I am 4 weeks out.. sometimes I hiccup... I'm wondering what causes the sneeze. I can understand the hiccup, sort of but not the sneeze.. Does anyone know why that signals being full. I'm just curious. I've heard several people say it.

I felt the same way. I never wrote letters, but I considered it. When I put my boys to bed the night before surgery, as I sung to them I almost cried thinking it might be the last time. When I left the kids at the babysitter's, I looked back at them as I walked out the door and thought, "this might be the last memory they have of me"... but each time I thought something like that, I reminded myself that the odds were very small that I would die... but if I didn't have surgery, my life would be shortened. The morning of surgery, I was very calm. I felt that if something went wrong, and I didn't make it, I was ready to go.

I couldn't do the broths either... It smelled soo bad! I was nauseated a lot of the time I was in the hospital. I could only do Water too. I tried the popsicles but couldn't eat much of that either. I think, at home, you will be able to drink broth because it will be something you choose and it will taste and smell better. The first few days are hard to get much in and that is ok. I couldn't do it either, but each day is easier. The day after (or maybe 2 days after) I came home, I really started taking the liquids seriously and started timing myself and drinking an ounce of water every 10 minutes. Right now, the water is more important than anything else. I could NOT drink those Protein supplements that the hospital had.. just the smell alone made me want to be sick! Sounds like you are right on track.... I'm sorry you can't get rid of the gas. That is the worst part, I think... but walking is supposed to help.

Is it just the incisions that are hurting? It does hurt to get up and move around but it really helps you in healing. The more you do it, the faster you will heal. Every day gets better. Actually, in the hospital, I just wanted to go home. By the time I left there, I could get around ok, and sit up on the chair for a while instead of being in the bed, but I still felt sore and bad... after coming home, I improved so much faster. Will you go home tomorrow?

The drain was my worst problem too. I could not wait to get that thing out. They will remove it at your first appointment after you go home. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt. I worried about that. LOL.. Do you have staples? I did.. but some other people only had steri strips.

It is normal for it to hurt when you sip. Just take small sips, it will get better each day. Where do you hurt? I noticed that if I took the pain meds, I got really nauseous. Walking a lot is the best thing for the pain, especially if it is gas. But, even pain from surgery lessens if you walk around often. Do you have anyone there to help you?

I get leg cramps if I don't get all my water in for a couple days in a row.

Yes, I had no problems or issues with him. He is always straight forward and I like that. I haven't had any complications at all. He is a good doctor.

Yes, he did my surgery 3 weeks ago and my sister in law's surgery a year and a half ago.

Also, sometimes warm liquids go down easier and don't hurt... like chicken broth. I still drink the broth from chicken noodle soup if I'm having trouble getting my liquids in... and yesterday I ordered some Unjury chicken broth protein because I hate sweet protein shakes... I'm hoping I'll be able to get all my protein in using it. Good luck to you.. it will get better each day!

At 3 days post-op, no. I was about like you... but then I decided to take it more seriously and drink an ounce every 10 minutes. It worked. Yes every time I took a sip, I could feel it go all the way down and land in my stomach and there was a little cramp every time, but you have got to keep drinking or you will end up in the ER with dehydration. It gets better every day. I still don't get all my water in every day but I'm getting better and better.. some days I get it all in and some days I don't. I am 3 weeks out.

I'm almost 3 weeks out and my husband keeps offering to give me a protein boost, but so far I haven't taken him up on it. LOL

My doctor said no cardio for 4 weeks. :-(

Go out to eat anyway. Let him order what he wants and you can have soup. It can still be a good day. :-)

I don't have my gallbladder either. I'm a little over 2 weeks out from surgery. I don't have severe pain, but I do get soreness in the area you mentioned. It is usually if I have laid on my side for a while or if I sit in a certain position. Then I feel that soreness for a few minutes. I'm assuming it is torn muscles. I'm glad you feel better. :-)

I dreamed that I died. I saw my dead body but I was thinking "I'm alive!!" and then I was sitting on a couch talking to my mom (she passed away 3 years ago) and she was explaining to me that I had died. I asked her how I could be dead if I still felt alive... but I never got an answer. I am a little over 2 weeks out... I had this dream 2 nights ago.

This is exactly what I was told.

I had a hernia and my doctor did not repair it. He knew it beforehand and said he probably would not repair it. He said that with my weight loss, the hernia will probably shrink in size while I am losing. I have not had any problems at all with the hernia since surgery. Before surgery, I had a LOT of trouble with it. I had problems swallowing everything... but now, everything goes down smoothly. I would have sworn he repaired it, but he said he didn't.

I felt the "what have I done" feeling for one day in the hospital because I was so nauseated. I discovered it was the pain meds causing the nausea. That feeling goes away pretty quickly. I felt a lot better once I got home... every single day gets better and better. I'm a little over 2 weeks out now, and I feel almost normal again. I say "almost" because I can't eat much of anything and that is not my "normal" but it is my NEW normal... :-)

All normal. I went through all the same things.. except wanting to eat a big meal. I guess mentally I might have wanted to, but physically I didn't want it and knew I couldn't do it. I guess that is head hunger. I had a little of it right after surgery but it went away pretty quickly. But, all the other things you mentioned, yes. At 5 days after surgery, that is all normal. Good news is.. I am a little over 2 weeks out and now I feel back to normal. My incisions are only a tiny bit sore. I can walk normally and my stomach doesn't feel weird when I swallow anymore.
