't had my surgery yet, but when I came across this pic I immediately thought of all of you.
  20. I'm glad you all liked it !!!
