I'm the same way about posting pics on the internet, Mischevious. But you look great!! I can definitely tell a difference. Here are my before and afters. I'm not crazy about the afters, but they are all I have sooo...

Congratulations on getting your date!!! Please (secretly, of course) give your hubby a hug for me. It will make all the difference that he's willing to help you along on this journey. I just can't believe how fast the last year went by. You will be amazed, too! I like the powdered Meal Replacement shakes that you can get at Healthy Weight Supermarket. Especially in the summer, when you make them in the blender with ice and maybe some fruit, they are so filling and refreshing. I usually get the big box that seems kind of expensive, but since each packet gives 35 grams of Protein I only use half each time. Okay great...now I'm hungry! The owner of HWSM will help you with any questions you might have and don't forget to ask for the Dr. Edwards discount (10%!). Another one I like is the EAS Advantedge Carb Control pre-made shakes. I get them at WalMart by the pharmacy. At the one on Independence (James River) they are across the aisle from all the others and on the bottom shelf. They have silver packaging, so look for that if you decide to try them.

Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge

Thanks! :biggrin2: -
Holly, for me the fills are just a non-event. Nothing to be nervous about. If you avert your eyes, you don't even have to see the needle. Let us know how it goes! Congrats on the 25 pounds. Good job!

I have no doubts that you will do it!

Well, that's a bummer, Manatee. I hope you get it fine-tuned soon. Remember: slow and easy wins the race. Today I got on the scales and I have lost 120 pounds. The more I think about it, the more it seems like a dream. I mean, I didn't feel this way about 118, but 120 is just kind of surreal. I'm loving it, but it's strange!

*turns head* But seriously, a lot of people have trouble with it!

That's too funny!

Kathy, Don't be discouraged by the scales. In fact, maybe you should go a couple of weeks without weighing. Weighing too often tends to get us down and focused only on that part of the journey. We should instead look at the BIG picture. Are you able to walk that distance faster today than yesterday? How are your clothes fitting? It's great that you are also weight training and while that is good for you, it takes a while to actually build the muscle that will amp up your metabolism. Just keep your eyes on the prize...and don't look back at past failures.
-
My opinion, you could have any of that any time you want.

Welcome to this thread and congrats on getting a date for surgery! It will be here before you know it. I managed to sleep through the tornado siren, so I'm glad it was a non-event in the city! Yeesh. If you have any questions, we'll try to answer them!

Hey Kookie! As far as drinking water, I don't see why a popsicle wouldn't count toward the daily total. You get water from a lot of fruits and veggies, too! I usually just count what I drink from a glass, but if you know you are close to having proper water intake and know you got some from other sources (like a popsicle) I don't see anything wrong with counting it in. Since it started getting warmer, I've been making sun tea with the Lipton Decaffeinated tea bags and sweetening it with stevia (herbal sweetener). It's really been hitting the spot and I don't have any trouble getting my water in! :-) I reserve my dessert eating for special occasions. If it's one of those occasions and we're eating out, I just get Soup that will slide on through for my meal, then have the dessert. Otherwise, I just have very small portions a couple of hours after a main meal. That way, I get to taste it, but don't go crazy or feel like I've been deprived. Just use your own common sense and you'll do fine. :-)

Kookie, it was nice meeting you! The size 12 is working...but not by much. I tried to allow for a little "shrinkage" (lol) to come, hopefully soon! KJL, congrats on almost making it to ONEderland! You'll be there soon at this rate!

With your positive attitude, you won't have any problems. It's good to hear such optimism and courage. Good for you! I've also been guilty of not "pushing" my PCP on symptoms I've experienced. We are taught to trust them, it's only normal.

My insurance turned me down for my pannicolectomy
legster replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Becky, just FYI, I think the obesity law that was suggested is a website: Obesity Law and Advocacy Center Check them out. I know they have helped many with bariatric insurance situations. Legs -
Oh, and more on topic... I found something here, that might be just what the OP is looking for: Medical ID Card -- Medical Emergency Card

My main motto since being banded is, "It's all about the leftovers! Gotta love 'em!" I rarely cook my own lunch...just heat up part of the leftovers from going out on the weekend. It's great! Most Entrees I can get 3 band-size portions out of. If it sits in the fridge very long, I stick it in the freezer. No muss, no fuss!

Wow! That's incredible. What's your secret?

I am far past the pre-op stage, but I eat wherever I want. Just less. I do enjoy the weight watchers menu at Applebee's. I always have leftovers when I eat out, so I really look forward to those later!

Happy holiday May 2007 Bandsters! May you make good food choices on this long weekend!
