  2. BigGirlPanties

    One week today

that's great...just be careful, don't overdo... you are still healing on the inside BIG TIME!

    Pre-Op nerves and worry

should I just say "ditto" ??? I was more excited than nervous...I was so READY to get my tool and become a more healthy person... I could barely walk with all that weight on my joints (knee surgery is next)... what you are feeling is pretty common... good luck!
  4. Try it very tentatively (little bit will go a long way now)... all spices and things of that nature is what we need to make things better for us to consume... you can always check with your doctor

What kind of bathroom scale do you use?

I use one with numbers on it...LOL I have the Weight Watchers digital as well... I used my 20% off at Bed, Bath and Beyond to get it
  6. FMLA dates usually run from the first date of "incident" until it rolls off the next year....very few companies start the year with a clean slate. Be careful of the "take care of yourself" thing... find out exactly how many days you have... if FMLA does not cover, ask about disability coverage. Please make sure you aren't losing your job because of this... GET IT IN WRITING (been there, done that) almost lost my job But, to reiterate...with FMLA you DO NOT have to tell anyone anything, and if HR knows they cannot share! Tho, for myself, if someone asks, I tell them...especially those that may "need" it ... education is really needed about the process. Good luck...stay strong... you've got this!
  7. @@Luana526 as I say..."this too shall pass"... right now you guys are in the breaking in period...it won't last... Everyone is different, so it's hard to explain to some how they will react when not all do the same. All of us, I think, had to tread lightly when we first started eating "real" food... broccoli made me throw up...now all is good... I did have to find my way with some foods, but, in general I can eat anything I choose. I don't choose, junk or high carbs like potatoes, bread, etc on a regular basis, as that's not good. I also have a problem with Water for some reason, used to drink it by the gallon, but now I have found that decaf iced tea is the one I turn to on a regular basis. Please just give yourselves time to adjust, smaller portions, eating slower, learning what you can eat is all part of the process, and it IS worth it, promise!

  9. "This, too, shall pass" give it time try to eat slowly listen/feel your que to stop practice I still have a few sips now and again when I eat... but I try... don't give up !!!! You'll get there
  10. something like vanilla is good in most places...a very non-offensive smell and a natural odor killer but that's a great idea... helps YOU relax too

    Question about sick feeling

nausea is common...but call your dr. it may also be dehydration...it rears it's silly head in all kinds of ways... whenever your concerned, call your doctor, that is what they are there for! Take care

    I can't sleep..

this is now a very common surgery, being laproscopic also takes away a lot of the risk what you are feeling is very normal...it's easy for us to say, "relax" "just breathe" ... but emotions run high with the anticipation of any surgery. sleep when you can... it will be done soon... let us know how well it went for you
  13. I recommend this board to EVERYONE! So helpful and informative... another way to "check in" regularly... Welcome to your journey!

    just WRONG

First, they won't put raw almonds in our vending machineS...they won't put one little row of raw almonds in there...and there are 3 of us that have had WLS! Now, today I was drinking over my quota, so I ran out of the water/iced tea I brought in. The Water here is disgusting! So I take my $1.25 to the vending machineS, upset with myself that I have to pay for water...but guess what...no water!!!! Soft drinks and OJ in both machines! Ridiculous! When I mentioned it to my manager, she looked at me like I had 3 heads! It's bad enough that they don't have a FREE water system here, but now they have taken away my only beverage option!!! I just have to VENT...can you tell I hate my job!

    Carbs and Protein

Carbs are a no-no... you basically, cut them out! I only have a "true" carb once a week, when we go out to eat, I have one lovely hot roll and savor every bite! But, that curbs me for them... Protein is a must, but it's based on ounces as you progress... as a rule, we really aren't calorie counters. You will/should find that your doctor will give you guidelines as you progress Good luck

    Sleeving... its actually a thing

Sleeving isn't as well know as the other options yet, but in my opinion, it is the BEST option My sister and addiction therapist both had the full gastric and wish that the sleeve was available to them (10 years and counting for each). I know I thought the same thing about McDonalds...fun isn't it Enjoy your new found pleasures!
  18. as soon as I got my hands on a bag! (pre-op) I LOVE the caramel ones...I feel like I'm "cheating" I put my 6 on the desk in the morning and by the time I leave, they are gone. They are good for you at any time...just don't take along with your iron pills, they don't work well together
  19. BigGirlPanties

    just WRONG

it depends on the bottled water...aquafina is the purist...double oxmosis done on it... But if it literally STINKS coming out of the faceut, forget it! Like I said, I bring my lunch and snacks AND water...but if I run out (which is rare), we should have something available...at least WATER! Believe me, I HATE paying for anything out of the machines...but sometimes you have to do it. We only get a 1/2 hour for lunch...and there is nothing close by, so I always am "packin"... lol

    Isn't it Ironic

I've never heard of Doctors Remedy nail polish...where do you get something like that? This has got me quite curious.
  21. walking helps alleviate some of that...but if it is a constant problem, talk with your doctor of options for relief... gas problems are common in the beginning....good luck and feel better

    Onederland

    Congrats...you look FAB U LOUSSSS!
  23. I wouldn't suggest it...protein is what we need most...your body doesn't produce protein... Check with your doctor if you are feeling that uncomfortable, you may need probiotics or something like that to help... and HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! hope you feel better soon

    Isn't it Ironic

All cultures are bad with woman's self images...I guess you really don't think about other cultures until something like this comes to the forefront... Good luck on your surgery...keep in touch... we've ALL been there in one way or another.
