    August 2012 Sleevers?

Sleeved 8/21. 53 pounds down. I lose on average 1-1.5 pounds a week. I've had stalls but I just keep working the program and know that by this time next year i'll be fit and healthy. Try to look at the big picture., stopping to Celebrate the small victories along the way. That makes stalls easier to deal with. Hang in there!!

    Ok, I am officially insane!

So.....I just want to add that this is something that what people call us 'old timers' are frustrated with. The OP posted that she was eating items that she shouldn't be eating. Two weeks out and eating fried dough can be life threatening, never mind unhealthy. So if we don't call her on it we are guilty of not 'supporting' correctly. We can't say it was ok for her to eat it or justify that it was ok. That would be enabling her AND when other newbies read it then they may find a way to justify bad eating. Is it tough love? Yes. No doubt. But it needs to be. At only two weeks out the OP should have some knowledge of what she can and can't eat. And if she doesn't then we need to help guide her, and that guiding IS telling her NO to bad foods. If she doesn't want our help, then she shouldn't post. I for one hope she does continue to reach out and can understand why we won't give in to her bad eating. This sounds cruel, but OP, your mom sounds like a bit of an enabler. Don't let her sabotage all your good work so far! And yes, please go the store and get some good foods. Check out the food & nutrition forum for ideas for shakes etc. Yes, you will lose weight eating poorly, but you will not be healthy. Take this time to retrain yourself and learn to eat to support your health. I do wish you the best of luck.

    NSV: size 16!

Lol! I know.....sigh. The top is actually a Lane Bryant 18/20 and is too big. I am now in size 14/16 lane bryant tops. I have about 5 shirts that size in my closet. And 2 pairs of size 16 pants. So my days of 'shopping' in my own closet are almost over. :-( Thanks for the support!!

    Staples

Titanium is safe from the magnetic field of an MRI, so MRI's are safe.

    Staples

Hi Jennig! The staples are permanent. But they are teeny tiny. They are titanium and perfectly safe.

    Alright..alright I am sold.

Why do they have to be in the frig? I've got really sensitive teeth (Sjorgrens Syndrome) and can't handle cold drinks very easily. Thanks!
  13. It's a bit strained when it comes to eating. We don't eat together anymore and have agreed to disagree on his food intake. He is about 40 pounds overweight and knows it. But....he has to be ready, i know from my own experience that I had to be ready. At least he doesn't bring food items into the house that tempt me.

    Hot Chocolate

This is my 'secret' treat. It does not have Protein but i get plenty of protein in my food & Protein shake. I suppose one could add Protein powder if you don't get the Water too hot. It is a bit high in sodium for those watching their sodium. But it is so much cheaper than any Bariatric hot choc. It's about $4.00 for 26 servings.

    Slowly losing

Or you may need more! You need to find the magic number for you. I wasn't losing at a lower cal level and my NUT upped it to 1000-1200, with only 20-30 carbs. That works for me. Good luck!!

    post op question!

It took me about 2 weeks to be out of pain but about a month not to feel so fatigued. I felt like I was in quicksand and moving was just such a chore. And just as a side note: i don't think that those of us who have hung around here for awhile are bothered by questions that are posed politely, even if they are repeats. :-)

    Slowly losing

What's your goal weight? Those who need to lose less weight generally lose it slower. Just keep working the program.

    Work Out Pants

Last week I went to Walmart & bought 3 pairs of danskin pants & tops. White, black & grey. I had NO idea that section of clothing was even at walmart! I'd never strayed past the Plus size womans dept!
  20. Can someone tell me the full name of the gastric bypass and also what the abbreviation is? My sister and i are having a debate. Thanks!!

    Fresh Fish Ideas

Pan fry it quickly in a pan w a little butter. Add water if need more moisture. Likewise put it in an oven to bake. Fish can be complicated or easy. I try to buy wild fish instead of farmed whenever possible. But Costco has this premade dish: 3 pieces of salmon w pesto butter on top. You take off the lid, put it in an oven for 20-25 minutes and presto! Soft yummy salmon.

    Chia Seeds!

I don't grind them up or make them into a jell. I couldn't tolerate the texture. So i just throw them in my protein shake. I'm assuming i'm still getting the same benefit as pre-jelled chia seeds?
