    Doing Research

i'm not sleeved YET, but, with the sleeve there's no restrictions on what you CAN eat... you just have to chew it really well before you swallow it would be a while before you could have whatever, because your stomach needs time to heal and at first it's hard to eat or drink stuff.. but about a year out from surgery, there's people that eat noodles and bread and popcorn & stuff like that. they can also have beer later on... so there's really no "restriction" on food, just a restriction on when you're able to tolerate it and how much of it you can eat. of course there are better options than that stuff, but i just wanted to point out that it's not completely off the table forever. some people develop lactose intolerance.. so no dairy products.. or limited dairy.. some people get acid reflux.. but you can take stuff to help with that. the part of your stomach that is removed is the part that produces the hormone for hunger.. so a plus is that you won't be hungry (except in your head)... and your stomach will permanently be reduced in size. a gastric bypass (RNY) is where they mess with your intestines & make your tummy a pouch. but people gain their weight back.. because they still have that hungry feeling.. you don't have that with the sleeve.. i've only heard a couple instances where people regained SOME of their weight with the sleeve.. the sleeve seems to have more long term success than the lap band or an RNY. the sleeve is safer than a full on duodenal switch, because it doesn't have the malabsorbtion thing going on (where they mess with your intestines).. same thing with the gastric bypass.. to me that's really scary stuff.. and they have dumping syndrome & some can't process food anymore, so they starve to death. with the lap band, over 80% of people have to have them removed within 5 years of getting them. it also can cause scarring of your tummy and the band can even grow into your body.. you don't have to worry about any of that with the sleeve.. they remove part of your tummy & then that's it. in regards to risks.. you can have a leak.. but that's really rare.. and the rest is pretty much the same.. anesthesia related stuff.. like blood clots and death. you just need to make sure you get a good surgeon with lots of experience.. and since you're paying for it yourself, look at every state and country, because you have that option! wish you the best, whatever you decide to do!
  11. lay down the law with your mom & make your kid do as she is told. watching episodes of super nanny might help you.. but i agree 100% with prettysleeved1.. you're the parent, you have to be in control and you have to be consistent. if your mom is making the situation worse, you should find someone that will discipline your daughter the way you want them to. i'd also have a talk with your mom & tell her what's going on & how she's not helping, but just making your life harder & more miserable by doing what she's doing with your daughter. i wish you the best of luck, though. and don't give up. you need to get healthy & that will make you feel better about yourself & trickle down into everything you do & are a part of.

    Whats On Your Bucket List?

wow, everybody has some really great things they want to accomplish! this is an amazing thread! there's so much i want to do!!! when i lose my weight, i want to.... head to japan, to a host club, so i can get doted on hand and foot and pampered by a myriad of (what i consider to be) attractive young men. i've never really had a chance to date much or experience what it feels like to have guys like me, so i want to experience that even if i have to pay for it. lol not sex or anything like that, just the experience of having guys vie for my attention. sorta make up for all the years of having nothing going on.. i also want to visit some onsens in japan (japanese hot springs).. and i'm with Cookeeeeez.. hiking up to the top of mt fuji sounds like an awesome idea, too! i want to go back to korea & visit my friends there. i want to be able to go kayaking with killer whales, swim with sharks and hitch a ride on a dolphin. learn how to dance (ballroom/latin/etc).. return to school & become a doctor, like i've always wanted to do, but been too ashamed because of my weight to accomplish. go sky diving, like my dad used to (he's an 82nd airborne paratrooper).. maybe even go sky diving WITH my dad! whee! get back into horseback riding.. i was DARN good at it. my instructor said i was one of the best she'd ever seen... and i lost it, because i became a horse, instead of riding one... so... i wanna get back into it desperately! get back into bodybuilding. maybe not competitively, like i originally trained for.. but women with muscles are awesome & i want mine back. i feel so weak & disgusting. :/ get back into MMA & other martial arts.. take up Parkour (freestyle running) and gymnastics. see the world with my best friend be able to go to europe & fit IN, not stick out like a sore thumb, because i'm the size of a car. :/ be able to actually buy clothes in japan and korea when i visit... korea has some of the most well made bras i've ever seen.. i want korean underwear for myself! i know it sounds silly, but it'd mean a lot to me! also, japan has a waist line limit, so being able to fit into japanese clothes... AWESOME!!!! total self esteem booster! lol to be able to wear a seatbelt in the smaller planes WITHOUT an extension... heck, i probably need an extension for the big ones as huge as i am right now... so yeah.. to be able to fly, without worry of needing an extension on a plane... to be able to walk around like a normal human being, without feeling like i'm gonna die because of the pain and because it wears me out & i can't breathe. :/ to actually be able to get involved in my community & volunteer to do things.. like habitat for humanity or walking for breast cancer or protesting animal abuse or WHATEVER... i wanna make a difference & DO something, instead of having to sit on my fat behind & watch life pass me by while i post things on facebook!

from: http://www.skinacea.com/how-to/dry-skin-brush.html To dry skin brush, all you need is a natural bristle bath brush (synthetic fibers can cause small scratches on the surface of your skin). Most brushes come in either short or long handles. I prefer the long-handled brushes with a detachable head. The detachable brushes are more ergonomic for brushing your limbs, but the long handles make it easier to brush the back, buttocks, and other hard to reach places. There are some brushes labeled as "detox" brushes, but don't be fooled. These can cost upwards of $20, but all you need is a simple $4 brush. Natural bristle brushes usually lose their stiffness after a few months of use and must be replaced. Whatever kind of brush you get, you just have to make sure the brush has stiff, yet flexible bristles. You don't want a brush that's very soft, otherwise you would get zero exfoliating effects. You don't want the bristles to be too stiff either, but it's better to err on the side of being too stiff because the bristles will soften with use. Before you buy a brush, tug on the bristles a bit to see if they come out easily. If they do, find yourself a better quality brush. If you don't buy a brush with sturdily rooted bristles, the hairs will fall out during dry brushing sessions, rendering the brush less effective. in regards to where to buy one.. you can buy them online, at places like whole foods or other "health" stores.. you *CAN* use synthetic ones from walmart or whatever.. i've also seen natural bristle ones at walmart & at the mall & places like bath & body works.
  14. i've been reading different forums about WLS.. a lot of people talk about how they think that VSG is good, but if you are older or are used to eating a certain way, then you should go ahead & do a duodenal switch or have a RNY... for the malabsorbtion thing it gives you... any idea why these people feel that JUST having VSG is not enough?... is there a lower success ratio or something if you just have VSG vs if you do a full duodenal switch or RNY.. and what's age got to do with anything?... me, personally, i feel that if i can't eat as much as i'm used to eating or want to eat.. then that fixes my problem.. i'll drop my weight & won't have to have my intestines messed with... i've also never heard of someone whose had VSG that has relapsed & gained ALL of their weight back. i think that for a lot of people, having the limited stomach capacity & eliminating the hunger (physical) solves a lot of the problems.. we want to turn to food, but can't.. you can graze all day long (which i understand you shouldn't), but it'll take a long time to catch up with you if you do that.... but i have seen people who've had RNY relapse & regain all their weight.. i've seen people who lose all their weight with diet & exercise relapse & gain it all back & usually MORE.. perfect example would be that 650lb virgin guy that Chris Powell trained.. and they made "reshape the nation" together & etc., that guy is back up to 500lb.. if he had been sleeved, there's no way he would be 500lb! his stomach wouldn't have the capacity to allow him to regain that weight. he'd have had to force himself to deal with his emotional issues. what are your guys' thoughts on the topic?

exercise routine for women: http://www.t-nation....e.do?id=1305014 moisturize your skin - obviously a necessity eat foods high in collagen, like blueberries. collagen is what gives skin it's elasticity, so that's important. berries are usually pretty low in sugar & carbs. there's other stuff with collagen, you'll just have to do a bit of research & see what works for you. take MSM.. it's a natural sulfur compound that does not smell (different kind of sulfur) & it's derived from rain Water. MSM lubricates your joints, as well as makes your skin supple & soft. a lot of people with huge amounts of weight lost (100+ lb) have used MSM & had great success getting their skin to shrink. skin brush.. it removes dead skin cells & promotes growth of new skin. take a multi-Vitamin & anything with vitamin E in it is always good. hope that helped.

    Nutella

hey, there's Fiber in it, too! another nutritional benefit!.. never you mind the sugar & carbs. those don't exist *puts blinders on*.. LOL gawd.. now i want nutella...

    Nutella

i am not sleeved, yet, but i would say that out of all the "bad" things that you could eat, at least nutella has some nutritional value.. so you could feel less guilty about eating it. i'm not sure what the Protein in it is, but at least it has some.. unlike cake.. or pie.. or a snicker's bar... or something like that. lol it would be awesome if it were a protein source.. LOL i'd be like living in the factory.. lol
  18. Does your stomach ever fully heal? Or are you indefinitely at risk of leakage & have to go get checked every so often? er how's that work?...

    Bummed :(

hope your daughter gets better ASAP!!! sorry you had to miss your seminar, though.. but babies first!!
  22. that is awesome! lol i use 2 memory foam pillows, 2 regular pillows & another one that i rest on my arm & then lay my head on top of it.. i can't sleep on my back (can't breathe), i have to sit up and/or be on my side.. so.. usually sleep in a recliner or on the sofa, propped up against the arm. :/ i just bought a new memory foam mattress, too.. and can't even use it, because i can't lay down flat. it sucks. :/ so IMO, using less pillows is AMAZING! lol you go girl! <3
  23. congrats to you! that's amazing! i'm very happy for you!

    Excess Skin

you can take MSM- it's a product of rain Water.. it lubricates joints & causes skin to become soft & supple. skin brush - helps stimulate new skin growth & remove dead skin cells. also helps improve circulation, which helps with healing & getting oxygen everywhere. eat things naturally high in collagen, like blueberries.. blueberries are low carb & high in collagen. collagen is what gives skin it's elasticity. just to clarify, i meant eat blueberries themselves, not blueberry flavored things.. not that you'd think that, but you'd be surprised. lol exercise & build muscles, so there's less skin hanging off of you. you fill in more space, but in a healthier way. here's a nice workout routine to get a body like what most women want: http://www.t-nation....e.do?id=1305014 just skip to the bottom, if you don't want to read all the technical stuff. it tells you what to do, how long to do it & how many days a week to do it. good luck to you.
