  1. I paid $17,500.00 flat rate for the hospital and surgeon. My insurance covered all of the pre-tests but would not cover the surgery itself. Go figure.
  2. Sounds like a trip to Kohl's is in my future, Thanks
  3. I wear petites...18WP are too big and 16P are too small. Are there any brands that make 18P? I can deal with baggy clothes most of the time but would like a pair of jeans that fit,
  4. I am 6 months out and still don't really get a full feeling. I know that I should eat 1/2 to 3/4 cup at a time depending upon the density. If I eat slowly I often get a sneeze or two which I am assuming is a sign I am full, but I mainly rely on measuring or eyeing the quantity. am amwhichwh
  5. 1 or 2 Hershey's Kisses packs a big punch.
  6. I have osteoarthritis and was worried about dealing with the pain once I stopped my NSAID. Strangely enough, 95% of my pain was gone immediately after surgery. No one can explain it to me, my ortho doctor said the anesthesia must have just done "something." It has been 5 months and I still have very little pain, there still isn't any cushioning in my knees so I avoid heels and steps and anything that isn't low impact. I was looking at knee replacements prior to surgery, but now the pain is tolerable. It is frustrating that my doctor isn't interested in understanding what happened. Good luck.
  7. You know that the math doesn't add up, you had a few extra bites of this and that but not enough to gain several pounds. The up and down part of this "thing" can make you crazy. You are a smart cookie, you have done a lot of research and know that if you stick with the plan it does work. Get rid of that doomsday thinking. You are headed in the right direction even if the pace is slower than you would like. You can do this!
  8. You are so right, it does get better. It gets better a tiny bit at a time until somewhere down the road you wake up and realize that you are doing this and that you feel good again. Hang in there.
  9. I reached Onederland today, it has been years since I weighed under 200. I should be thrilled but I am not, I have been hovering at 200 for a few weeks and it is my own fault. I could blame it on a stall, but it is really old habits rearing their ugly head. A bag of honey mustard pretzels in the afternoon, a cookie before bed, etc. Not nearly the quantity that I used to eat, but enough to keep me from losing. I have to take a step backwards, no cash in my purse means no money for the vending machine. My husband can't bring junk food in the house. I know he thinks I have moved on from that, but I am an addict and will probably never be able to have sweets in the house. I am scared now and appreciate the tips and support that I get on this board. I am so close but yet so far from being successful, Thanks for listening.
  10. I keep Atkins bars on hand and have one in the evening if I haven't had enough protein for the day.
  11. Not sure how old you are...I am 55 and have a lot of issues with arthritis related pain.
  12. I am not even close to goal, but I think about this a lot. I plan to find a few of the most disgusting pictures of myself at my highest weight and keep them close by to look at as needed.
  13. Trust me, at this stage if you eat more than a bite or two of anything with sugar you will probably be miserable. There are a lot of good sugar free options, keep trying until you find the right one. Good luck, and don't give in. You can do this!
  14. Congrats! How much insulin were you taking?
  15. You should be eating around 1/2 cup of food at each meal, are you able to eat that much?
  16. In order to lose weight, you have to reduce the number of calories you consume. How does your friend define starvation? 1200 calories a day? 1000 calories a day? Where is the line?
  17. Holy cow, that is awful. Where do you two live?
  18. Good job. A picture is worth 1,000 words.
