  1. Thanks for everyone's wonderful comments! Feels great changing my life! Um for tips I would say the biggest thing is following what your surgeon says to the T. I made sure (and still do) that I get all my Protein and Water in daily. I don't eat hardly any carbs and I make sure to exercise few days a week at least. I think sometimes we worry about over eating due to old habit and then don't get enough calories.... IMO I think it slows WL down. Over all have fun doing it. This is our new "normal" so go with it and begin enjoying life!
  2. Close to 7 months out 109 down since surgery!
  3. I love my in laws but at this point have noooo intention of telling them. My MIL and I have. Have different view points and when she disagrees can sometimes go to extremes. She once hid all the car keys to all their cars so my husband who was my Boyfriend at the time couldn't go get vaccinated for school because she doesn't believe in them. (it was required cuz he was studying to be a nurse) I have only told those who I want to have know at this point! Sent from my iPhone using VST

  6. I weigh 317. Don't have a date yet but I have to loose 10%. I have kaiser so I'm hoping to loose it during the 12 week classes we have to take... I've already changed to a structured shake/food plan... Sent from my iPhone using VST
  7. Good luck with all the post op!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  8. Again today I'm reminded yet again one of the many reasons I want to have VSG. I went today to get my hair cut... I start my 12 week pre-op this upcoming Thursday and want an all body/mind approach to change in my life. So with that thought I wanted to get my hair done and restart doing it everyday instead of putting it up as I have been. I want to start doing my make up every morning and change other things as well.... Soooo.... The little jacket robe thing they put on me had to be squeezed over my arms the chair had to be pumped a million time to get me to the desired height for cutting my hair and chair was far from comfortable.... But on the bright side I wa glad knowing soon these things would change... And I can't wait. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  9. I looooove my mother in law. Buuuut I have had some serious anxiety over telling her. Initially I didn't want to tell her at all but she would be so hurt if I didn't and she later found out. She is extremely holistic. And never had weight issues. She is very thin and would never be able to come close to understanding what it's like to be over weight enough to qualify on bmi alone for sugary. I don't know how to handle this. I know 100% she would not want me to to this. But as I sat across from her talking about life today I felt guilty not telling her... Ah geez. I hope I get the guts to tell and that even though she disagrees is gracious enough to let it be. I know it's because she care. She really does... I'm just so nervous. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  10. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I'm still a ways from surgery but I'm making progress! Got my 12 week options lass scheduled with kiaser as well as my clearance appt with the program doctors. After the classes I should get the referral to the surgeon. Some times I question if I'm doing the right thing but I just remind myself what brought me this decision in the first place and I feel calm about it again.... Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. They ask you to remove the nail polish because they put a pulse ox on your finger. It keeps track of the oxygen levels. Nail polish can make it unable to read those levels. My husband is a nurse and has had issues with nail polish on nails and other times the polish doesn't interfere. If it does become a problem they will just take it off. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. Welcome!! Things were not easy initially with my family but they have come around. But it's still not the same as talking to people going through or have gone through this process. Everyone on here is super nice and non judgemental!!! Again welcome and lots of luck to you! Keep us updated!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  13. This is the funniest thing I have read on here!! I'm pre op and will be so scared every time I feel a fart coming once I'm post op. ah geez! Thanks for the openness about this it was really too funny! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  14. Its probably a good thing none of you are Doing lap band my MD gave some scary stats on it. Almost all countries who do the lap band are at 90% removal rate and the band often slips or gets eroded into the stomach. It's also has the lowest weight loss stats and highest regain stats... UCLA who is the national bariatric center will no longer do them at all! Good luck with the sleeve!! I have kaiser and my process is just begining... But I'm excited for the process!
  15. I know for sure I don't want the GBP I have looked into all this even before talking to my PCP and I don't think anything would change my mind. Wow so surgery 2 months after the last class! When did you have it done? I have looked into Dr Leports and have two co workers that went through that office but they don't have kaiser. That has put me at ease some about the actual procedure.
  16. No we were not given an option. We had the orientation and then filled out a questionaire and they said they would call us nex week to start the 12 week classes...
  17. That is very cool! We will have to stay in contact! Will love to hear how u do. Kaiser is so different from other insurances. But I think it's a great process to hopefully provide a better outcome and less regain in the future. Are you in OC too?? Do u know when u do the 12 weeks??
  18. As very informative showed lots of statistics and layer out all the negative and not in a bad way. They wanted us as I informed as possible. We all hear and see all the success stories but it's good to know stats on regain to put your mind in the right place. I am I expect a call next week to start the 12 week pre op program. Very excited. They said to expect to have surgery scheduled a week or two after the classes should we choose to????
