Every website of this nature is going to have it's pros and cons... this is the "FB of the WLS world" to me... I take it all with a grain of salt (some lime and tequila...lol) ... one of the biggest problems with written versus verbal is the "tone"... what may read like someone is blasting you may not have been intended that way. In my business (customer service) I learned a LONG time ago, not to take it personally... and that's how I feel about this website too... we are all here to learn, share and experience... and we have to agree to disagree sometimes...that's life... Well anyway, that's my 2 cents worth... I enjoy the insights here and will continue to enjoy the banter as well

There are guidelines on this website somewhere...but I can't believe your doctor doesn't have something to give you ... mine gave us the "Big Black Book of WLS" to help guide us with each stage. For me, carbs like potatoes are a big NO NO...maybe if you remove carbs and add Protein first, that will/should help

LOL...too cute!!! My husband told a friend of his that I had lost over 120 lbs...a whole person!!! His friends reply? "When you find her, send her my way, I'm lonely"

Congrats...the first few days were the worse...headaches as you "de-tox"...but after that, I was fine... When it gets bad, and you want SOMETHING, try decaf tea (no coffee) or chicken broth... the hot and slow sips most people find more soothing... Good luck, you've got this!

Very common reaction...I got more excited and less scared as time drew closer...I was READY... good luck, you've got this!

BigGirlPanties replied to Insure Nutrition's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Ndipilato once it gets sent, then they send it automatically every month for 6 months, I believe, so you only have to wait this one time... congrats, ENJOY!!! LOVE the scar cream!!! -

Don't have a costco near me...maybe I'll try Sam's or Walmart... thanks... could use the "assistance" LOL I'm not a fan of the smell of coconut on people (i guess it reminds me of suntan lotion), but I'll be HAPPY to put it in my mouth LOL Thanks kid! @RJ'S/beginning -
Best Place to buy protein shakes
BigGirlPanties replied to jennlee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Also you can go to InsureNutrition.com and fill out the form to see if you qualify for FREE (insurance covered) Protein, Vitamins, and scar cream. I'm changing up my protein next month to half vanilla and half chocolate so I can mix up the vanillas with some Torani, etc to have some different tastes to it. The scar cream is great...my hysterectomy scar even has been reduced and less red looking ... it's light and not greasy! Good luck There are recipes on this site, the Torani site and the World According to Eggface if you want inspiration -

your heart failure/condition may be enough of a pre-qualifier... check on the details with doctor and insurance... i agree -
Has anyone else ever had to pay 2 copays for their surgery?
BigGirlPanties replied to KeeWee's topic in Insurance & Financing
very common, there are facility (hospital) charges and doctor (provider) charges that are billable separately... but I agree, someone should have, at least, MENTIONED that co-pay before you got to this level I was lucky, my doctor let me pay after and as much as I could at a time Good luck! -
Weird Post Op Question
BigGirlPanties replied to AJ Barefield's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know RJ said she does it while in the shower...so that is what I plan on doing when I try it...but yeah, I have mints available 24/7 too! -
Is there a "Grocery Shopping List" for post-op recovery?
BigGirlPanties replied to tiredtwinmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depending on your level of pain, you should be able to function at home fairly well... ie bathroom, shower, making stuff for yourself... Have Protein, SF popsicles, anything you want to add to Water, the unjury broth was excellent for something hot... My doc gave us a "black book" of what to have and not have ... ask your doc if they have something like that... Don't forget to apply at InsureNutrition.com to see if you qualify for free protein, you don't have to wait until the surgery actually happens, as it does take a couple of weeks to process... good luck...nice to have "Mom" come in for a helpful visit... I miss mine so much, enjoy the time you have with her! -
Protein Shakes Problem! help!
BigGirlPanties replied to Erin414's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
by adding ice, you make it thicker and can probably use a spoon, you can probably use Torani sugar free syrups to make them more enjoyable as well...and don't forget about free (insurance covered) protein etc by filling out the form at InsureNutrition.com ... Good luck to you... you will find the right mix for yourself...just keep at it -
Surprised your Dr allowed the potatoes...total carb and no redeeming qualities... but anyway... hopefully you are weighing yourself only once a week, the first weeks after surgery it comes off slower, I think because of the stuff in your system, you should see a drop SOON good luck
-
i agree with all of the above...as for me, I have chosen NO ALCOHOL at all... wasn't much of a drinker beforehand, was usually the designated driver because of it ... I don't see any benefit in having "drinks", for me, it's wasted calories and carbs... but from what you have said, you need to seek some help before it gets out of control! Good luck to you!

BigGirlPanties replied to rayanne's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Congrats...I hope you make your goal... I need to set up one of those... I have RA, so I would have to walk it, but I'd be happy coming in last as long as I finished. My sister is a power walker, so she does "runs" but usually comes in last...but still does them ...
