OMG! I HAVE SO SCREWED UP!

Ok, take it or leave it, no judgement.... I would personally revise e-mail to include the following: I would let him know that although you are a very close office, he made you very nervous with all the questions. Let him know you panicked & that you are having surgery, possibly to include having your gallbladder out. You would like to keep the surgery personal, not to hurt anyone's feelings but that it is something you would like to keep personal. That you spoke to HR because you don't want to put him in an awkward position that IF the information was told to a family member & it was to spread throughout the office it would be against company rules. Let him know when you are ready for everyone to know, you will tell them. Then leave it at that (other than giving him the dates you will be out). That's my advice, only because I was in the same predicament as you & after it was all over, the truth had to come out anyway & then they wanted to know why I lied about it. It became major drama that I didn't need but now they know what I had done, which I wanted to keep personal.

    Vsg With Bmi Under 35

Happydaisy-no regrets, BMI now 23 & only regret wish I would have done it 10 years ago
  9. So, I am 10 weeks post op & when I went in for recent checkup they drew labs. Apparently, my potassium is low, as well as my Iron. I had to see a hematologist who has now put me on a liquid potassium & I have to have a series of iron infusions done. In between everything, I have to have labs drawn to keep track of my levels. Has anyone else had these issues & is this a long term problem?
  10. Unfortunately, my iron infusions have been canceled, as my insurance co will not pay for them. Since they are $1800/per treatment, that won't be happening any time soon.

VSG for Lower BMI - HELP!

Politisa- I had a BMI of 32 but had comorbidities, therefore, for me, I have never been happier with the WLS. I am only 3 mos out but have lost a total of 42 lbs. My high blood pressure-gone, sleep apnea- gone, high liver enzyme levels- gone....you can see where I'm going with this. Anyway, I feel great & do want to say, I did a lot if research before I decided to do the WLS. With a VSG there is no turning back. Once they remove 80% of your stomach, it's not like they can put it back. We will all be here for your to answer as many questions as we can. Consult your Dr & ask him any medical concerns you may have. I have no regrets and have had a relatively easy recovery. My Dr released me to eat anything I wanted at 6 weeks but in moderation. I don't exercise like I should but am losing weight. I would probably lose more if I upped my exercise routine. Well, best of luck to you. I know u didn't answer all your questions but I hope this helps you some.

    I Miss Salads

Mmm, I miss salad. My Dr says 4 mos out so I'm going to wait. I was at Applebee's the other night & was going to try soup & salad but went with just the soup.

    YUM! Thanks for the recipe!
  17. OMG!!! You look GREAT!!! Congrats on your amazing journey & keep up the good work!
  18. WOW!!! You look AMAZING!!! Dr Almanza also did my surgery & I've never been happier! Keep up the great work!
  19. Ok, here goes & I'm a very open, honest person.... Pre op diet I was on (liquids) & post-op diet I was on (liquids 1st week), pretty much sucked, weeks 2-4 soft, mushy foods wasn't too bad but took some getting used to (i have an issue with textures). Then, once I reached 6 weeks, I was cleared for foods & alcohol (but in moderation) it was GREAT! I am now 3 mos out, 41 lbs lighter & life is good. I feel awesome & have not been happier with my WLS decision. We all go thru different emotions approaching our surgery date but I'm sure you will be happy with your decision as well. Best wishes for a happier, healthier future!!!!

Stay strong...I think temptation is almost worse than the hunger! You can do this, it's well worth it (speaking from someone whose been in your shoes & is now on the other side of the fence.)

    Distant Husband

Jessielynn- yes, I have experienced the same circstances. I am now almost 3 mos post-op. My husband & i have been together for 13 years now. Right after surgery I was a bit of a b@$#h because he would eat whatever he would want in front of me & I was still adjusting to my sleeve & felt he wasn't being supportive. He would say things like...when you get skinny, you'll leave me & get a boyfriend. We finally had to have a sit down, heart to heart talk. I explained that I didn't have the surgery so I could get skinny & leave him but that I had the surgery so I could live a happier, healthier life to give us more time together. Well, since our talk, he has become more supportive & now that I've lost 41 pounds, he is always complementing me on how great I look & how skinny I'm getting. He's even been on board with the healthier eating.... My suggestion, have a heart to heart talk with him. Ask him to express his concerns & be open with your feelings also. Best of luck to you & I hope everything works itself out

Jac1970, good that you have each other to keep on track. I know how you feel, the donuts, pizza, etc, that my co workers bring in is absolute torture!!! Keep on track, the two of you will do great! Best wishes for a happier, healthier future!
  23. Ssriley, that's awesome! Feels great to not have to wear the CPAP anymore, doesn't it!?!

    Vsg With Bmi Under 35

I'm 47 yrs old, my BMI was 32 at the time of surgery. I weighed 177 at the time of my surgery (9/4/12) & now weigh 136, total weight loss of 41 pounds. I now have a healthy BMI of 23 & feel better than I have in over 10 years. I once was a yo-yo dieter & that wasn't working for me. My Dr tells me that my body will eventually plateau at it's desired weight & then I will have to maintain. Basically, he told me I can eat what, in moderation & I don't exercise like I should. I am averaging a weight loss now of about 1-2 pounds a week. Best of luck to you & if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
