Rapidly Gaining Weight 2 Years Post Op Sleeve Surgery
doxieville replied to nikki042's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Both my NUT and SUR made it VERY clear to me that I would have to be diligent and live a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life. Both had stories about people who had lost the weight but didn't keep it off. One day while waiting for an appt w my NUT I saw a woman who had gained back 50 pounds about 2 yrs postop. She had in her hand a huge starbucks coffee (don't drink it so I don't know the lingo) with all kinds of writing on the side. While in the waiting room I casually asked her what she was drinking. I can't remember it all, but she told me that it wasn't 'sleeve approved' and had gotten addicted to them again and was gaining her weight back. It was really sad. Addictions can grab ahold of any of us and we can fail. We need to realize that we have to work the program. Forever. In whatever capacity that means for you to be succesful. This is why it drives me nuts when post-op people on this forum post that they aren't eating because they 'aren't hungry' but are still losing weight. That not feeling hungry won't last, and when hunger does come back, they won't have learned anything about changing bad food habits. That doesn't seem like success to me. Sucess is learning how to use food to live a happy & healthy life. And that does take work! This isn't the magic cure that so many people are expecting it to be. -
Rootman, both at the same time? How heartbreaking. What happened? chocolate dapples are not only gorgeous, but they have such sweet personalities. Most people don't realize that the personalities of doxies vary depending on their coats. Thanks again for the compliments.

Same as Kim. As long as you do your pre-op work, you should be ok.

Cosmetic Questions For Post Weight Loss Phase
doxieville replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree w your wife. Wax the back for sure! Leave the sexy hairy front alone. Lasik surgery wld be great, but also there are so many stylish frames these days. As for plastic surgery? Go on your trips. If you find that the extra skin bothers you, then consider the surgery. You need to wait at least a year after you are done losing anyway b4 plastics bcs your skin will still tighten. Your under chin may be genetic. If it bugs you, get it sucked out in a year. Be the best that you can be and be proud!! -
When your body attack & inflames a body part. Not fun and it hurts. This particular one is in the upper chest area- putting inflammation on rib joints & collar bones. It can be really painful. Feels like a horse is stepping on you.

Why won't your doc give you Celebrex? That is an approved post-op NSAID.

Thanks!! It was just shedding too much and looking limp & unhappy. Now it looks healthy and can't see the thinning spots!!

Help- Hair Is Falling Out
doxieville replied to Earwood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 8/21. Had long thick hair. Always take Vitamins, Protein, Biotin, drink my Water. I wash my hair about every 3 days with high quality shampoo bcs I have dry skin/scalp. Last month it started falling out and I now have some bald spots. It will grow back and i'm wearing cute winter hats in the meantime. But i'm sick of all the long blonde hair everywhere! It's worse than my dogs shedding. So today i'm going in to get a pixie cut. I, like many others before & after me, will lose hair no matter what we do. I've embraced it as part of my 'shedding' of my old life. -
Is It At All Possible To Drive The Day After Surgery?
doxieville replied to lucky8mb1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree w everyone, esp Fiddleman. Even if the doc has another surgery run late and can't discharge you even if you are ready, that will mess things up. Also, in most states hospitals cannot release you w no driver if you've had narcotics in your system for 24 hours. -

I lost 8 pounds and my surgeon was very happy. My NUT not so much. But she doesn't look at the big pic like my surgeon does. -
Hair Hell - Please Give Me Good News....
doxieville replied to ShannonK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shannon-'i'm with you. My hair was my crowning glory also. Blonde and thick. So thick barrettes never worked. I had to struggle to get a pony tail holder around it twice. I'm 51 and not a gray hair in sight. At months out, my hair is so ratty. And thin. I had it cut a few weeks ago in layers to just below my ears but i may go even shorter. I don't mind; really, i don't. If anything this has shown me to really appreciate the good things in life. This surgery has really humbled me.
