I'm not here to judge, or to convince you to have, or not have the surgery. However, I would like to say...please know that we all have to decide for ourselves whether or not you are ready for this life long commitment. Yes, there are success stories & there are the horror stories. I went into this knowing full well that I could end up in the 8% of those of who have it all go wrong. Luckily I ended up in the 92% success ratio. Terrified?! I sure was but I'm glad I went through with it. There will be struggles here & there on the days ahead. I'm willing to accept that & deal with what's ahead. Good luck to those of you who have yet to make the commitment. Know that those of us who went through with the surgery are here for you. Best of luck to all

High Protein "snack" Ideas.... Lets Start A List To Refer To When We Need Ideas

Thanks for sharing that website -
Everyone is different...my Dr also said I can have anything I want, just in moderation & what my tummy will tolerate. "Don't deny yourself" is what he said... So far, it has worked!!! I have had a bite or three of everything I used to like, except red meat (didn't really agree with me before.

Although my surgery date was 9/4, I believe at this point my pre-op diet says I can return to a normal diet. The Dr told me to eat whatever I can tolerate but in moderation. I have been able to eat just about anything but can only eat about 7-8 bites & I'm full. Everyone's diet seems to vary but I think it's more about the amount you eat & what you can tolerate more than anything else.

Anyone Not Tell Family Or Friends?
takroom replied to max206's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't tell my family & friends til after the fact. I had made up my mind about surgery & didn't want any negative feedback or anyone trying to talk me out of it. I needed to stay focused & positive. I sat everyone down & told them when I got back. Everyone had a lot of questions but have been very supportive in my new journey. -

Newgrandmother, you are not alone. Sounds like you've got a UTI. I had one from the antibiotics & had to get a prescription to get rid of mine. Also, drink lots of water, it will help & no sex for about a week. -

Any September 4Th Sleevers?
takroom replied to takroom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I'm on fitness pal...I just started logging today. I will say, the scale hasn't moved in a week, but I have dropped 2 pant sizes since surgery. I must be losing inches & not weight. Trying hard to only weigh myself once a week. I'm no longer eating puréed foods. My stomach has tolerated chicken, fish, turkey, fat free cheeses, garden burgers, etc. -

Great Job newgrandmother!!!!! Chicken & waffles sound mighty tempting. I don't know if I have that kind of will power yet. I'm finding it difficult to meet my friends out to eat. Went last night to dinner with friends. They shared a giant marguarita & plenty of good food. I had an iced tea & a chicken teriyaki skewer. I'm trying to stay strong & stay focused but that was hard. Sounds like you are doing great, which I'm so happy for you Have you heard from toyaboo?? -
I went Dr Almanza, Jerusalem Hospital, Tijuana, MX. Out of pocket, $4500, everyone was AWESOME!! Couldn't have asked for a better experience. I felt totally safe & at ease. They were very formative & I the care I received was great.

Momto3girls-you are suffering from acid reflux. The nausea & pain are associated with the reflux, this will also cause vomiting. Reason I know this, I have had GERD over 10 years. Do as the Dr has uninstructed you & double the dose, it won't hurt you. If this doesn't help, call & ask for a prescription. -

Momothing- Congrats on the 18 lbs. I a little over 3 weeks!!!! Wanting a steak sounds like head hunger, I've been craving pizza...UGH!!!! The head hunger is horrible. Don't freak out about your mom coming to visit. I think everyone my mom runs in to knows my life history (lol). She's a bit of a control FREAK, but after 47 years, I've learned to accept her for who she is. My choice was to be upfront & honest about what I had done (obviously after the fact). I mean, what was she going to do after it was done & over?! She was totally freaked out at first but has been very supportive. Believe me, if I hadn't just come out & told her, she would've found out & then been more upset I didn't tell her. Stay focused, stay string & reach for your goal...sounds like you're already on your way -
I did a lot of research before I made my decision. Since my insurance denied my WLS, I had to search for an alternative, less expensive route. (U.S. cost $25000.00) I found Dr. Almanza, from Jerusalem Hospital, in Tijuana MX. I watched several You Tube videos, testimonials, etc. my out of pocket cost was $4500.00. Not once from the time they picked me up to the time they took me back did I feel I was in danger. It was overall an AWESOME experience. The people were friendly, informative & helpful. I hope this helps
