Almost 2 Weeks post surgery -- How many calories?
Kapoorvilla replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even gas can feel like hunger. As for calories I was getting only around 700 at 4 weeks out. However someone suggested I eat every three hours to keep metabolism moving. If I eat all I have logged in my fitness pal that will be 904 calories. I say if because some times I can't finish the meal I plan. Now at lunch I am trying to eat a hormel complete. I don't think I will eat it all and that is repeated at other meals so maybe 800 calories is more what I am eatting. As for liquid I have seen a lot of folks worry about not being restricted enough during liquids. That will change as you progress to regular food. -
Thanks lucky!

I am in the three week stall for two weeks now. I understand the frustration but what can we do. I am not eating too much and I am haveing out put if you know what I mean. I started today with the suggestion to eat every three hours to help the metabolism. Making sure I am getting my fluids and staying active. So like you I can only sit mad cause I went through all this and nothing is working! Date of surgery 277 2 week check up 257 Today 260 Very hard not to feel like it is not going to happen for me.

Where Is Everyone From?

North Carolina -
Hey this was the exact path I took. I was sleeved 12/5 at 277. 12/20 at 2 week visit I weighed 257lbs. The I started purée I went up to 261. I am at 260 this am. There is a lot of threads on here about 3 week stall guess that is what has got us. I am going to try eating every three hours starting tomorrow because some on here suggest that will help metabolism. I know it is frustrating and seems like the scale will not move but it will sooner or late. Best advice I have been given is to stop weighing everyday although I still do it is good advice LOL! Also look at inches loss. If you don't currently track this begin it will surprise you.

All of my December sleevers...
Kapoorvilla replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too was sleeved 12/5. I was down 20 lbs but gained 2 and and have stalled since 12/21. I do see inches coming off but I wonder what my doctor will think when I see him on Thursday. 1st 2 Weeks loose 20 and second 2 weeks I gain 2. The three week stall seems to be holding on to me. -
I am having mine now. I just have a 1/4 of a cup before bed. Feels good to the tummy.

Last day of puree!
Kapoorvilla replied to Kapoorvilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will be hard to get the liquid. Everytime we eat we lose an hour. In a 16 hour day if you eat every three hours you loose 5 hours. So I guess that means about 6oz every other hour to get the 64 oz my NUt wants. The good thing is at 5 meals a day you only have to get 12 grams of protien per eating to equal 60. My metabolism tested slow maybe I should try this. -

Got my first hospital bill yesterday. It is only for the first day in the hospital and it is near 80,000.00 I feel so guilty for the emotional and financial stress I am putting my family through. I also feel outrage that because my doctor had an accident he is billng me these extravagant bills. I am still going to recieve another four days worth of bills. One of those days will include the second surgery to fix what he messed up the first time. Wouldn't it just be right to say hey the slip of my knife cause you harm so I am not going to bill you anything but the original surgery price!!! I have insurance but have no idea what I will be left owing. -

I believe too and I add my prayers to this young ladies. The Lord can make such a difference. Praying he blesses you and yours. -
I went through this a bit before pre opt diet. Many call it a food funeral. Just have your mind set that you will stick to the preop and post op diet.

Time To Check Out My Hospital's Er!
Kapoorvilla replied to lizv123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My two yorkies were seriously emotionally scared by my unexpected absence after my complication. They stuck to me like clue and if I head for the door they come unclued! Doggies can make one feel so loved. What do you call a happy lassie? A jolly collie!! -
Would you do it again?
Kapoorvilla replied to Kaila312's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 26 days out. To be honest if I had not had the surgery and knew everything I do now.... No I would not. I could not risk leaving my daughter with out a mom. I would not risk losing the years I do have to gain some I may never see anyway. I would not risk burying my family in medical debt. I a m not saying this surgery is not necasary for some or that each individuals should not have the right to choose I am speaking only for me. All of that being said I now find myself sleeved and I will make the most of it and brace myself for the finical onslaught of medical bills that will soon be flooding in. -
Leak Survivors - A Little Help!
Kapoorvilla replied to Lissa_S's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't have a leak but let me say after a bowel being cut, No if I was on the other side and understood how I could own one of those rare complications NO!, I would not do this to myself or family. I beg anyone considering this surgery consider the real possibility you may not make it and then all those years they promise to add to your life is gone along with all the years you would of had if you did not do the surgery. -
Questions after near death experiance in operating room?
Kapoorvilla replied to Kapoorvilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the whole "you will breeze right through" thing was played up while complications, where always followed by but that is less than 1% and happens in patients who have other severe health issues don't worry you will do fine! Not to mention this whole mentality of herding us through in groups with our check list of standard test to be done. I think it would improve the experiance greatly if there was individual care. Each of us on our own path not shuffling through as groups of cattle headed to market. That is the way it feels looking back. I got caught up in the sale of the program and willing drunk the kool-ade believing this was going to be the best thing ever and I would breeze right through. -

Iggy I really believe the " you will breeze right through" is the kiss of death! If I am every in a pre op waiting room and some one says those words to me I will run screaming through the halls gown flapping wildly for all to see! Of course if they ever get me back to OR it will be because I am to sick to crawl away from them. -
I brought the hormel dinners not the purée just the regular ones and then puréed those. They were good. Also Ruth's chicken and tuna salad's from the deli area of grocery was good
