Will you cheat for Christmas?
Kapoorvilla replied to Egan317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon is strick 2 week pre op and 2 week post op liquids. Then 2 week purée and then 2 soft before finally reaching regular food. I was so surprised when on my extended stay in the hospital they brought me watered down mash potatoes. They were a little more than soup consistency but were no doubt mashed potatoes. -
It is really hard in the liquid pre and post op diet. It will get better when you move to puréed. To be honest I felt the same way and now that I am on my first day of purée I am wishing to just be able to eat normal food again! LOL Seriously though gas and acid can make you feel hungry when your not so do the gasx and the antacid. Also get in the fluids and move about. Truth is we are stuck with these tummys now. I think accepting that helps! Best of luck

Welcome! You are doing some great stuff to get you on the right path! The exercise will help your body be strong and ready to heal. I would go ahead and cut caffeine and really up Water intake as more ways to prepare your body for fast recovery. Time will pass before you know it and you will meet many having the surgery on the same day as you by the time you get there. Spend this time looking at all the info you can. Learn and know the complication that can and do occur so you are sure you want to tackle this with a child so young. Notsaying you should not just saying know the risk and then decide what is best for you and yours.

Kapoorvilla replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said sugar free hard candy was fine so I am sure sugar free would be fine. Good luck on your surgery! -

Wow 1975 posts!! I don't know if I will ever make that! I have been on a lot as I recoup but you know how it will be after the holidays when everything gets back in to full swing: helping my hubby in his work and ministries and the house, kids, taking care my Dad. I will have to try and pop in even then, this site is great motivation!

Wow I noticed on my last post it stated advance member. That was on my 30th post. Does any one know what the other titles are and at how many post each are reached? Just curious. This site has been great to help me through an extremely painful time both phiciscally and emotional. I think I am healing now but emotional I still fear further complications!

How Far Out Can You Get A Leak?
Kapoorvilla replied to jhansen71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No worries on me pushing any limits Jimmy, I had a major complication with a cut bowel so I am really careful. As a matter of fact today is my two week so I moved to purée on my plan but I am really taking it easy and slow no push it over here! -

What kind of advice do you wish you had in the beginning?
Kapoorvilla replied to college_chick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you have ever had a c section or any type of abdominal surgery ask an MRI is done to check and plan for scar tissue. I reported c section but I didn't ask for MRI and he didn't order it. He cut my small bowel and I winded up with two extra surgeries and four extra nights in hospital. I am lucky to have survived, I think it should have been checked out more carefully and the cuts made more skillfully. -
How many weeks of liquid?
Kapoorvilla replied to LeahMae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 3 weeks preop, should have been 2 but my surgery got delayed. The I just finished 2 weeks liquid post op. Now I have 2 week purée and 2 week soft. The Jan 22nd I am on to regular food. It is most certainly a journey but I can't believe how fast five weeks past to be honest! Just stay busy it will pass! -
Just downloaded it!

How Far Out Can You Get A Leak?
Kapoorvilla replied to jhansen71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found an article that had two patients with leaks at 6 and 9 mons out. Leaks this late or rare but still scare me because I had a very rare complication during surgery (small bowel cut) so now even the rare seems like a very real possibility!?!? -

HELP ME! I'm three weeks out and ate a piece of toast!
Kapoorvilla replied to geralynbrock's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Are you emotionally or phyisically distressed or both I don't think it will phyisically harm you past a very painful stomach for a few hours. Emotionally you feel like you failed so there is only one think to do. Pick yourself back up straighten up the big girl under pants and get back to doing what you know you should. Seriously none of us are going to be perfect. We are all going to have slip ups. The pattern of behaviour is what is a must for success so you are still in the game. Have a meeting in the bathroom with you! Look yourself straight in the eye and tell yourself you did not lay down on that table and be cut to loose to a piece of dried toast! Before coming out of that bathroom be sure you understand yourself and what your goals are! The get at reaching those goals! You can do this! -
Tucked it in, first time in a very long time
