    Bread/pasta question

Dear Planetheather... In the World according to EggFace, she makes some awesome donuts, with no sugar or honey... you use almond flour and protein shake (I find the slimfast rich chocolate royale works best so far)... they are wonderful... but they can be addicting, like everything else... but you may want to try them as an alternative snack

    Bread/pasta question

There are no "dumb questions"...we all have to learn...I got this from a friend who had the sleeve and I think she got it off The World According to Eggface... I've tried it a few ways, but the best seems to be, heat oven to 350... then in a cookie sheet put a small pile of parmesan (the kind in the bag or fresh grated...not the kind in the "box"...that doesn't work as well, but it does work), flatten it down...the size it is, will be the size it is ... then I sprinkle a little olive oil on it and bake...about 8 minutes (watch it as they burn easy to find the right time for you)... cool and enjoy I tried to spray the oil on and that scattered the cheese (right, how dumb of me)... and I tried mixing the oil with the cheese before placing on sheet and it seemed like i had too much oil... still worked but the pan was a mess to clean up... I'm running on and on about it... but it's really basic, you will find the right way, I'm sure, for you... or we both can go to the website and find the EXACT recipe LOL!!! Just a few and I place the Salsa on top and I'm "golden"... they keep well too. They do have a tendency to be fragile so that's why I top them instead of scoop the sauce... have fun, you can top it with just about anything you wish!... make a mini pizza!

    Bread/pasta question

I'm with you guys...basically not adding Pasta or bread to my meal plan...no need...basically I have spaghetti squash, yum... or smashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes... zucchini for layers in lasagna; there are ways to still be satisfied with similiar textured foods to make you feel like you are having the "real thing" lol... I made a pizza the other day with a cauliflower crust...believe it or not, it wasn't bad One of my favorite Snacks are parmesan chips that I make and a little salsa... crispy and delicious ... I don't EVER plan on putting them back into my plan like before sleeve... bad for me, bad for tummy

    What am i doing wrong?

Helpful info...I will try that app! As for potatoes...try cauliflower instead...cook it up really soft and smash it ... it will be almost like mashed potatoes, but much healthier. Once you get to solids, you can make a pizza with smashed cauliflower and eggs for the crust. I was also going to suggest ricotta...the World According to Eggface has some great recipes... You really need to mix it up a bit...good luck!

  9. What Do You Think about BariatricPal Local Chapters? I'm IN! What I would like to ask you for is what you think about the above suggestions. Also, what are your answers to the following questions? Would you be interested in attending regular local chapter meetings in person? ***ABSOLUTELY Would you be interested in being a leader (or co-leader)? ***YES Would you like BariatricPal to provide agendas for meetings?***YES, structure is always good What additional support could BariatricPal provide to encourage your participation and/or leadership? ***Right now, I don't know...but I LOVE this idea Should there be limits on the minimum and maximum numbers of members that each Local Chapter can have? ***as long as there are two people to discuss, it'a all good What other ideas do you have? ***I'll have to think

    Just 3 more sleeps

I think it's more the hospital environment that drys you...plus your liquid intake will be impaired at first, so that affects your skin, and your lips... it doesn't hurt to have some in your purse at all times anyway, right? If you don't like the little socks with the rubber soles, you may want to bring some slippers to walk around the hospital with, as they will get you up and walking asap afterwards... good luck...you've GOT THIS!

    First consult today. Im confused

I agree with Photo... you have to decide what you feel is best for you...but I am of the same mind set as she is... too many people have had conversions to sleeve after lapband... the thought that you have to go in and get it adjusted regularly did not sit well with me at ALL. One of the things my NUT said, she believe (ihoo) that if you have more than 100 pounds to lose, the lapband is not for you. I am very happy with my decision, it's not as radical as a full gastric, I don't have to take all those Vitamins and stuff that you HAVE to take with full gastric; and I don't have to worry about a slippage because I have the band. My sister and my NUT both had a full gastric, and if they could do it all over again, both said they would have gone with the sleeve... so there is my 2 cents worth... You have to do the research and decide what you feel is best...the dr usually just tells you your options and lets you make the final decision... so... "is that your final answer"?

    Back Pain anyone?

Call your doctor, but it is probably gas...walking will help a LOT... the dr may recomment gas-x or something to help...this is not uncommon, but you want to make sure that is all it is... good luck....

    NO JUDGEMENT ZONE!

I would limit myself a bit, at least... like only one alcoholic beverage (wasted calories and carbs!!!) and then switch to Water... and no chips with salsa ... just the meal... you want to celebrate, but don't think this is your last hurrah, you just have to be careful and consider what you are putting in to your mouth... if you had a pre-op diet and your liver is not small enough, the Dr will not operate, or will give you a full gastric instead of just a sleeve... so you want to be careful. Mexican food has a lot of salt, so that can also bloat you...and we all know alcohol goes right to the liver...you may want to check with your doctor, they may have menu selections for you... or steer you in the right direction... remember we can have fun without stuffing our faces That being said...enjoy
  15. I LOVE ROSES too.... I planted some Joseph Dreamcoat roses and a Candy Stripe just before winter set in... it was so nice to be able to do that again My reward for losing 100 pounds (I had preset the reward) was a Coach watch... I had wanted one FOREVER, but my wrist was too large to have a real Coach "C" signature band... I got it from the outlet website and it FIT!!! SO HAPPY So everyday when I look down at it, it constantly reminds me of what I have accomplished... good luck to you!

How important is your goal weight for you?

My personal goal is important to me, as it is to probably everyone...but I am SOOOO happy right now with myself... I have RA and could not move without a cane or walker....even to just get up to go to the bathroom!!! Now I don't need them (unless I am doing some MAJOR walking...like sightseeing on my vacation next month)... and I don't have to sit every 5 minutes because I'm "winded"... I am still going to reach my goal...but for now, the new, today, version of ME is very happy

Ask your dr about the Vitamins you need...you can also go to InsureNutrition.com and fill out the form to see if you qualify for free vitamins, Protein shakes and/or scar cream. For me, I have to take D3, CoQ-10 with a Multivitamin, and of course, B-12 every morning...but everyone is different... Good luck...

    Protein bars

I have PowerCrunch...the chocolate mint is like the Girl Scout thin mints, and the vanilla reminds me of sugar wafer cookies...those are my favorites. I order from Vitamin Shoppe and they send me discount coupons for the store. Because of the raves about Quest bars, I went on my own "quest" (LOL) and picked up a few different flavors... the cookies and cream was quite good, I was surprised as I usually don't like that flavor...the white chocolate raspberry was awesome...not too sweet; I liked the cookie dough over the chocolate chunk; the apple pie was ok... I want to try the lemon and a few more flavors, but since the protein is high and the nutrients are better than the power crunch, I am ordering some boxes of these for a change. If you want something lighter, then order power crunch bars...but my theory is to TRY a bar before you order a box; everyone is different! Enjoy
  19. You also feel that way because you just had surgery!!! Keep on drinking, as much as you can tolerate, as often as you can... you need to keep fluids in, especially water/liquids... so the Protein shakes help, as well as FLUIDS FLUIDS FLUIDS... right now you still have to heal from surgery... you'll get there!

3 months post op nausea & vomiting

Call your doctor again! I had problems like that later than I should have...could be dehydration, or what you are eating... Ginger is suppose to help, if you can use that in your cooking...but in the meantime, you need something NOW... call them and get some answers... don't wait...FLUIDS, FLUIDS, FLUIDS!!!

    Caffeine?

the story I have is that caffeine is an appetite stimulant as well as a diuretic... I haven't gone back to caffeine in any way... decaf tea, etc... you may find that once you cleanse your body of the caffeine, y ou may not want it anymore...
