    Going to Mexico alone

I went to TJ alone & had no problems or worries. I was actually taken wetter care of there than some of the hospitals I've been to in the US. Everyone was very informative & hospital & recovery center were very clean. The Dr's, Nurses & staff were great!!! Best experience I've had where surgery was involved.
  3. I will be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers

  6. Bornagainbabe, Nikki & everyone else out there whose having problems with weight gain- I want to express my sincere "thanks & gratitude" for sharing your stories. So often we hear about the success stories & no one is brave enough to talk about their struggles. I knew that this wouldn't be an easy journey. I appreciate you stepping forward & take comfort in knowing there are people to share my strengths & weaknesses with. Although I am only 4 mos out, I have had my fair share of ups & downs. This concerns me that the road ahead is going to be a bumpy one, one i have traveled many times. Many do not know this but I'm ready to share, in hopes this may help someone else. I am a bulimic, once getting down to 102 lbs. I went to therapy for years.. Ive got a grip on my disease, at the moment. I later found out it caused a condition known as gastroperesis (stomach paralysis). I eventually gained weight over the years but it's so easy to let food have a powerful hold on me & my weight climbed up to 180. Due to comorbidities & the gastroperesis I had VSG. I am currently off most meds, know what I need to do, but still struggle daily with a never ending battle within myself. You can overcome your inner demons by taking one step at a time. I wish each & every one of you the best of luck in your journey & take comfort in knowing we are here for each other.
  7. I had a hiatal hernia & gastroperesis (paralyzed stomach) but no mass. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers. Keep us updated!

    HUNGER

Noorganicforme- you are correct, the area of the stomach, containing the ghrelin, is removed. It's a different kind of hunger now. I am 4 mos post-op & my body tells me when I need to eat, but it's very different than before. Best of luck to you
  9. I'm 5'4, SD 9/4/12, CW 127, my personal goal 117-120
  10. Haven't heard of that but that could be my issue...5'4" , lost 51lbs, 4 mos out

    Miss soda?

I'm 4 mos out & can now tolerate the carbonation. I treat myself to a diet Pepsi every now & then but don't crave it like I used to.

    Total success!

All I can say is A-MAZ-iNG!!!! Great Job
  13. Ok, everyone, I'm hoping this cheers you up a bit, here is how I feel.....we all are going to lose at our own rate. I've been sleeved for 4 months & am down 51 lbs. YES!!! That's 51 pounds in 4 MONTHS!!! I would never have been able to lose that by just dieting! My point, try to think on the bright side, you're losing I've hit slumps, stalls, not exercised like I should, haven't watched what I eat close enough. Could I have lost more by now, maybe, but I'm doing what I can do, day by day. You're going to have good days & bad, hopefully more good ones. I wish all of you the best of luck & keep up the GREAT WORK!!! Remember, this a journey you will travel the rest of your life....keep smiling

    Surgery in Mexico?

I also went to Mexico & it was a wonderful experience. I was also picked up at airport, taken to hospital, then taken to recovery center, did some shopping & then was taken back to airport. The whole experience was wonderful. Everything was cleaner than the hospitals here & the Doctors, Nurses & staff were AWESOME!!! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in going to Mexico for the surgery. I follow up with my family physician & have had no problems whatsoever.

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...

Ok, insecurebuthopeful- I also was a low BMI (32), my weight was 177. I did have comorbidities: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre diabetes, etc. as you, I tried dieting, weight loss pills, exercising & would lose weight & gain it back....over & over again. I chose to have WLS to give me a happier, healthier life & to ribose me with a tool that I could use for a lifetime. I am now 3 mos post op, down 45 pounds, 3 pant sizes, 2 shirt sizes & I feel better than I have in years. So, to those that chose to pass judgement, until you've walked into others shoes, we all wish to be healthier & happier. Best of luck to you & I've got your back
  21. Marinamouse- thank you Bos123- yep, 3 mos....no secret really; if there was I'd share it

And, finally, how soon I would feel like a new person....co morbidities gone!!!
