NSV... and this is one thing that makes it worthwhile

I'm with y'all!!! I go on vacation in about 2 weeks...sunny, tropical climate...probably not going to get a chance to do the bathing suit thing (thank goodness...no one wants to see cottage cheese woman!!!) but I did get some sleeveless items (thank you, Goodwill!!!) and capri...there will be parts of my body that haven't seen the sun in decades! LOL ... even tho I'm not at maintenence yet, the amount I have lost versus what I weighed makes me feel SO good about ME ....and that, also has been DECADES! '

    Best Protein bars EVER!

I love them too...the vanilla is just like a regular vanilla sugar wafer and the mint reminds me of the GS thin mints ... I alternate between them and quest bars... depending on what I'm in the mood for... variety is the key!!!

    Supersize vs. Superskinny

Does the American version have the same name?

    Questions

yes, your doctor knows best...my friend still uses a pre-natal as her post surgery multi...but I don't. Also, I know this bears repeating... you can fill out the form on InsureNutrition.com and you may qualify for free Protein shakes, scar cream and/or multi-vitamins! Good luck.

    Protein shakes

No I haven't tried them, but did you know you may qualify for FREE protein shakes with your insurance thru InsureNutrition.com....just fill out the form, and they do the rest... Good luck!

    FLYING...

You should be fine...but check with your doctor, just to be sure... you will be surprised, by that time, you will have extra room for that stupid, little airplane seat! Congrats on setting your date!

    Waiting...Scared.....

Personally, I was surprised how easy the liquid diet was after the first few days...those were a bit difficult as your body is "de-toxing" from all the crap we have shoved down our throats! I guess I was so excited for the process, I was willing to do whatever it takes, too... it is a bit of a challenge....harder for some than others...but you are READY... "you've got this!" Congrats!
  8. I got fitted at Catherines just last weekend! Boy, was I shocked!!! (in a good way) They didn't even have that small of a size in stock, so it's being shipped! I agree, bra shopping is the WORST ... and so expensive... they usually (as does LB) have a buy one, get one 1/2 price special going to make it more manageable. My husband bought me some of those genie bras, but I find I have to wear two to support...but the size is flexible. Now that I'm more of a "regular" size, I may try hitting TJ Maxx etc, you can usually find some great buys there! ...and the Quest continues ...
  9. I agree... with the fact that the doctor should have spent 5 minutes to at least say "hello"...geez and secondly and, maybe most important (to me).... is that our Vets always deserve better treatment than they receive!!! It breaks my heart! A dear friend has many problems and has to go to the Vet hospital HOURS away to be treated, which is ridiculous, especially in his condition. I am not going to get on my soap box about this...but y'all know what I am talking about
  10. ...also, when you have had the surgery you may qualify for Protein drinks, scar cream, and Vitamins thru InsureNutrition.com... I didn't qualify for the vitamins (you probably have to have a full gastric to get them)...but they sent me a months supply for free Good luck, hope that helps
  11. Sounds like you have been given some great insights and are READY! You can have decaf tea and coffee...my biggest thing was getting rid of the Diet Coke...I was SOOO addicted...probably a 2 liter (easy) per day ... I find I don't miss it anymore. The changes I have made because of this "tool" have all been positive. I have changed my way of thinking and eating... Protein first-always! The water/liquid intake is vital to everyone, surgery or not, the problem is most of us drink carbonated junk or coffee... Love your breakdown, it really sounds like your head is in the right place for this! Congrats!!! It really isn't that hard...I've been "maintaining" for awhile now... hopefully I'll break that soon and move on down

    Tanning

Funny you should mention this... I have been thinking of going for a spray tan to get a golden hue before vacation... always been so pale, don't sit in the sun either... for a tanning bed, you may have to wait a certain amount of time, I'd check with your doctor, as you are still healing... let us know what he says!

5 months out...tortoise or the hare?

PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE!!! Come on!!! When was the last time you lost 50 pounds in 5 months??? The last time I lost 50 pounds, it took me a YEAR on JC!!! If you remember, the tortoise wins the race...slow and steady is the way. Your body is adjusting to changes, it's all good... you are moving forward and your weight is coming off, and if you are doing the right things, it will continue... we can't compare ourselves to others, we all lose at different rates, based on metabolism, age, amount of exercise we can get in, and even how much we started at... don't downgrade the success you all have had...it's wonderful!!!' SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!!!

    camping

if you are using FMLA for your time off you have to be very careful about stuff like that... how far will you be from a doctor? can you still use cellphones? you shouldn't have any problems, but you need to be prepared if you do. you can't lift anything, you have to sit back and relax and just WALK and following your program, so where you do it shouldn't matter...

    Surgery Tomorrow!

Yeah...it's pretty simple stuff these days (for most)... you may want to bring slippers if you don't want to walk around in the socks they give you... toothpaste and toothbrush, and your hairbrush... you know, some basics...but you are only there a few days, and I couldn't read anything... I was tired a lot...so I watched tv or slept and WALKED... you've got this!!! Congrats!
  16. I think so, because you can only take in so much...but YOU have to be ready to make changes as well...the sleeve is only a tool, if you don't make the right choices, you will not succeed...so don't look at the surgery as a "cure all"... you can still consume junk food, like chips or other crap instead of eating Protein and you will not have success... you have to be in the right frame of mind for this surgery.... now my biggest "binge" is raw almonds!!! Things have changed and I don't miss all the junk I threw down my throat before the surgery!!!
  17. I was there four days because of fluids...everyone is different... you may be released in 3, but he wants you to prepare for a possible 5... good luck!

    Probiotics...

Is anyone else having a problem with probiotics? My eyes are dry, and so is my mouth, etc.... the only change, recently, was adding that so I can "go"... think I need to go back to Miralax...but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced anything with the probiotics... Thanks

    One week post surgery

Dearest Co-Cub Lover As we find with our beloved Cubs...we have to be patient and wait Your body is healing from the inside out...so you may not think it's any big deal, but DUDE, you just had SURGERY!!! Get that ?!?! SURGERY!! Your body needs to recover, the first few days you are still just recovering from the anesthesia... It will take time... take a walk when you can (and the stupid weather permits) at least walk in place if you can't go outside... to keep things moving on your insides... Take it easy, relax, follow the plan... you will be fine... and you will WIN (like the Cubs will...someday ...)
  21. You'd be better off with a small chili from Wendy's not the carbs of a potato! We have a place called Bojangles here that has rotisserie chicken bites!!! So when I don't have anything or don't feel like cooking, I pick up a tub...very yummy... I agree, Ruby Tuesdays spaghetti squash and smashed cauliflower are good! So easy to do at home too... I find that if you look to Protein first, there is never really a problem whereever you may go...

My biggest (and only) disappointment with WLS

Wow...I don't know of any dr that says to weigh every day... usually...max...once a week, same time; same day... You have to view the BIG picture...you are getting smaller and you know your body is changing... it will get there...just stay steady!
  23. If you are approved, the insurance company cannot charge you anymore than your usual deductable for medication... but you should not recieve a bill after the fact...if you do...CALL THEM... because that is not right... but if they told you there is no charge, there should be no charge... The price is always higher when they send it to insurance companies as there is a tax write off involved with the balance that's left...don't worry about it... just enjoy the benefits. ( I know about the write offs as I work for an insurance company ... )
