    Thanksgiving

I'm single so I'm use to being alone. My family lives in a different state. You have a strong will power to stay on your pre-op while others are eating real food. Good for you.
  2. So timely. I was sleeved in July and just thought the A/C was changed. My sister was here to take of me and I didn't want to change it so she wouldn't be too hot. Then, I thought it was because the temps were getting cooler outside. Yesterday I work I was freezing and I even had an extra sweater on. I thought I was getting sick. So glad I'm normal--not a word that can usually be used with me. I have learned so much from this site.

    Thanksgiving

I am remaining at home so I won't be tempted. I'm just going to bake a tiny (2lb) smoked turkey breast, deviled eggs & greenbeans. A friend gave me a recipe for pumpkin protein pudding so I get to have dessert. I'm not going to my families for Christmas either because as we did growing up, there is handmade fudge, candy, cakes, and pies sitting around. I told them I would remain in the south this year.

    Munchie Help Needed

Thank you everyone for your help. No I'm not hungry. It's only been three months since surgery so luckily I don't feel hungry. What is 'pirates bootie'? We can eat salads? I thought we had to stay away from salads because our tummies won't digest it. I have been wanting a salad with grilled chicken on top. Fruit is high carbs and where I had mine done the patients, depending on the doctors, are given a 25-30g carbs per day limit with goal of 80g protien. By the time I would eat 1/2C grapes it would zap 2/3 of my daily carbs. I've been wanting a nice juicy apple and a banana. Seems I'm always messing up regardless how hard I try. Thank you again for taking time to answer.

    Munchie Help Needed

Hello, The last couple of days I have had the munchies. This is the first time since my sleeve 23 Jul. I can only eat so much string cheese. I've also munched on pecans and walnuts. I know it is from stress at work and completing my degree...finally. Drinking Water doesn't help. My first reaction was to purchase grapes but those are high in carbs. I also purchased a box of Atkins snack bars but my nut said to stay away from Protein type bars. I'm stall so much and I don't want to regain any of the weight. What do the rest of you do? Thank you

    I Need Help Please!

Really? I guess doctors are different. It was even on the post op directions. When I was getting dizzing and weak I told them I was getting about 60g day and was told that 60 was good but aim for 80. I've felt better since I'm getting the extra. Maybe it is because I was/am so large?

    I Need Help Please!

I was told to shoot for 80g of Protein per day. I begin with a Protein shake that I blend with BSN Lean Dessert Protein powder. Sometimes I add 1/4C Greek Yogurt to add extra protein. It takes me about two hours to drink it. While at work I will eat string cheese, low carb yogurt (Carb Master found at Kroger), a Pure Protein RTD shake. I also take protein shots (I know, some don't like these but I began feeling better after I started taking them & my nutritionist is fine with them). when I get home I mix up tuna or or very lean hamburger. The Protein shakes help to get the liquid count. BariactricAdvantage has a lot of protein Fruit drinks, protein pudding, etc. I purchase some things from them so I can get a change. Hope this helps.
  8. Hello, I was very nervous about the same things. You will be fine. Just remember to following the post op diet. Try to get enough Protein and Water in. Your tastes will change after surgery. Nothing tasted right to me. That will slowly improve. Write down all of your questions and concerns then talk with your doctor about them. Turns out that I'm allergic to morphine so I had hard dry heaves a lot the night of surgery. I was scared that I ripped open my sleeve but it didn't. Don't get scared if you get sick at your stomach. If mine survived that first night in the hospital then you should be fine. I have titanium staples (they don't dessolve) in my sleeve. The dr also put a stitch between each staple. Don't eat steak or hotdogs, etc until you are at the right stage. There was a lady that had the sleeve about two weeks after I did and she ate a hotdog. It caused her to throw up and it caused a leak. When I went in for my 2mo check up she was still in the hospital. Anyone is in danger of blood clots if they don't move around. Try to relax and focus on your future and baby. Read about all of the positive things about the surgery. I was off of my pre-diabetic and high blood pressure pills the second week of my pre-op surgery. I'm able to walk a lot better. I still have arthritis but it's nothing like it was. When you get nervous think of how much better you will feel to be able to play with your baby and she will have a healthier mommy. I pray things will get easier.
  9. I was just informed that the shots from Wal-Mart are not the same as those I had ordered from Bariatric Advantage website. Here is the link for the good shots. https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/list/11/Protein

    Protein Shakes Help Please

OK I goofed. When I saw the word 'Whey' in the name I thought it was the same as the ones I ordered from Bariatric Advantage web site. I just checked and it's not. The 'Yes Whey' brand says it is 100% whey. Again, thank you guys...I'm serious. I took for granted they were the same since the name was so similar. https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/list/11/Protein

    Protein Shakes Help Please

Interesting. Thank y'all for setting me straight on the protein shots. I thought they were ok because I first found them on a bariatric website that my doc uses. I'm only 2 months post op and I admit that I'm still learning. I'm still in the trial and error stage...mostly errors.

    Protein Shakes Help Please

Sure does. Has protein isolates. Whatever the protein it works for me and I got approval to use it. I stopped getting sick after starting them and the doc was very pleased with my protein levels. That's all I can go by.

    Protein Shakes Help Please

OTR sleever. The shots I purchase is made with whey protein which is absorbed by the body. My protein level when I had my blood work was right on. The nutritionist in with my surgeon thought they were good to use.

    Feeling Down

Since our bodies won't accept that much protein at once I drink half (about 1.5oz) in the morning and the other half when I get home from work. I blend a protein shake in the morning and have a pure protein at lunch.
