October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?
I was sleeved on October 11th. Down 26 pounds. Will take my one month "after" photos on Sunday so looking forward to comparing pictures. I am on soft foods and introducing new things. So far so good. I definitely am not getting enough liquids in. My sleeve doesn't seem to like when things are really cold so I drink closer to room temperature but need to get more Fluid in. Feeling good physically, energy and outlook on the future!

Whey Protein
I have been disappointed with Chike. I just got the sample and I find that they are very "frothy" I have been blending them in the blender with ice and soy or almond milk. Any other way people are making it that is not so frothy?

Wow - 300 Plus Calorie Protein Shake Breakfast
Wasn't able to finish the entire shake and it filled me up. I was still within my numbers for the day. Is banana "bad" or just higher numbers? I am 4 weeks out.

Chewy Vitamin Question
The flintstones are GROSS. I couldn't take them anymore. I don't know how parents can get their kids to take them. I went back to my prior vitamin but it messed with my pouch so I have to find something new. Need to talk to my NUT about it.

Wow - 300 Plus Calorie Protein Shake Breakfast
So I got the Chike flavor samples and decided to try the chocolate today. I also decided to freeze a small banana and add it to my shake. I used unsweetened almond milk 1 1/4 cup. 1 sample packet of chike and banana and it was over 300 calories and 23 carbs. Guess I will not be having this combo for Breakfast again! I used almost half my calories for the day on breakfast. The good thing is that it seems like it is going to be very filling so I may not be able to finish the whole thing. Next time I will only use half a banana and make a smaller portion. Learned a lesson that you still have to watch the numbers even with Protein shakes!

To Those That Are Post-Op...2 Questions From An "undecided"
I had surgery almost four weeks ago. What I would tell myself before surgery is - YOU ARE IMPORTANT. Your body will begin to hold you back from LIVING and you and your FAMILY deserve better than that, so take the steps, pay the price and go for it. I am only a few weeks out so I can't say I have regrets but when I think about that this is FOREVER it can be daunting. I am not in any way unhappy that I did it, I know it will extend my life and allow me to LIVE again, not just watch from the sidelines. I have my first holiday (Thanksgiving) coming up so we shall see how that is. I plan to eat my two favorite things - stuffing and spinach casserole and skip the rest. I know I will be satisfied, as far as full in my stomach, and hopefully my head will go along. I haven't had too much trouble with the head hunger or temptation so hopefully that continues. Someday I will have a taste of cheesecake or a sip of milkshake or a small ice cream cone, just not right now and not in the sizes that I used to have in the past and those small treats will be enjoyed but not missed in between. The surgery really is a wonderful TOOL. Good luck in your decision!

Having Tough Time At 3Wks Post Sleeve
Same with the nausea, I just started my fourth week post-op. I find if I have my shake right away, even though I really feel like I don't want it, that it helps a lot. Someone else suggested having a shake before bed so that your stomach isn't so empty in the morning.

Soft Food Stage- Need Meal Ideas For Whole Day
What about ground beef, egg salad, different types of soup with unjury chicken broth for added protein?

Nauseous Mornings?
I have found the same being nauseous in the morning. I try to have my shake as soon as I get up and even though I am not really interested in having it once I start sipping the nausea goes away and I enjoy the shake.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I am in NJ too - started soft foods yesterday, thank God because I had no idea how I was going to puree anything. I had made a yummy broccoli Soup the day before the storm hit and it went bad Sleeved on 10/11/12 Pre-op appointment weight 278 Weighed today 255 I am still trying to figure out what my hungry feels like and what my full feels like. I go back to NUT on the 14th so I look forward to going over my menu with her and seeing what she thinks. Hurricane Sandy derailed my walking for a few days, but tomorrow back on the daily walk I go!

I find that my sleeve doesn't like cold that much (shakes are fine, just other liquids) so I have cut out ice and am drinking closer to room temperature.

Any October 11Th Sleevers? How Are You Doing?
I was sleeved on the 11th - pureed stage through Wednesday. I am so sick of it. I am also getting really tired of the Protein shakes - 1 in the morning, 1 at night. I have tried had farina, one egg with a bit of mayo, ricotta with mozzarella and herbs blended. I constantly feel on the verge of nauseous. Not really nauseous but just funny. In the morning I wake up and I don't feel like having anything but I have my shake. I am still trying to figure out what hungry feels like. I haven't "cheated" on anything and I am only mildly tempted by other foods but I just want to eat normal again. Sigh! I am also tired but not necessarily sleepy tired just worn out. I have been walking around my block every day (won't be able to do that for a few days with Hurricane Sandy here). I am not 100 percent sure I am getting in all my protein, I am getting close but maybe missing the mark a bit. Good luck to all of my 11 sleever friends!

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Week three post-op for me. Down 18 pounds so far. Still have burping and heartburn. I feel like I am able to drink my shakes a lot faster than I was last week, that scares me. I had one egg with a bit of mayo yesterday for lunch and almost finished it. That scares me too. I am afraid that I will not have enough restriction and I won't lose. Last night I had some SF pudding because I had my shake earlier in the evening. I wasn't hungry but I just wanted some pudding. UGH! I guess I am just second guessing myself because it seems like it has been "too easy" so far. I just hope I am doing everything right. I still get tired some days, but overall I have much more energy than before surgery.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
The eating slow thing is tough! I thought I was having my soup slow last night but ended up with heartburn so I gotta slow down even more. It's bad enough the bites are teeny tiny but then to have to wait so long to get the next "bite" is a bit frustrating. Keep it up, you're getting there!

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Hey Susan, I was looking for you. Glad things are going well. I had the same back pain after surgery, They said from laying on the hard table for surgery. Moved over to full liquids yesterday and had my first heartburn but it is so nice to have something other than broth and clear liquid protein. So, what are you doing, clear liquid, full liquid?

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I had my first check in with the doctor today. Everything is progressing fine. I feel good and am especially happy to progress to full liquids. I had some clam chowder (just the soup - no lumps) for dinner. Looking forward to starting yogurt and protein shakes tomorrow. Down 10 so far.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Every day you'll be able to sip more liquid, that's what I have found. Good luck and I hope the nausea ends soon!

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Had my sleeve done on Thursday 10/11/12! Was the last surgery of the day...that was torture. First day my back really hurt when I took a deep breath, but that is better. Tired and a bit weak. The clear liquid protein is GROSS! The most I have been able to get down is about 20 gm. I am having the grape today and it is the best one so far. Haven't had a bowel movement yet but my NUT said to wait 24 hours off all pain med and if still none then start taking miralax. So we'll give it one more day. She said as long as I am getting in 4 oz of fluid per hour she is ok if I don't get the full 40 gm of protein this week. I think I will be able to finish this grape isopure today. Have been walking but feel kind of claustraphobic in the house. Maybe feeling a bit sad? I think mourning the loss of the food, but certainly excited about the future. I work from home and so I am going to try to do a little bit of work today. Glad to be here on the loser's bench with you all!

October Sleevers?
I had my sleeve on the 11th. Not until like 5pm! (That felt like the longest day ever). Came home Friday around 4pm. Am doing well other than tired, tired, tired. I haven't been able to get the full amount of protein yet. That stuff tastes nasty. Yesterday I had 1/2 a SF ice pop, about 24 ounces of SF fluid and about 20 grams (I think it is grams) of liquid protein. Today I will try to get more of the liquid protein. I am still having some belching and gas but no nausea. I just feel strange. I have changed my body, I can't undo it now and that is weird. I don't regret doing it because I know I needed it,but I wondre will it work, will I be okay. I work from home and think I will even be up to getting back to work this week. Happy for that. I am tired of watching television and sleeping. But the sleep just comes so quickly. I think I ended up w a cold as well. I had a stuffy nose the day fo surgery and was just praying that they wound't cancel me but when I woke up I saw that I have a cold sore on my lip and am still a bit stuffy. So I am taking my temperature consistently to make sure there is no problem. Well onward and upward! Got to change my ticker at the bottom now! anybody else have a update? And good luck to those going this week!
