    cant get nothing down

absolutely CALL YOUR DOCTOR!! You may be getting de-hydrated, and that's never good! Take care and let us know what happens...
  2. I JUST GOT THE CALL...I WAS APPROVED!!! I should have my Protein powder and scar cream by Friday...Monday the latest WOO HOO!!! ....and my surgery was about a year ago! So that's not an issue

    Frustrated on vacation

It takes a lot to "stretch" your pouch permanently...don't be concerned about that. I'm sure you are making healthy choices...eat what you think you should until you are satisfied and ENJOY your vacation...as we know, it's not about the food! With all the walking you are doing, I'm sure you will balance out just fine... don't worry so much, just enjoy your time...everything will take care of itself, eventually!

    Got a new job...

You have to work for the company for a minimum of one year to use FMLA...so if this is a new job, that won't help you... but ask about options!

    Starting my journey...

I told whoever wanted to listen...but mainly my close friends and family. My sister had it done 10 years ago (RnY) so they have all be supportive. I have RA, so I was like Jabba...as I have stated before... a big pile of goo on the couch! Now I can walk without the aid of a walker or cane...unless I am doing a LOT of walking, then I take my cane, just in case! I feel sooooo good, I can't explain in words! Just over a year ago I needed a walker to just get myself to the bathroom...it was pitiful... and because of the RA, I couldn't exercise much, so the weight just keep coming... My knees still bother me, on occasion, but NOTHING like before! The best thing I ever did for ME!!!

    Stall proof

are you talking about the 5:2 plan?
  7. Surgery is scary...but "you've got this!" Think about the benefits afterwards... the way it's done now is less tramatic to your body... Take a deep breath and just do it! You won't regret it; best decision I ever made for ME!

People who have never been fat!

I have been VERY lucky to that end...my sister had the RnY about 10 years ago (wishing now she had sleeved)... so my family is VERY supportive of me...as well as on my husbands side...but mostly HE supports me, and that's what matters, he wants me to be healthy! After all he married me when I was 350 pounds I don't tell people unless they ask, and I think most people are more Enlightened about the surgery and it's effects of us now...you should ask your family to check into some websites and read how obesity is KILLING us and that it is found to be more genetic than they ever thought before... Good luck! Just stand firm...this is NOT an easy way out... you still have to work at this!

    Pressure cooker

I've been thinking of getting a pressure cooker for that reason...meats come out tender. I use my slow cooker now, and it's great for that as well...but the PC cooks it quicker... I can't wait to hear what people have to say on this subject! Thanks for adding it to todays list

    Those stomach cramps WEREN'T normal!

Glad you are feeling better... yep... you have to TRUST in your feelings... dehydration is a problem ... glad they are getting you "pumped up"...feel better soon!
  12. If you buy something you don't like, you can add Tocani SF Syrup to them...even if you like them and just want a change...Wal-mart sells some flavors...I get them from World Market... the raspberry is MY favorite to add to tea and other things. My husband even likes them...he just puts vanilla and caramel into his ice water...
  13. awesome!!! I'd LOVE 6 weeks!!! FMLA is here in the States...stands for Family Medical Leave Act... when you have surgery, etc. it basically allows you time off without working about being fired (losing job)
  14. That is very common, usually associated with gas...so walk!!! That will help a LOT... if it continues, you always want to check with your dr...he may let you have gas-x or something...

    What's this 'leak test' like?

yep, mine did it after surgery, before "sealing me up"

    How does it feel?

It has been an amazing journey... I was a total JABBA...big pile of goo on the couch... plus I have RA, so I could barely move...needed a walker just to get to the bathroom! Now I can walk around like a "normal" person...I have to use a cane if I am doing a LOT of walking, so that's been awesome. I can cross my legs, don't need the extender for the seatbelt, my steering wheel is no longer in my lap...and on and on and on... I feel healthy, happy, and hopped up on life for the first time in "forever"!!! Best thing I EVER did for myself ... even if I never lose another pound... I feel like Tiny Tim being able to drop his crutches and take steps forward without help...that was an amazing experience for me!

    Is there anything more depressing...

Leave it to Rev to start another "hot topic" thread...! I started losing in clumps a few months out... everything has settled now, and I did get a much needed trimming (about 5 inches) because of everything that was happening... but like most, I don't regret my decision just because of some hair loss ... it is growing back and all is good

    A must read for sleevers

Thank You. I was born and raised in Oak Park. Great place to be from. Off I go to the hosp. cknapp319, on 17 Feb 2014 - 12:03, said: I was born and raised in Chicago and lived in Streamwood before moving down south...very familiar with Oak Park!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Help Me Choose! :)

I know two people that had RnY and said, if they could have, they would have been sleeved instead, but it wasn't an option to them over 10 years ago... the sleeve does give you the benefits of gastric bypass without losing the bodies inability to use it's organs, i.e-intestines... so you don't have to do so many supplements and stuff. Ultimately, the choice is your own, with your doctor factored in...but, for me, sleeve was the way to go! Sweets are going to bother you (ie dumping) no matter which one you do...no more sweets for me and I don't miss them!

    A must read for sleevers

My friend has also recommended that book...it is by the founder of this website (Alex)! She has found it helped her get over a plateau she has been struggling with for awhile now

hurts when I sneeze or cough

This is fairly common, because you have stitches in there and they are healing...so a sneeze or cough is going to pull at that...if you can have a pillow on your lap so when that happens, you can grab the pillow and hug it, it may help... tho if you're really concerned, always call your doctor...just to be on the safe side

    Creature Comforts?

Not really (for me)... you want to have a pillow in the car for the way home and when you are sitting, if you sneeze or cough, you hug the pillow and it helps...also for those bumps in the car, it makes it a bit more comfortable. You aren't in the hospital long, so I brought all kinds of crap and didn't need much more than my toothbrush and toothpaste... If you prefer your slippers to the little socks they give you at the hospital, you may want to bring them for when you go walking, as they will have you up and out asap after surgery to move and get the gas out... You want to have your Protein, etc., ready for when you get home as you won't be driving for a bit... take care! Enjoy your new journey!
  23. I am going on a cruise next month myself ... but I'm further along than you... at my 3 month mark (less than actually), I went to Vegas and got married... I was able to eat regular foods... following the guidelines... but slowly and small bites.... you can do this! You may want to check about bringing on your Protein... you will need it...
  24. Glad all is set, congrats! Doesn't your company offer FMLA?
  25. Good for you! Like we said, the first few days are the hardest as your body "de-toxes"... glad it's going well now!
