  1. 72 pounds that is AMAZING!!! I think one of my fears is this won't work for me! Anyone else have that fear before surgery?

EVERYBODY has that feeling. I still have that feeling!! If you search around the threads on here you'll see hundreds of posts with the exact same fear!

  2. I just turned 53 when I had my surgery in April 12. I am down 74lb and I have just had a month stall. It is coming off slow but sure and that is fine by me. My goal is 100lb loss and I reckon it is going to take another 6 months.

Hi Cathy! Wow...74 lbs is amazing - Congratulations!

Would you mind sharing what your daily menu is like? Calories, carbs, types of food, Protein, etc? I'm 2 months out and have only lost 25 lbs and would love any advice!

  3. Better pic! Yeah was not expecting it so fast. We were planning to blind side mil but she warmed to him so fast. Lol his name is buddy he's from a shelter! I swear I thought he was singing from Le miserable lol

    He really is adorable!!

Yay for shelter dogs!! (I'm involved with an animal rescue group) and so glad you decided to give that baby a good home!!

  4. Let me make a lot of you feel better ;)

Sleeved 9/26/12 244 today 209 yeah that's right a huge 35 lb loss in almost 5 months. I work out 5/6 days a week 2/3 hour a day get my food Water so on all in and spot on. Blood work hormones all norm. So as for slow I might get the gold. No my inches don't move btw not in the past 10weeks. Some ppl just don't loss as fast as others. If your not working out you have only your self to be upset with when your not loosing weight. Well I watch what I eat drink and how I workout and I get nothing blah. But you know what the weight will come off even if I have it get it sucked out and cut off. I have a 25K "I was self pay" Portion Control device for life. :P

Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Ok, you win! ;)

  5. I have lost 19.5 inches since 1/30/13, and was pretty happy about that, but now I'm just stressed and frustrated. :-(

You know, when I read your post about getting scolded by your doctor it kind of pissed me off -- did he think that would help? More importantly, does he really believe that is fair to be scolded when you are following his guidelines?

Try no to let this get you down -- you have concrete proof that you are having success -- those inches are gone! Next time you see your doc slap him for me! :)

  6. Yeah we really have no choice but to keep plugging along. It is frustrating and it is okay to vent. When I see people saying I am a slow loser and I have lost only 50lbs in 3 months it frustrates me. I would take 1.5 or 2 lb loss. The other thing is my losses are not consistent. I can't even track a so called "stall" no rhyme or reason.

You are so right about the stall thing. When people say they're " in a stall", well, that must mean they were losing steadily then stopped....lol....I've spent almost the entire 8 weeks after surgery " in a stall".....I lose 1 pound, gain 2, lose 1, lose 2, gain 1. I have no way to even track a "stall".... in the last month I've only lost 7 pounds.

  7. Well when you all figure out the secret please fill me in. I have my appts tomorrow I am at 5 months and 42lbs down and that is naked so I am sure on my drs scale more like 40. I am sure he will look at me like I am crazy. I am in the gym, tracking and irritated. This is the same bs I went through pre surgery trying to figure out the right balance if calories end calories burnt yada yada ya. I didn't expect it to be this damn frustrating. I knew I would have to still work at this and no I would not have lost this much without my sleeve but it is still frustrating

I know exactly how you feel... I was not expecting magic but I did think I would lose steadily. If I was losing 2 lbs a week at a steady pace I would feel ok. I mean, I did NOT expect for it to be quite this slow when only eating 800 calories a day. I was concerned whether this would be successful because I was not having success losing weight at 1200 calories. I spoke to the surgeon about it and he reassured me that this would work because the surgery resets the body's set points. Now I am not so sure. I'm absolutely still glad I had the surgery -- if only to help control my portions so that I won't gain weight in the future. But yeah, I'm disappointed. Of course I'm not giving up --- just venting...

  8. Danal,

I eat about 600 cal with no,carbs other than veggies. I still need to exercise though.

I weigh 300 lbs and should be dropping fast bit I,am not.

My doc and nutritionist think it is because I take a lot of 3 different antipsychotics that are known for weight gain.

I haven't given up though. Besides,,I can't eat much anyway.

Hang in there. I know medication can wreak havoc on weight loss attempts. I'm on so many meds that I am sure that all the interaction plays a roll in slow weight loss... I need to exercise more too.....

  9. Sleeved 12/11, started at 280, was 276 day of surgery, down to 241 last friday but put on 4 lbs over the weekend from eating poorly (restaurant food instead of home food). Getting back on my schedule this week. So close to 40 lbs! @10 wks today. I have my 3 mos meeting on 3/15 so I'd love to be down 50lbs by then. That gives me 23 days, so should be do-able! That would be half of my goal weight! I sometimes do a shake in the mornings because I'm running late for work, they truly do satisfy me all the way til lunch. lunch is typically a salad of some sort, tuna, chicken or lettuce with Beans, chicken and feta, although yesterday I had a chicken curry kabob at the Greek place and it was yummy! I do get that little hungry feeling about an hour after eating, I never thought of it being due to stomach acid like some people say. I've been taking my pills in the evening, going to readjust that starting today and take them at lunch! Good luck to all.

Good luck on reaching your next goal!

  10. I'm a guy and I don't lose fast. I lost fast on pre op diet and on liquids post op but since then has been a stall about 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time I lose nicely. It's extremely frustrating because I see no rhyme or reason to the pattern of stalls and losses. I wish it was steadier, but so far I'll take the results; though I feel it isn't a good sign for me long term. Also, I do have lots of hunger type stomach pain lately. I may need to add an extra Prevacid per day. Right now I take one and also Zantac 150 at least once or twice per day... I'm hoping I get happier before my 3rd month appointment.

    Hi

I've been on Prevacid 2x day but I was still having that acid burning feeling. I added a Zantac, which helped for a while but in the last few days it seems to have gotten worse. I had my regular follow up appt yesterday and the NP gave me Nexium, which is the strongest PPI. I took it last night and I have had ANY burning or gnawing hunger feeling. I hope it lasts!

  11. I am two weeks post op and was feeling pretty good until I started taking my vitamins/supplements. Started taking Calcium, B12, folic acid and a multivitamin. The multi I was on for a few days and was ok. I think it has to be the folic acid or b-12. I feel like I have a lump in my throat and feel nauseated. I cant even take my other Vitamins bc of the way I feel. Anyone else go through this?

    Hi,

I had the same issues..... I split my multivitamin in half and I take one in the morning and one in the evening. Also, you can try taking the rest of the supplements at other times. This has helped me, thank goodness!

    ~Dana

  12. Hey Dana I was sleeves on the 20th and have only lost 26 pounds. I go see alli on Wednesday. I've been bummed cause I stalled for over 5 weeks I'm getting about 50 gms of Protein a day. I'm sure she will tell me the same thing. I hope it works! My husband went on a diet after my surgery and he's almost lost as much as me. Don't get me wrong I'm happy about losing this much just thought it would be more.

Yep, I saw Alli today. She'll probably tell you to up your protein... Where in New Orleans are you? Don't you just love how easily guys can lose weight? My husband can say that he's going to cut back this week and he'll lose 5 lbs. I cut my calories to 800 and can barely lose 1 lb!

You can tell Alli on Wednesday that we're on a forum discussing our slow weight loss!

  13. I eat anywhere from 559 to 750 calories a day I don't know I just "feel" like it would be even worse for me if I ate more.. One day I hit 900 but that was because I ate a little cake.

Laura, I feel the same way. I just have a " feeling" that eating more just isn't the answer for me. And it's not just the dramatic Oh my God I'm afraid I might gain a pound..... it's more like intuition .... lol But trust me, I wish it WAS the answer! I mean, what could be better than having a doctor tell you that you need to eat more! ;) A dream come true!
