Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Yesterday every time I went for my protein shake I'd start to gag. Went with an Isopure and less than an ounce of mozzerella. That tiny hunk of cheese took me an hour to eat but I felt infinitely more human. I am drinking my protien shake from yesterday today and all is well.

I Hate My Pre-Op Diet!
Now I only want to get MORE descriptive. Don't mess with a woman with a hole thru her tattoo.

Weigh More After Surgery
Right outside my hospital room on my walking route was one of those industrial scales with handrails and everything. I was kind of expecting it, but it was harsh learning that I'd gained six pounds in a few hours. I wish they would have put that scale somewhere else; I hopped on that darn scale EVERY TIME I went walking. I am still in quite a bit of pain, but it's controllable with the liquid codeine. Drinking and getting my Protein in and just tons of walking. I haven't been hungry yet though, I only drink my shakes because my husband's on my rump to get my protein in. Is it silly to worry about not being hungry?

- 6 Days Post Op Questions...
I am 4 days out and being able to take more than a tiny sip at a time has been lovely. You would have to do some serious gulping to damage your new stomach. If you're having trouble with ice pops I wouldn't progress to solids so quickly. Call your dr about your pain and progressing your diet.- Sleeve Vs Lap Band
The sleeve just "clicked" for me. I couldn't stand the idea of outside interaction with a foriegn body inside my abdomen. I've had a port and will do my best to NEVER have one again. I have had bits of me removed, but didn't like the idea of having them rearranged.- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Four days out from surgery and I am sorry to report that I'm one of the folks with pain after coming home. Not a ton and not unmanageable, but if you hurt afterwards don't worry. We're all (mostly) normal. I have yet to be actually hungry, but I want to smell everyone's food! I don't want anything more than a good long sniff. How are our other post-sleevers doing?- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
- Hiatal Hernia Repair Along With Vsg
Seven. I thought it was six, but there was one overlapping a tattoo. Sneaky surgeon- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Day 2 post-op brings Cream of Wheat! I'm a little achey all over, but not terrible. Hoping I can go home today, but kinda wishing I could bring the bed and IV with. Something tells me my couch isn't going to cut it.- Effects On Family
I lost 25 lbs before surgery (yesterday), but my husband lost 37. I cannot wait to catch-up to him.- Hiatal Hernia Repair Along With Vsg
I had surgery yesterday and counted a few more incicion sites than I expected. Surgeon confirmed that I had a hiatal hernia repair. No other symptoms so far.- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
I'm alive and kicking! Surgery about 19 hours ago and I've already walked a few times and peed :-). The pain is starting to kick in, do not be a "hero", use the meds! No liquids so far, but I asked for a washcloth to keep my mouth hydrated and clean. Heating pad and lip-balm are lifesavers! Going back to sleep. Thanks for the support octosleevers!- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Headed to the hospital for my 6:30 check-in to my new life. Good luck everyone!- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Clear liquids today, surgury tomorrow. As of this morning I am down 25.1 pounds, 10% of my starting weight. Bring on the sleeve, I never want to see those 25 pounds again!- Five Days = Freaking The F Out
Surgury is tomorrow and I'm remarkably calm. Had a little breakdown last weekend, very cathartic. Thanks everyone!- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
I was talking to the nurse advocate through BCBS and told them I was planning on being home on Friday after surgery Thursday. She said something along the lines of, "Uhm, probably Saturday at the earliest."- Calories Burned Vs Calories Eaten
I wish weightloss was linear! We'd all be happy with our sizes if simple math would work. How are you liking the bodybug?- Scared.
I'm scheduled for the 4th and I'm a bundle of nerves. Hang in there!- Five Days = Freaking The F Out
I have been fine throughout the whole pre-op process until today. Five days out and I am Freaking Out. Not run away from the hospital or anything, just stressed and scared. Any advice from the veterans?- What Are You Working On?
What are you working on now? Whether you're combating the pre-op jitters, trying to stop other addictive behaviors, or keeping your hands busy, share your projects here. Right now I'm dyeing a TON of yarn for a Kickstarter campaign I started last year. I'm trying to get it all done before my surgery next week, but I don't think I'm going to make it...- What Size Do I Make?
A few months ago I sent my favorite hand-knit sweater through the dryer and, well, it shrunk/felted/broke my heart. I bought some yarn and I intend on making the pattern again (the Dollar-and-a-Half Cardigan by Interweave Knits) out of a cotton blend this time. I'd like to start knitting it now, but I have no idea what size to make. I will be 225 by my surgery date (next week, eek!) and hope to be down to 140 by next year. Any advice? I also found this fantastic cloth to make a skirt, but I'm holding off so I don't make something that I will be swimming in by winter. Is anyone else experiencing this type of frustration?- Stop Losing 2Nd Week......anyone Else?
The forums are riddled with posts about stalling around the two-week mark. Most are followed up a month or so later with "I lost a ton of weight" updates. Let your body adjust and don't panic! It's a marathon, not a sprint.- No Drain?
I was told that my surgeon rarely uses a drain. I've had two for previous surgeries and hated them. - 6 Days Post Op Questions...
