Where can I find reliable stats?
BigGirlPanties replied to Loristi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At the first seminar I went to, they explained the 3 basic surgeries and the reasons why you may want to choose one over the other...for me, there was no doubt, right from the beginning, I wanted the sleeve! -

BigGirlPanties replied to Erin414's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

YEAH!!! Did you find out why you never got the call??? I'm glad everything worked out... remember sip, walk, repeat -

Weight Fluctuations Pre Op?
BigGirlPanties replied to Loristi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't really respond for your Insurance company...but I would think a "consistant" bmi would be what's important... you can call them and ask (or dr) good luck to you! -
Should not be your future (hopefully)...it's your "now"... I have that problem whenever I have peanut butter/almonds/nuts after 6-7pm... somewhere in the night or even while watching tv...I'll start coughing/choking ... so I avoid that...tho last night I really really CRAVED some PB...so I had a small spoonful and was ok ... but not going to make it a habit. Good luck to you...and take your Prilosec (leave a post it on your mirror if you have to!)
-
totally normal... the pain is probably gas...the dizziness could be dehydration so walk, sip, walk, sip, repeat...call your doctor before the weekend sets in just to let them know your concern... they may just tell you the same thing and wait a few days...but I'd at least, call them now before they close. Remember even tho you have just a few "owies" on the outside, you had a lot of work on the inside...it doesn't say which one you had...but I assume it's either sleeve or full gastric.... good luck, it will be ok...but make that call...that, alone, will help you feel better!

The only one that can determine that is YOU... you have to be mentally ready for this as well, your smaller stomach will help most of the time, but fried foods, sugary stuff, and carbs need to go bye-bye...

Stall is depressing me :-(
BigGirlPanties replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Mallori Baker no it's not...and put the scale AWAY...weigh in once a week (at most) right now or you will drive yourself crazy!!! -
Stall is depressing me :-(
BigGirlPanties replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Jlangen this is quite common in the beginning, your body is still adjusting...it will be okay... just be patient and it will happen! Follow the guidelines and you will be fine! HONEST @TheWigster I drink decaf unsweet tea 24/7 myself, so that's not it, it is an approved beverage...one of the few I can tolerate since the surgery (I was a diet coke-aholic...at least 2 liters a day-easy!) -
Perfectly content in my food rut
BigGirlPanties replied to ziggypbang's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah, i guess the harder part is the boredom of food for him... my husband is the same way... I can be in a food "rut" and be quite content, but he craves variety -
Congrats and good luck!

Gas pains are very common, especially in the beginning as they had to blow up your abdomen to work... they say the best thing is to walk it off... if it contines later, you may want to see if the dr will let you use gas-x etc... but this is very normal, and uncomfortable; but will pass. Good luck and congrats

Stall is depressing me :-(
BigGirlPanties replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I would say 3 things: 1. very common...and then "suddenly" PLOP a good loss 2. LOSE THE scale...at least for now...weigh yourself once a week 3. Measure yourself...you should feel/see a change in the way things are fitting etc. You've got this...stay the course and you will be fine! -
So frustrated!
BigGirlPanties replied to countrygrl1978's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So surprised the doctor isn't on this for you...that's disappointing...so stay on THEM... call and "bother" them...this is their job !!! Good luck to you! -
Anyones Taste Buds Change After Being Sleeved?
BigGirlPanties replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not alone.... I can't do pork...and many sweeter drinks...I didn't like lemonade before, and now I do... we all have versions of this... Good luck -
Mini non scale victories :)
BigGirlPanties replied to Ndipilato's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Remember these when the scale is not moving...the NSVs are very important!!! Speaking of shoes, my sandals are Birkies because I need the support, fortunately most of them have a buckle on them so I am able to tighten them up... I have to wear my wedding rings on my middle finger now... silly little things that make us smile... When I'm typing, I can look down at my hand and be reminded of what that middle finger ring thing really means -
3 Days post op feeling shaky and weak
BigGirlPanties replied to Laurensloss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
agree with all of the above I think most of us forget that it is MAJOR surgery that we just undertook, because all we have is a few little scars on our tummies.... your insides are healing... rest, sip, walk, repeat... you need to give yourself time... you've got this...congrats! -
hopefully some antibotic cream (or something of that nature) will take care of it... glad you are seeing the dr about it to cease your worries!

My doc/hospital has a monthly meeting, but it's HUGE and the people ask the same questions over and over... however I found an addiction therapist that has a monthly meeting... about 12 of us, she has one of us conduct the meeting each month and pick a topic... she will print up anything we want to share... and we share recipes, sites, etc... sometimes it can get out of hand, but it reminds me of the dining room table with my sisters (I have 5)... so I can tolerate it pretty well as it usually gets under control quickly. But YES...there are meetings, ask your doctor if they conduct them or if they have a list of places to go... it helps keep me in check...even tho I haven't lost lately, I have "maintained" well -LOL...so that's a BIG plus... She has a "success habits" workshop that there is a fee for that I think I will join for more one-on -one help to get me "back on track" Good luck to y'all!

I have to learn to use my phone for stuff like this...but silly me, I just use it for texting and phone calls... LOL ... I guess because the screen is so small and I can barely see, I get frustrated with it easily... so basically, I am of no help either...good luck

There should be a "Funny of the Day" section to post things like that... we all need a good giggle!

@LookatmeNow34 Everyone is different on recovery...but I'd say a month is probably a good "average" on when you really start to feel normal again...no nausea, able to eat/drink, etc... if you have things planned, it's probably best to give yourself a good buffer. After about a week or so, I felt "normal", but I had a dehydration problem...so to the doctors I went for a "fill up" via iv fluids and didn't have another problem, except a bit of nausea that I thought would NEVER end...

In need of scrubs!
BigGirlPanties replied to ghohmann83's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am a huge advocate of Goodwill... I have been able to find wonderful items now that I'm a smaller size, and my Goodwills have TONS of scrubs...tops and bottoms... take a look, you may be surprised...we are talking, probably less than $8-10 for a full set!!! Good luck on your treasure hunt... I found some great dresses for our cruise because I refused to pay full price for something I will rarely wear...and because of my new size, I found 3 wonderfully perfect dresses...
