  1. Im a newbie here and I am super excited for tomorrow to come.. I definitely feel blessed to be having this opportunity.. I'm so glad I found this tool to help me connect with other sleevers.. sometimes people who haven't walked in your shoes just don't understand... God willing... all will go great!

Good Luck! Wishing you well. I had mine on 10/15/12 and I was home the next afternoon. Let us know how you do. I also recommend starting on My Fitness Pal after surgery. ????

  2. My surgeon told me it would be a good idea to take some over the counter Prilosec for reflux and that it would help the swelling in my stomach go down. I went to get some but all I could find were capsules. Is it okay to take a capsule 4 days post-op?

I open the capsules and pour it in my Water or Crystal Lite as per my doctor's recommendation. I do that 2x a day.

  3. I confess...

    - I haven't been to the gym in a month.

    - I have weighed myself everyday this week (normally only 1-2x a week) because I'm SSSOOO close to the century club!

    - I get really irritated with some people's "holier than thou" preachy' date=' opinionated attitudes on this site which makes me not post for fear of judgment and ridicule. Why can't we just all get along???

    - I'm really sad about getting rid of all of my clothes. All I see is wasted (because I have A LOT of clothes).

    - I've only told a few close friends this... I plan on staying single during this journey so I can see what kind of "ass I can pull" and truly enjoy the attention I get! ;)[/quote']

I hear you about the clothes. I took a small portion to a consignment shop to sell them. I get 50% of the sale.

  4. I don't get too much answers on a lot of my questions..I'm not special or anything..but need help!!..I need a vote..here's the question ..

    1) I only have a week off of work..will I be OK?..I have an office job. How did you feel after 1 week?

2). Stay the night at the hospital or go home?

What are your votes ..please help!!

Definitely stay in the hospital. I am 9 days out and can pretty much move around but tire easily. Definitely walk around during work and not just sit there.

  5. I had my surgery on Monday' date=' October 15th. Are there others who had the same surgery date? I'd like to know how you're doing. I had been doing great, but today was rough...mostly mentally... and I can't figure out the feelings in my gut. How are you doing?

Sleeve date: Oct. 15.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy[/quote']

I had my surgery the same date. I am doing pretty well. I am getting sick of the Protein shakes. All the milk is just so clawing. I walk during the day. My incisions are driving me because they are so itchy!

In the beginning I had A LOT of heartburn. I have acid reflux to begin with and I still take 2 pills a day for it.

I visit my doctor on the 24th for my 1st post op visit. I hope it's all good. I had a bad day yesterday. I was weepy and just couldn't shake it until I asked a friend to take me out and then we went for a walk.

  6. Hello all' date='

I just had my surgery Oct 15 2012 and I am doing good. Just have a lot of questions. I am so glad we have a forum for this,I feel like you need a lot of support doing this time. This is a long road ahead of us and a brand new journey to foresee..

    [/quote']

I had mine done on the 15th as well. I'm doing a lot better than I was a few days ago! I agree with you about the questions. I already called my doctor's office twice! My post op appointment isn't until the 24th.

  7. Hello everyone' date=' I have finished my preop appointments and just got my approval for surgery :-D... Unfortunately I still have to wait because my surgery is not until January 2013. :-(

That feels like so far away, but I am glad I found this site. I am still scared especially for when I have to do the liquid diet before surgery. I know that it's not going to be easy but I hope to find someone néw fiends here and get some helpful advice. Does anyone have any suggestions on good tasting Protein? Or at least one that does not leave such a chalky after taste?

    Marilyn[/quote']

    Hi Marilyn,

I like EAS Lean 15 vanilla Cream. It doesn't give me a chalky taste at all. I mix it with SF almond milk or non-fat milk. I picked it up at Walgreens.

  8. I am a 15th'er. 4 days out now. Immediately after surgery and through the next day was not a walk in the park' date=' but I survived. I found out that I am extra sensitive to Morphine which is the drip they had me on. Made me VERY weird. REALLY out of it and just feeling out of sorts. I would be in pain and push the button, the have to sit up with a basin swallowing hard trying not to vomit for about 5 minutes. Then the nausea would stop finally, and the pain would ease, but it just kept me "weird". My gas was right at my diaphragm, which made swallowing challenging, but I managed and I walked the halls about 3 times on Monday, once on Tuesday. Tuesday I just paced my room mostly, and slept. They brought me lime Jello, which I hate the flavor, some chicken broth, which smelled burnt (and I still can't figure that one out) and some 50/50 water/apple juice...ding, ding, ding....that was the winner. They said I had to get 2 medicine cups worth of any of them down within one hour and I could leave. Took me 1/2 hour ;) Called the nurse, they called for a wheelchair. Once I was home, I took the liquid Lortab and did SOOOOO much better. I walked laps around the inside of the house The "weird" wore off quickly and I started to feel MUCH better. Gas pains still at my diaphragm made it challenging to swallow, and Wednesday I didn't quite get all of the liquids in, though I did get my Protein, Vitamins and meds in. Yesterday was MUCH better still...gas pains subsided and I am now getting all liquids, Protein, Vitamins and meds in. Belly is tender and bloated, and VERY itchy at the 5 incisions! But I am quite pleased and doing well now. :)[/quote']

Good to hear kmore. I was on the 15th too and I had trouble with the liquid Tylenol w/ codeine. Threw that up twice. They finally switched and put something in my IV for pain. It helped.

  9. I feel the same way!! I am 16 days out. The urge...Please send me a message if you find any info on what to do. My nurse said to talk milk of magnesia' date=' but I dont want to have to take it just to have a bowel movement. Sorry...TMI[/quote']

I called my doctor's office today about the bowel movement issue. They said to take to Benefiber. I did and it WORKED. I put it in my Water. It was cherry pomegranate.
