NSV shout outs
BigGirlPanties replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
found this post and LOVING it... about halfway thru all the NSVs.... so I'd like to add of few of mine: 1. was able to cross my legs was HUGE when I realized I could do that...but I was able to cross them in a movie theater and had room!!! 2. the pants falling down issue happened with me too, my new friend-a belt!!! I never used one before. 3. smaller EVERYTHING... donated to GW and cleared out closet...the other day I was wearing one of my newer blouses and my friend told me to get rid of it, it's too big and made me look frumpy! I'm sure there have been many more, but just being able to walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath speaks to the healthier side of me...LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!! -
We all have the problem of giving too much information... I don't see the real problem with what you said, you were being honest...did you speak with her about your concerns for a February surgery date and see if there is something that you can work out? Seems a bit ridiculous that they have that kind of power; but I know they do...because I was told I had to pass the eval as well when I had my surgery...and part of it was a "test" on a computer that took almost an hour ... which was stupid, since anyone with a brain would know how to answer those things "correctly"... I also had to attend a nutritional class with an addition counselor...during the class, she kept telling one guy he was SOOOO not ready for surgery; and I had to agree with her, the things he was saying was RIDICULOUS for someone with a weight problem... in the end, it's all worth it if you do it the right way! Good luck

need some advice
BigGirlPanties replied to tanya.elizabeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there is a guide somewhere... you can probably ask your surgeon...the one I remember is the Protein (fish/meat/chicken) would be about the size of a deck of cards... since protein is the most important, thats the one I remember; so when we go out, I cut my portion and then get a "to-go" box for the rest for lunch the next day I know that's just a little thing, but hope it helps -
Insurance has no specific guidelines
BigGirlPanties replied to likemeagain's topic in Insurance & Financing
Each insurance has different criteria for the surgery; actually I am kind of surprised they talked to him about YOU (HIPAA)...but they probably answered in general terms. When I checked with mine, they said that it is a covered benefit if the Dr shows the medical necessity for it...but my surgeon has that under control ... but it still took about 3 months for everything to process and for me to complete all the pre-op stuff before I was scheduled... but I would not trade it for anything!!! -
I'm in the dog house and cant find my way out.
BigGirlPanties replied to nancy264's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad today is a better day... you may not be getting enough on your pre-op diet... I remember the first day or two were difficult...but I had my mind set in the right way and then it was fine! Some people do struggle more than others...but find someone you can talk to...even if it is a therapist... it's an uphill battle, but YOU CAN DO IT! -
I had mine removed prior to surgery (like 5 years prior)... but if you are having it removed, it shouldn't have anything to do with the surgery... whatever the case...good luck... I was in the hospital longer for that thing that my sleeve surgery!

Has anyone heard of Venus Factor?
BigGirlPanties replied to MsVictorious1020's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Never heard of it...tried to google it; but can't access it from work... my suggestion...don't try anything like that without talking to your NUT or doctor! ...but that's just me -
Living in Georgia, I don't get the opportunity to wear leather often, but I still have one I LOVE from when I lived in Chicago (need it when I go to visit)... I will hate giving it up... guess I'll need to find a new one for my Midwest visits... and yes, I feel so good in it, like you, RJ, it brings my "sexy back"

I'll be the leader for our group Bariatric meeting, and I thought it would be nice to bring in some "go to" recipes that you all like... anything from protein shakes, chicken or crock pots (my favorite)... your help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

Sorry, I haven't been on in a while. My current favorite protein shake is Pure Protein. I get it at Walmart. I's 7.88 for a 4 pack and comes in chocolate and vanilla. It isn't pure whey protein, but a combo of milk protein and whey protein. It's low calorie and very little sugar. Tastes pretty good. Weight loss clinic will probably say it's bad for me. LOL.

Okay.......i bought them.....
BigGirlPanties replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My hubby is happy that my "Big Girl Panties" are skimpier and he has convinced me to buy some push-up bras and show the "girls" a bit more (usually when we are out together only)... he's so cute... 10 years and he still grabs at me too... I just love him to pieces!!! He was there when I was HUGE and he supports me as I reduce; he just wants me to be happy... but I'm sure he'd be happy with me wearing some boots, etc too ... Life is too short not to enjoy the simple pleasures! Congrats RJ (and y'all) on still having someone in your life that loves you like that! <3 -
If you choose not to tell them the truth, just tell them you have chosen to eat healthier this year... try to leave it at that and hopefully you won't get peer pressure to have "just one bite"... In my office, we all work in cubes that are 6' tall ... so it took quite some time for someone to even notice (I eat lunch at my desk)... so I had no problem here... good luck!

yes...did your dr prescribe something for the nausea? Mine did and it seemed to help... I seem to remember I took it for a few months after my surgery... and it should/will pass... call and ask WHAT you should take... they also say natural ginger is good for that, but I've never tried it

Okay.......i bought them.....
BigGirlPanties replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
sounds like a little of both!!!! -
Loose stools?
BigGirlPanties replied to terri82much's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the beginning, I had a few like that; but as the food "bulks" up, so will your routine. Just be ready for constipation... a benefit from eating right?!?! Crazy, huh? -
OK, I made the leap!
BigGirlPanties replied to MNMema's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...this too shall pass. You have to remember, you had SURGERY... so your energy level is diminished as you heal... don't rush yourself... step by step -
Why no caffeine?
BigGirlPanties replied to hrhlaurie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Coffee (especially) and some teas can be an irritant... caffeine whets your appetite, so it makes you feel hungry... I have decaf iced tea ALL the time...with tocani SF syrup (raspberry) or splenda/stevia... I don't like any of the other crystal lights etc ... yet... -
First consultation with my Surgeon
BigGirlPanties replied to Ariella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats...yes, self-pay does go a LOT faster than those of us that had to wait for insurance approval... good luck... no worries, be happy -

BigGirlPanties replied to LynnMarie88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Patience is a virtue
BigGirlPanties replied to honeyg317's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patience is a virtue...and I've NEVER said I was virtuous ... LOL I'm at a bit of a stand still now...but I understand your pain...just as I was about to be approved; I got new insurance...so I had to wait until I qualified for FMLA (1 year) and start all over again... but it's WORTH it! -
Anyone NOT have a NUT?
BigGirlPanties replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably... I have one at the surgeons office that I see every few months now, but she really doesn't help that much...or maybe I haven't felt the need for her. Between the sites here and the monthly bariatric meetings I attend, I get a LOT of nutritional info/insight... so you are not really alone on this! -
6 weeks out - Crunchy foods?
BigGirlPanties replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
be very careful when you stray into that section...it might even be too soon for you... check with your dr on some crunchy alternatives... some of those vegetable chips, etc., have hidden junk in them...read your labels, but you'd be better off making something yourself...check online bariatric recipes for help -
Vitamins! Choices, choices, choices
BigGirlPanties replied to SO.READY????'s topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I bought Celebrate in the beginning, but with the sleeve we don't have to be that picky about our Vitamins...just be sure there isn't a lot of sugar, I usually get mine on a buy one/get one from CVS, now (a year later) I'm on a multi-Vitamin, CoQ-10, Biotin, calcium citrate chews and D3... but everyone is different on what their doctors want them to take... -
How often do you weigh?
BigGirlPanties replied to Holly Lewis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
in the beginning, i did weigh myself often...but now, once a week or every other week... I try not to be obsessed by the number on the scale; but more of how I am feeling... -
Gaunt and an Amazon, really!
BigGirlPanties replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is so sad to hear/see how friends and family members react to our loss... fortunately, mine have been supportive on all fronts; but I have not lost it all ...YET... and my sister had a full gastric about 10 years ago... I hope the best for all of you that were affected this way and hope you find someone that is supportive and understanding...maybe another sleever ... love going out to all ! <3
