  1. I go in for my surgery a week from today' date=' but like others, when I was at my lowest (around 165, I was 20 lbs. shy of my former/current goal weight) I would hear that a lot. I'm not one of those people who throws around the words "They're just jealous" but in some cases, I truly believe it. I think it was about half people who hadn't seen me in a while and were just honestly shocked. Innocent enough. And half people who knew me well and saw me often, who would make comments and sometimes downright snide remarks. There are some loved ones, or co-workers, or friends who will consciously, or unconsciously try to sabotage you. They are so used to you being in a certain role, that having you change, a lot of times for the better, is unsettling.

Whether it's you becoming more confident, dating more (if you aren't married), enjoying life more...it's hard for certain people to see. There's a reason some marriages struggle when one spouse loses a significant amount of weight, or friendships change when, for example, the funny fat girl suddenly starts getting a little more attention at the bar. Suddenly they are the wingman. I think for the most part people who make snide comments or try to sabotage you (the "oh c'mon, it's just a little ice cream/pizza/cake" people) don't start out wanting you to fail and trying to hurt you. I think people have a very natural reaction to a changing person and changing roles and sometimes they act out in not so positive ways.[/quote']

    Well said!

  2. This has been a huge problem and struggle. I hear it almost daily from the witches at work! Lol the other day the overweight receptionist at my job asked me to check her blood sugar(I'm a nurse) because she was recently diagnosed with diabetes. She then had the nerve to tell me that I need to stop losing weight because I'm going to look or get sick. I'm thinking well your obesity HAS caused you to get sick:-( but I'm not that person!

  3. I am not trying to be mean or anything' date=' but you should check out the vets forum and read about all the people who have put a lot of weight back on.

You will definitely lose weight with the sleeve. the thing to learn is , how to keep it off.[/quote']

Thanks I will definitely check it out.

  4. I never lost hair! A good portion of people do but not everyone loses hair after surgery. I will be a year post op Oct 2nd. I don't think I did anything special but I did make sure to drink a Protein shake everyday for breakfast and take my Vitamins when I remembered. My hair is still thick and I haven't noticed any shedding out of the ordinary. I'm not saying these things will work for you but it's worth a try.

Hey you!! Long time no see!! I also have not lost hair more then I did before surgery. I guess the octosleevers are a lucky bunch. I did lose a gallbladder tho;-)

  5. Has anyone had problems with their gallbladder only post op? My doctor thinks I may have gallstones. He said 30 percent of pwople will get them post op and the solution is to just remove it' date=' but I was curious how common it may be from someone not a statistic lol[/quote']

Just got mine removed at 10 months post op

  6. Thanks for sharing! You look awesome!! My date is Oct 17th I am excited and nervous' date=' so seeing other success stories keeps me positive. Again, thanks and great job![/quote']

I know exactly how you feel! I broke out in hives for weeks before surgery my nerves where so bad. Keep in touch and feel free to ask me any questions you may have:-)

  7. So I now have 4 new incisions to go with the 5 I had from my VSG. I didn't get to eat or drink anything for over 24 hours by the time I finally had surgery. I am amazed at the restriction I have now with my sleeve. I had good restriction before. I could eat 5-6 oz of meat/food and feel satisfied. I had no trouble getting in my calories or Protein. Now I have no idea how I'm going to do either. I'm happy that I have this new restriction' date=' maybe it will kick start my weight loss again. The suckiest part is that I can't work out for at least a week. Will have to get back at it next week...[/quote']

Wow did the same dr do both procedures? My bariatric surgeon removed my gb. He used 2 of my old incisions and 1 in my belly button, so no new holes! Lol

  8. I sure hope so. Totally want planning on this when I came to the ER today lol

Omg I here you!! This is exactly what happened to me 10 days ago! 9 months post sleeve! Had about 4 attacks before the last one which was the most severe made me call my bariatric surgeon and landed me in the er then admitted to the hospital and surgery the next afternoon!!! You will be fine and feel so much better. Good luck!

  9. Oh and here's a chain mail for the "other guys"

This is an atheist chain mail. If you don't send this to 10 friends in the next 24 hours' date=' nothing in particular will happen. Nothing good and nothing bad, except whatever would have happened anyway.

If you do share this though, you will be encouraging others to think, and search for verifiable answers to life's questions rather than accept questionable advice from unverifiable sources.

    Ok unsubscribing now :)

    [/quote']

Seriously Laura I cannot believe they took it that far!!!! Lol

  10. Atheist have committed really terrible acts' date=' but never in the name of atheism. Religious commit these acts in the name of god...[/quote']

And bigcountryab stay the hell out of my inbox with your come ons! I'm sooooo not interested

  11. Is there a way that I can delete this thread!! Some of you really need something to do with your time! It's a chain letter my 12 year old niece sent me it wasn't meant to ruin your lives, as it obviously has!! Don't like it don't look. And at this point I'm going to say what's on my mind and I don't mind if it gets me deleted from this forum. GET A LIFE!!!
