Calories, Carbs, Fat, Protein, Oh My!
doxieville replied to happytobehere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's crazy how diff everyone is. My NUT has me only counting carbs and not worrying about anything else. In her defense, I agree w her. My body is very insulin resistant and when I go above 20 grams I not only don't lose weight, but I start craving carbs. So i really think it's how each individual reacts to carbs, because we are all different!! -

I was put on gallstone meds. Didn't make a difference. But that's not to say that it does not work!! We are all so very different. -
Tools For Eating For Those Measuring Portions
doxieville replied to Boofster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm....at 3 months out I really don't weigh my food anymore. I eyeball my protein and will sometimes weigh it if its a new food. But my body is so good at telling me 'enough!' And I listen to it! I threw up once due to overeating and that was enough for me. -
How Much Weight Loss?
doxieville replied to ttammara's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
RareGold, I agree!!! My goal is 140, set by my doc. To me, I want to be size 12/14. In my 30's that was a good size for me w/o looking gaunt. Good luck!! -

Should I Be Able To Do This?
doxieville replied to spieldose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At one week out you are still swollen and numb. I'm resisting lecturing you, or criticizing you too badly because I don't know you.... But you did come here for support. So next time you want to disobey your doctors orders, go ahead. Lots of people have 'permission' to eat sooner than others. But if you hurt yourself because YOU disobeyed your docs orders, you will be the one paying the ultimate price. Be grateful that you are doing so well. Don't abuse that. If your cravings are that powerful, then you really should seek professional help. You want this to be a life-changer and unless you work the program in your head too, you may not be successful. Ok... Lecture over. :-) -
MGT- thanks for posting abt Chad2rad. I was just doing a search to confirm if that was him. To the OP, contact Chad. I am buddies with him on My Fitness Planner and he's a great guy. I remember when he first posted on here. Now, wow! He's got so much more self esteem and is enjoying life, going out to eat with friends. You CAN do this. Yes, it will be hard. The fear of the unknown can be paralyzing. But it can also be liberating and amazing. Hugs!!

Please Pay Attention To Your Pain!
doxieville replied to momof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry you had all these complications! But THANK YOU for posting this. I sometimes feel that people on this forum don't take gallstones seriously. I had my gallbladder taken out 6 weeks after my sleeve surgery. Did i want another surgery so soon? Not on a bet!!! But i knew it had to come out. I'm so glad you are doing better!! Hugs! -
Mixed Feeling, It Hurts!
doxieville replied to SweetSaso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry- in a few months you will be able to sit w your friends and enjoy them. You will eat less, but by then you will have learned how to eat for you and how to make it look like you are eating more than you are. Nobody noticed that I had no turkey, and tiny bites of other items. Nobody. And that b-fast/dinner table will soon become more about love & family than food to you. It's ok to feel like you do, but don't dwell on it for too long. This is the start of lots of good things in your life!!! Next time, suggest a b-fast party at ihop so you don't have to cook!!! :-) Hugs!! -
Isn't it fun to be able to eat good, healthy meals and know you won't walk away hungry?

I am a little over 3 months post-op & have lost 50 pounds since this started around April. I'm quite happy with my weight loss even though it's slow, it's been consistent with about 2 pounds a week; I have 50 pounds to go. What I'm confused with is suddenly I have stinky armpits!! It started a few weeks ago. Maybe my fat is burning up stored stinky cells?
