  1. for me, I probably had it lurking in the back of my mind for quite some time... my sister had a full gastric done over 10 years ago (would have had a sleeve if that was available to her)... I have RA, so my weight was ballooning out of control because I could barely move; this surgery has helped me immensely; but you have to find what and when is right for you... I wish I had done it sooner... good luck to you!

    My 600 pound life

My husband found the one on Penney and is taping it...but is this some kind of series? Seems like someone decided to do "reality" on WLS...but where are all the PRO people...the people that did what they were told and blossomed??? Not as big of a story, huh?

    Questions - Sleeve 2/10/13

everything I have read and heard (and experienced through other people) about the band has not been favorable. I did my research and the sleeve was the best option for me. Even at one of the classes I went to, the instructor had RnY done(10 years ago) and said, if she could do it all over again, she would choose the sleeve; also another one said that if you have 100 pounds or more to lose the band is not for you... I didn't like the idea of it anyway... I've had minimal problems with the sleeve, loving who I am these days!

    New :)

good luck on your journey... seems you are headed toward the "light"
  6. the sleeve is a "tool"...in essence, you still have to lose the weight "on your own"... eating properly and exersize is still important...but it will be easier with the surgery. I had RA, so I couldn't move and my weight escalated; now I can walk without my cane/walker if it's not a LONG walk .... IMO, I would not have changed a thing, except to have done it sooner. It's all up to you

    I can see the light!

the waiting is the hardest part...glad you are seeing your light...and soon you will be "lighter" lol
  8. Any surgery is scary...especially when you get more time to think about it... but "what if" you don't get the surgery and continue to gain weight; "what if" from gaining weight you encounter other health problems... you can play the "what if" game forever on both sides... but YOU have to be ready for this, you do have to make changes in your lifestyle... YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

    My 600 pound life

I am going to look this up on my guide when I get home and see when it plays again to dvr it... then when I'm feeling "low", I can listen to this and remind myself what NOT to do... I agree with all of the above, attention grabber/needer is apparent from all of the comments, even without seeing the show! This is informative and I NEED to tape it and save it for future reference!!!

    My 600 pound life

what show was it on and is it possible to still see it ... or should I avoid that mess?

How do you tell when you are full?

wow, I didn't know that was a "thing"... I had the hiccups too!
  12. breaks my heart to hear this ... I was in a (verbally) abusive relationship years ago... I didn't even really realize it until I got out... now my guy is wonderful, supportive, and happy with who I am "before" and "after"... I wish you all the best

Could use some help from everyone here...

Eggface is one of my favorites too...she talks about her journey and has great recipes!
  14. I will be moderating our WLS class/session next month, and I thought I could collate good websites (like this one), for day to day help, recipes, etc..anything that you found works for you... so I would appreciate any and all input from EVERYONE!!! Thanks!

    Should I call or wait?

think about all the GOOD possibilities...the possibilities are ENDLESS after the surgery!!! ... I haven't felt this good in probably, at least, 10 years!!! ...maybe more! :)
  16. I still struggle somewhat...I do eat healthy things when I feel like I HAVE to eat...raw almonds, vegetables etc... but something hot to drink always helps too...it slows you down and helps you pass the time...hot tea (decaf) or the unjury chicken soup...something like that may help...I helps me most of the time

    Flipping out!

you are not alone...there are MANY people on this forum that felt like that... I don't remember that feeling, to tell you the truth, I know I was anxious to have it done... best thing EVER! With it being laproscopic now, it's less time on the table and better for you all together. The benefits from this tool are IMMENSE... just remember you are not alone... it is surgery after all... we are here for you! Take care, good luck and get ready for a new life!
  19. BigGirlPanties

    is this normal?

each dr is different (and insurance) on what they want you to do...a liquid diet certainly won't hurt anything! Anxiety over surgery is normal...any surgery! But consider this is laproscopic, so that's better for you; and the overall benefits after the surgery is done... I was so anxious about getting it done, I couldn't wait until the day arrived!!! No regrets, best thing I have ever done for me! I have RA, so I could barely move prior to surgery, now I can walk most distances without a cane! It gets better every day... don't get me wrong, the surgery is a tool and you do still have to work at it; but with this tool, it makes it so much better! Good luck, we are here for you! <3

    Turning 21 in 3 months

I was told NO alcohol...like EVER! one sip and you will be on your butt because your body cannot tolerate it, beside the wasted calories... if you haven't started, I say DON'T... your doctor may be different, but there are no benefits from alcohol... you may want to wait until after your birthday to have it done if you are intent on partying like that...

    Should I call or wait?

don't you just love it when people leave messages like that...the assessment might be the therapist; but I guess you have to continue with the phone tag game until you find out for sure...

    Protein powders

I just ordered the unjury chocolate splendor...glad to know you liked it...Vitamin Shoppe has (had) it on sale
  23. BigGirlPanties

How long did the process take.

each insurance is different, so that can effect your timing...for me it was 3 months from the date that I signed up at the orientation meeting where the dr explained the different surgeries available, etc., to the date of my surgery... which seemed like FOREVER... but it was done and I am so grateful! It is a wonderful tool to help you on your journey! Good luck.

    Protein powders

I did it the easy way and got Slim Fast low carb pre-made in bottles, I found the chocolate very good; they told me my tastes may change after the surgery, and that was one of them (along with carbmaster yogurt)...couldn't take it after surgery...or I should say, it took a LOOOONG time to go down after surgery (had to use up what I had)
