  1. Attention all north shore sleevers,

I would like to start and support group that gets together and not only meets , but has some planned activities, who's interested ? Message me with your info or if your profile has email address just respond and I will send group email out, the support group I go to only meets once a month and of I'm working nights I miss it for that month. This forum has been great help for me and all you new and soon to be will really benefit from those that have walked in your shoes!

  2. Well if they don't want too, we can start our own ! I'm game! The surgery has helped me and people here have encouraged and helped keep me on straight and narrow! The shrink was GAyle something , she was in Metairie off ridge lake ! Kind of scary lady , I had to do a 500 question test on if I loved babies and butterflies crap! But she gave me clearence , all that matters. Good luck, where are you doing surgery?

  3. the longer the pre op diet , the better. Some insurance company's require certain guidelines and you have to lose a certain weight pre op ! Dr Lavin told me " Pre op diet is important, shrinking the size of your Fatty liver , will make surgery go easier and faster recovery. Dont cheat and really concentrate with in the last two weeks before surgery"...... hope this helps

to be quite honest the pre op time and diet was worst for me because i didnt feel full, after surgery, physically feel full all time, just had to deal with head hunger! and that goes away with time.

before surgery if you cheat or eat to much, you just get mad at your self, no physical effects. After, big difference, you overeat or wrong food, You will only do that one time! NOT FUN! I read so many horror stories, i was scared to stay on the straight and narrow!!!!!!

  4. I have two young children and hubby. He is so supportive and says he will support me whatever I decide, I'm just frightened of that 1-2% that I will be the one with major problems, but then again having this extra weight is causing me more problems that will only get worse if I don't do something about it.

You CANT LIVE LIFE WORRYING ABOUT BEING THE 1-2 % & Bad things that could go wrong . If you have a Great surgeon and a Great proven nutrition plan, and follow it to T, I believe your chances of problems will be slim to none! Alot of problems with this type of surgery are "self inflicted" We take chances everyday ! IF ANYBODY has EATING disorders most of their life, to me it was a NO BRAINER! Be thankful that you have a supporting husband , which will make it much easier! Take a long hard look at your children and things that you can do for and with them if you are healthier, be a good example for them and maybe they will learn from you and you will maybe prevent them future struggles! I SUGGEST YOU DO IT AND DONT LOOK BACK! IM SOOOOOO GLAD I DID!

  5. Every bodies pain is different, and some have nausea and some don't. Part of my process was to have a shrink dr interview and make sure you are mentally capable of handling surgery. What is your main reason for wls? What is your BMI? How is your overall health? It is my experience that some people don't follow the post diet , because they don't have will power and sabotage themselves , over eating and not giving your body time to heal will cause problems . I was back at work in 6 days , just no heavy lifting! Hardest thing for me was dealing with head hunger not physical hunger. But those cravings pass with time . The first couple of weeks after surgery was hardest for me, but it's getting better and easier each day!

Make a list of things you can do if you lose weight, you will be surprised how bad you want to have it done!

  6. As anyone been bothered with food getting stuck in the lower esophagus? Mine does and sometimes i end up getting sick because of it. Most of the time i just wait it out. But it makes eating so undesirable that i could just go without. I hate that part.

Do you weight your food , before you eat?if so how much? How far along are you? Post surgery? Chew , chew, chew, chew to consistence of applesauce before swallowing!
