  1. The "Special Olympic" comment - not a big deal in my book. Anybody can mis-speak.....he clearly did not intend it to disparage mentally handicapped people. It kind of made me laugh that people made such a huge deal of that comment, yet were ok with the content of his "interview".

    I'm with ya. He was just making fun of himself, something certain former presidents would never have been human enough to do.

  2. I don't mind that he went on Leno per se, but I do think it was more of a PR stunt to take attention off of treasury's involvement in the AIG fiasco, and off the economy in general.
    Well, if that's true, it tells us alot about his character. Deceitful.

    Did you folks even watch his appearance on the Leno show? The reason I'm asking is that he addressed the "AIG fiasco" specifically for almost 7 minutes. Just thought I'd mention it.

  3. Manatee, when you first mentioned the possibility of Lipo on these boards, I began to think about it for myself. While I'm still not quite at my goal *points down*, my surgeon said I should look "great!" at 170...just 12 pounds from where I am now. I suppose if I lost every ounce of those pounds directly above my navel it could work! :-) Otherwise, I may need lipo. I just want to be able to tuck my shirt into my jeans! Is that too much to ask?? *whines*

    Anyway, all that to say I'll be watching this thread closely! Thanks for letting us all in on your journey.

  4. Manatee.....be careful! Why do they keep filling you too full? Are they using fluoro? (sorry if this sounds judgmental. it's not meant that way)

    After losing 122 lbs., I was on my first plateau for almost 2 months. I figured it was over, but I still have some tummy to get rid of. (I'm dying to be able to tuck a shirt into my jeans!) Anyway, last week I lost a pound and mentioned it at support group. The psychologist said, "Oh! You're over your plateau!". I replied, "Well, I was *that* day" and laughed. I thought if I lost again it would be another couple of months. They always say the last 20 can be really hard to lose. Soooo, short story long, I lost another pound! Maybe I really can get to goal!!!

  6. Holly: it sounds like you are doing good. Exercise will up your metabolism to help keep it coming off! I work out 5-6 days a week. It's slow going for me now, but I finally lost another pound yesterday. :-)

    LemonLime: I hope your approval moves along quickly so you can get the show on the road (as my Dad used to say)!

  7. I catch any/all misspellings. It's just the kinda woman I am! :thumbup: How much it bothers me depends on my mood, but I really think adults should all know the difference between the "there/their/they're"s.

    One thing that I see a lot of is people saying "all the sudden" when it's really "all of a sudden". I don't know, but that one never fails to make me shake my head.

  8. I am so excited, I was able to jump into the seminar on the 11th. :) They had a cancelation so i jumped on it and am in the 11th instead of the 23rd. I really am hoping to get this surgery before the holidays. Hopefully now I can. I plan on getting my paperwork filled out after the meeting and faxing it first thing in the morning. :)

    Great news, amber! Woohoo!

  9. I've had a slowdown in loss because I'm close to goal. Consequently, I am having a bit of a hard time of it now. Amazingly, what has been helping me is to read the following from Goethe each morning. Maybe it will help someone else, too.

    Each indecision brings its own delays,

    And days are lost lamenting over lost days.

    Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute;

    What you can do, or dream you can do, begin it;

    Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

  10. How did your 1st fill go? I have mine on the 14th and a bit nervous aobut it

    Deedra, the fills really are no big deal at all, at least mine never are. You're in and out in no time. The process does seem daunting, but they have it down to a science and it's over very quickly. Seriously. :wink_smile:

    Hi Diane, thanks for the welcome. :thumbup: That is actually good news that it was not quite 3 months. I'm hoping to get through all the classes in 3 months. My goal is to get this done before the holidays. I would love to get it done in early november but not sure how realistic that wishful thinking is. :tongue:

    I can't wait to hear about the success stories. :cool2: I'm so ready to get this done.

    Hi Amber! Welcome. I would think that they would have you all set up in 3 mos. or less, but it could be that they are booked up for some time in advance? Are you working with Mary? If so, you can rest assured that all is being taken care of as quickly as possible. She's a real gem. I think we all wait so long to actually feel err..desperate for lack of a better word...that once we've made the decision, each delay is agony. I know I felt that!

    Best to you both!

  11. Well, I've been a lurker here for awhile (this is my first post). But I am scheduled to get banded on the 12th of August. MY Dr. requires two weeks of liquids only. I tried to see if Scotch qualified as a liquid...to no avail. But starting Tuesday of next week, I'm officially out of the buffet line.

    I do like the idea of no carbing until Tuesday to get me weaned off of carbs. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Hey Junior. I see no problem with low carbing it until you get on the liquid diet. If you do decide to do that, you might join the people in this thread:

    Best of luck to you on the 12th!
