    Food-Stamps supplies ideas

@ldoyle that's what I was going to suggest too... I get my Protein, Vitamins and a great scar cream from InsureNutrition.com ... it gets delivered right to the door I still use the protein for my "snacks" ... I like them and they feel like a "cheat" with the chocolately goodness... Good luck to you...

    Lets talk about shoes!

my feet are thinner...I've had to buckle them up tighter; etc...but I haven't shrunk in actual size... I can't walk in heels anymore because of my knees... wish I could

    Baby food during puree phase?

My doctor didn't allow baby food...you need to check with them, as they are all different on how they want you to work your plan... good luck

I feel like I'm six again

LOVE this story...ahhh my Chicago, how I miss thee... congrats, you are doing so well!!!
  5. My doctor didn't want me to get on the scale after my surgery, until my next visit with him because of the fluctuations in the beginning as your body readjusts itself... don't worry, it will happen, if you are following your program. If you have a concern, contact your doctor for advise...but he'll probably just tell you to "hang in there" like we are

    Losing Weight Preop

right, ask your doctor or insurance....but in most cases, they used the BMI at the beginning of the pre-op ritual for the qualification for insurance, since that is what got you to this stage... but it's always best to check with the professionals on that...just to be covered....
  7. Love that @Teachamy I think if we were totally honest with ourselves, we can ALL say we have had days like that . When I can, I will have a hot cup of decaf tea, the slow sipping helps a LOT, by the time I am done, usually, the moment has passed... getting out of the house and walking or something like that is always a good one...or take a bath or paint your nails....something where you can't TOUCH food while you are doing the activity Good Luck...We are all behind you (pushing the chips into the garbage...)

    Not losing

As the tortoise stated "slow and steady wins the race"... Think about the last time you lost weight at that rate and it may help you appreciate what you have accomplished! I waited and waited to get new clothes, as I hate to shop... until my pants practically fell off my hips! ...I HAVE to wear a belt now LOL...never thought I'd do that...much less find one that fit me... Today I noticed my jeans will slide down over my hips without unzipping again... they don't feel too big, but I guess they are... so I'll have to find some smaller ones... Goodwill, here I come again!

    Snack Suggestions

Nuts may not be something you can have just yet... but almonds are a staple in my life now. One snack I make are parmesan chips ... I spray a baking sheet (or use parchment paper) put small piles of shredded parmesan (in bag, or freshly grated not in green container) and pat them down a bit...they don't spread much... bake for about 8 minutes at 350... I top with salsa... I put them on a plate, top them and sit down and eat them slowly and enjoy the bit of crunch and savory taste... you can use them for your hummus and other items like that as well as just plain, if you like... They are an easy "go to" by making up a batch to have on hand... as stated above... bag up individual servings for yourself, you will be grateful you did in the long run!
  10. Yes it should pass...have you spoken to your doctor about your concern? Just to be on the safe side? What we forget, is that our internal structure has been re-worked...and you may just show a few small incisions on the outside, but the insides will take quite a while to fully heal... so take it easy...but if you are concerned (and it sounds like you are)...contact your doctor so they can run some lab work on you Good luck

    3 days post op

It will get better...have you spoken with your doctor? You may want to try room temp or warm/hot beverages like decaf tea... you might find them easier, and more soothing to get down... Good luck...but, like I mentioned, if it continues to be a problem, contact your doctor so you don't dehydrate...

  13. @Miss Mac I remember that post about the gummies....it was hysterical!!! Never liked gummies...my stepson doesn't understand that swedish fish (the original gummy, if you ask me) has a different consistancy that today's gummies...LOVE the fish...but can't/don't have any of them anymore... ...but he won't try a fish... go figure.... ah well...I digress...

  16. It's such a personal choice...as I am sure you will hear from responses that follow... for me, I tell people, and educate them if necessary...but even tho I'm not a very open person, I feel that some people really need to know the facts...

    6 weeks post op ?'s.

I stay away from carbs as much as possible... I used smashed cauliflower in place of mashed potatoes... you can even use it for a "pizza" crust. I have spaghetti squash, which is super yummy with sauce and some meatballs... you learn to substitute to get rid of as many carbs as possible and you will be much better off in the long run... once your body purges it, it should be easier to avoid the temptation... but if you have a little bit on a regular basis it will add up... on occasion everyone NEEDS some carbs tho.... good luck to you...

    Hi

YOU need to be the informed one...many people don't realize that it is still WORK, and this is just a tool. Obesity is a disease...it is documented as such since June 2013, which shows how we have progressed If someone hasn't lived your life, they don't know what you have gone thru... so just take their "opinions" and move on... you can do this for YOU!!!

    Obesity: It's A Global Problem

Which is probably why Obesity is now considered a "disease"... we need to teach our children better and get OUT from behind the computers and television and MOVE! Great article...thanks

What do you do instead of "Going out to dinner"?

We still go out to dinner...but I order "smart" now...no carbs... and take home leftovers for lunch-which I bring everyday... nothing wrong with going out to eat...but it's the company not the food that should be the focus. I love all these ideas above as well... my husband is the shopper ... not me...but we will go to flea markets (I do LOVE a bargain) and things like that... I don't know why, but he has an adversion to garage sales ... but he works on Saturdays, so I usually do that on my own, if I'm in the mood...now that I can walk and function like a human being again... these simple pleasures can be enjoyed again! I love the idea of doing "tourist-y" things... I haven't lived here that long, so there are many sights that I have yet to see... we have done them, on occasion, but when family/friends come to visit, I LOVE seeing the "sights"... I may plan our next date around that idea... thanks for that .... Can't wait to hear other ideas from y'all!!!
  21. I'd say "ditto" on almost all of the above I have RA, so losing weight was a MUST for relief in my legs .... I also had to lose weight to get my knees replaced, but since I could barely move, I just kept gaining... This surgery has been a god-send to me (as to may others, I'm sure)... I may not be at the goal I set for myself (yet)...but I'm maintaining and I'm moving and I'm becoming happier with who I am and not "what" I am

    Hi

Congratulations....it may be (seem) like a long journey...but it will be worth it... you are so lucky you are taking control of this while you are still young... this will help with the loose skin and tone, for sure! I wish I had done this YEARS ago myself... Good luck to you...

    Medicare skin removal

I am not familiar...but i can tell you that EVERYTIME I go to the doctors, I report my rash problem, even tho I have it under control right now...that way, IF my insurance covers it, I am covered

    Plastics scheduled for July 22nd

@ladykatie_ some insurance will cover plastics after WLS if you are having issues or your tummy hangs to a certain degree... I have yeast infections under my tummy and breasts if I am not careful...even being out in the heat... when I come in, I have to be sure to do a full wipe down or it breaks out again... I have reported this issue to my doctors, so that IF I am covered, I have documentation!
