How much do you save on food?

My husband and I actually share a meal when we go out now, or I bring the rest home and have it for one or two more meals. Like Butterthebean said, it is more expensive to eat healthy! Not fair at all. BUT SO WORTH IT!

    hello

So you are about to change your life!!! Congrats!!! You will be meeting your goal before you know it! I wouldnt bring a bunch of stuff to the hospital but a few things that I found helpful was Biotene Dry mouth spray (for when you cant drink yet) it helps a LOT! Also some gas X strips are a great thing to have! Hope to hear great things in your future!

    5 weeks today

I dont think that your sleeve has stretched. I went through times like that where I just couldnt eat much (or drink much) Sometimes I just got tired of eating. Just do your best and focus on protein, Hydration and dont stress. It should all be fine. Just give yourself time. As your tummy heals and as you start to eat more solid foods, you will really feel alot of restriction and so just concentrate on eating small small bites and chew them really good and then eat slow slow!!! My nutritionist said that it is kind of like a tetris game in my tummy now. I have to try to fill up every space with what my body needs and in order to do this, I need to eat slowly and chew thoroughly. No worries, you just keep doing what you should be doing!
  6. It will get easier. This is one of the hardest parts! Just keep your eye on the prize! It will come!!! You can do this and be successful! Just try to take your mind off of it if you can by doing something else (easier said than done I know!) But you are capable and it will pay off!!!! Sending you good thoughts for a successful journey!

    Insulin resistant

If you have the surgery, there is no way that you wont lose weight. Wednesday will be my 1 year anniversary and I have lost all my extra weight, over a hundred pounds, I am at my goal weight (actually under), my BMI is in the normal category (After years and years of being obese) and most of my medical issues are either under control or totally gone (although I am still considered insulin resistant and have to take meds) Just do what your doctor and nutritionist tells you to do (dont cheat!!!!) and then get moving as soon as you can! Exercise! Start off slow and work your way up! You will surprise yourself what you can do! This morning I just finished my 5th 5K within a 2 week period of time! Before I couldnt jog for more than 15 seconds! Put your mind to doing well and dont give up on yourself! Set goals, small goals and do your best to meet those goals! You can do this!

    just need to vent

You are getting so close to your goal! Dont get discouraged! I know that the extra skin is a problem, just work on getting to your goal and then work on toning and maybe even plastics once you know how your body responds to the last 25 pounds of weight. I can promise that you look better than you think you do!!! You have done an amazing job! It is good to be able to vent to those who do understand! Been there, done that!!! Have a good day and get back to happy thoughts about your new journey!

    Couch to 5K

I finished my 9 weeks last week, I have since run 4, 5K's. Keep it up!!! It helps to shed those pounds and just you making the goals alone does more for you than actually running does. It is amazing at how you start out at 1 minute and can barely run it and then fast forward a few weeks and see how far you have come. I cant express enough how good this program was for me. It is hard at times but so worth it! Get a buddy to run along with you if you can, it helped me during those times that were difficult and would have been easy to give up. Proud of you!
  10. I have 4 pounds until Maintenance and was thinking about the same thing. Thanks for posting and letting me know that I am not alone. Congratulations by the way, this is a big day! Today I hit the 100 pound weight loss goal and I guess I expected confetti and balloons to fall all around me haha but guess I will just have to be happy in the knowledge that I am almost there and then like you said "now what??" Weird feeling!

    Skinnytaste.com

I love the recipes from there. It has not only helped me during my post op weight loss but my husband who has lost 40 pounds (without the surgery) because of our changes in diet and exercise. I agree to look for the recipes with more protein. Every recipe I have tried has been excellent!

    medical clearance?

I am not exactly sure what yours meant but I had to go see a dr who cleared me for surgery. He checked to make sure my heart could take it etc he did and EKG and checked some other things, it isnt a big deal. They had to do the same thing before I had my gall bladder surgery, so I think it is just a normal thing before any surgery. (I could be wrong though) Good luck to you!
  13. You are fortunate that you have thick hair to start off with. Mine has always been baby fine and very thin so I am experiencing some real sparse areas but have been wearing my hair up to camoflouge it. I have a dr appt this next week to talk about what to do. If he tells me anything different than I am doing (biotin, vitamins, protein, special shampoo) I will let you guys know. Other than that, look into a cute hat! haha I am! I wouldnt trade what weight I have lost for keeping my hair though! feeling great and so much healthier! Hoping your hair loss stops soon! I know it is a horrible feeling but concentrate on getting fit and healthy!

    Anyone not have saggy skin?

Hey there. I have lost almost 100 pounds and most of my body is pretty toned now except I still have a little bit a saggy skin in my belly area. I am still working hard to get it gone! It is taking a lot of work but I fully believe that I can get rid of it! I am 10 1/2 months out and hoping that by 1 year that my tummy will look much better. My legs had a little bit of flab but after working out a ton, they are toning! Just work work work!

    Oh the RAGE

Sorry you are feeling that way. The only advice that I can give you is to really look at each issue that you are facing and analyze it. Are the things that you are feeling really as bad as they seem (sometimes they are, but sometimes our emotions go haywire! I do that a lot with worry! I am a mother of young adults and can drive myself crazy with what ifs and when I look at things in a better frame of mind, I realize that I cheat myself of many wonderful minutes/hours of my life by worrying about things that never happen or are really out of my control.) There have also been times I have been extremely irritable and in the past, I would resort to food to help numb the feelings. It worked! Anyway, I dont have that anymore so I have had to take a serious look once again at my feelings and ask Why. Why am I feeling so ticked off with the world, with my husband etc. I actually heard a quote from Duck Dynasty of all places that really has helped me. I think the older uncle said it, he said something like "It's just a bad day, not a bad life" It is true, lets look at it for what it is and in the big scheme of things, we will have a bad day here and there but overall, we are alive, getting healthy and hopefully gaining a lot more self confidence and control over our own bodies and minds each day. Not sure if any of this has helped! I will be thinking about you though. I hope things get better. Not sure what things are in your life right now but I know that exercising when I feel irritable, weepy etc have helped. Just get out and clear your head, do some walking, jogging, Punching!!! Maybe it will help! Have a super dee dooper day!

EGD Test - H. Pylori Infection

I was diagnosed with having H-Pylori before my VSG but my dr waited until 3 months after i had my surgery to treat it. The treatment (medicines) were no fun but it wasn't a huge deal. I was glad to have it over and done with but since I live in a third world country and work in missions it probably wont be my last time with a tummy issue. Hope you wont have to deal with it! But just wanted to let you know that some drs do let you go ahead and have the surgery with it. have a great day!

    Multi vitamins after surgery

I have used gummy Vitamins since my surgery and haven't had any problems. I think that Wink is probably right because I have noticed that they aren't quite a complete Multivitamin but I bought a bunch and will use them up then start on the regular ones. Good luck with your journey!

    3 months op and preg

Congrats even though I know it is untimely. I will be praying for a healty pregnancy and your continued weight loss afterwards. All of my children were oops but they have been the biggest blessings of my life! Have a happy day~!
  21. I know you are annoyed but dont lose heart! The scale WILL move! Just give it a little more time and all at once it will drop! No way that it cant! Try to just wait a little while and dont step on the scale (easier said than done, coming from a lady that weighs herself 2 times a day! haaha) Dont get discouraged it will move!

    not a good day

I am so sorry you are feeling bad. Do what your dr ordered and go back to liquids, take it easy and if you need to, call the dr again if you continue to feel bad. Hoping you feel better soon!

    Post op Week 1 diet

I was on clear liquids for the first week, then cream soups for 2 weeks, mushy foods for 2 weeks and then begin with soft foods etc. Your dr will give you a list of what he expects you to eat. Hope things go well! You can do this!

    1 day 12 hours...of being fat

OH you are about to start on a fantastic journey! You are going to be just fine. The hospital, needles, yucky stuff will only last for a few days but this journey will begin and you will experience a lifetime of changes! You can do it! No worries darlin! Happy Beginning of the new journey, you are on your way!
  25. I had to stop eating them except in extreme cases like traveling. It was also funny, I had to leave early one morning and grabbed one and ate 1/2 of it and stuffed the rest of it in its open wrapper in my purse, literally 2 weeks later I found the leftovers in my purse and tasted it and it tasted as fresh as when I had first opened it! I was shocked at how many preservatives that must have taken to get it to last like that! I would stay away from it if you can and try to get your protein in other ways! Just my experience!
