what is your favorite snack post op

I have been on a bit of a sugar free instant pudding and fat free cool whip kick. It's nice to have dessert sometimes. Last night I had chocolate with a TB of PB2 added. Most of the time my snack is a cheese stick or some type of meat or other cheese.
  4. Had to get a pair of pants yesterday because the stuff I was wearing looks ridiculous. I am down two pants sizes and down four sizes in tops. I tried on a cute little dress 14/16! (Didn't buy it, but it fit!!!)

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I confess that I am disappointed I haven't gone down in clothing size more. I confess that I am disappointed that more people haven't said anything to me about losing weight. I confess that I really want to join the gym for zumba and weight training mostly, but am afraid I won't use it enough and it will be a waste of our hard earned money. (We really can't afford $70 a month but I really want to do it - I feel selfish)
  7. I am so, so very excited I have lost 52 pounds as of today. I had my surgery 10/11/12 SW 278 and today 226. I have never in my life lost 50 pounds so this is monumental for me. My husband bought me a cool gadget for my scrapbooking, the Silhouette Cameo, to commemorate the 50 pound loss. At 75 pounds I am getting a tattoo! And at 100 pounds a shopping spree. I feel like I can do anything now! Every day I feel more alive and confident and energetic. I am so blessed. I am so glad that I didn't let anyone else or me talk myself out of getting the sleeve. It was totally worth it!

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I can so relate to this. It upsets me so much that I didn't deal with things earlier so that my two beautiful daughters didn't have to struggle now. And then I open my mouth and all they hear is, "Blah, blah, blah," and said, "But you had surgery, it's easier for you." It breaks my heart. I hope that I can somehow help them because I know they will be happier being healthier. I confess that I really don't think I will ever be a "normal" weight even though I am losing. I confess that I am afraid my hair will never grow back and I will end up like women I know with half their scalp showing through the few sprigs of hair they have left. I confess that I really don't want to exercise but I know I have to for my metabolism and health's sake. I confess that I am excited to start traveling again! I confess that I really want my husband to lose like 30 - 35 pounds too, so we can both be attractive to each other again.
  10. No cruises but going to Florida in February for a college visit for my daughter and then in April with my husband for our 20th anniversary. Hope to be down 65 to 70 pounds by then! My doctor told me if I don't start exercising again my weight loss is going to slow down because and my metabolism will slow down to stop the body from starving. So I must get the walking back in. Congrats on 47 pounds - we are twinies LOL! I see you are going to hitting Onederland soon. That will be AWESOME, huh?!
  11. Had my three month check up with my doctor yesterday down 49 pounds since surgery 10/11/12. Very, very happy! Now I have to kick my exercise back into gear!
  12. Congratulations to you on regaining your identity and YOUR LIFE! God is good. If you both put God first in your marriage he can and will heal it! So happy for you that you are taking care of yourself. Keep up the great work!

is brown rice better for you?

I can't say for sure if it swells or not but I can share my experience. I am three months out. I had rice about a week ago, I measured 1/4 cup and only finished half of it and I was fine, didn't notice anything different about my sleeve. That is the only time I have had rice, though, as once I get my Protein and veggies I just don't have room for it.

    Coffee lovers...

Follow what YOUR doctor suggests. My NUT said coffee was fine, not too strong (didn't need to be decaf). I have my 1 1/2 cups in the morning and I mix it with my protein powder and some sugar free flavorings. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Get my yummy coffee and my protein for the morning. In the spring/summer I will probably go back to shakes in the morning, but I so enjoy the hot beverage in the fall/winter.
  15. Most of what I have read is that people noticed between 3 and 9 months the worst of it.
  16. You can definitely lose more weight, there is nothing stopping you from losing by having the surgery but it will be "harder" so it may take different strategies to get past that 70% of extra weight (as I have heard 70% is what usually can be expected)
  17. BMI charts can suck it! Sorry, I couldn't resist, they just make me mad. I am 5' 3 1/2" and if I weighed at bottom of my BMI I would be around 115. That would be sickly. When I got married I was 145. I haven't set my goal for 145 because I don't want to be disappointed not to get there. Would I like to get back to my wedding weight? Meh. I am not sure if it is possible with the extra skin that I will have. I started at 278 and want to get to 165. Once I get to 165 I will go from there. I feel like 165 is attainable and I want to say that I MET my goal. That is important to me. Once I get to 165 I will re-evaluate if I want/need to go lower.
  18. Yep, my hair has thinned a lot! There is a recent post that people have been talking about the hair loss and someone posted a link which I found interesting: http://www.mybariatricsolutions.com/blog/weight-loss-surgery-hair-loss-tips
  19. I get about 60 grams of protein per day do you think upping it to 80 will help prevent hair loss? I am taking 5,000 biotin religiously. My hair was thin to begin with and I am just reaching the three month mark and am afraid the loss is going to worsen. It has definitely been coming out already but if it gets worse I can't imagine. So wondering if I should up the protein. I get about 600 - 700 calories a day.

    October sleevers

The best I am able to do with my fluid is about 48 ounces of fluid. I just cannot concentrate on it enough to get any more down. I also go through bouts of loving to drink one thing and then hating it (Crystal Light, Mio, Benefiber) so keep switching it up. I also need my drink to be more room temperature or hot. The colder it is the harder it is for me. I weighed on Thursday (my weigh day) and didn't lose last week but then I cheated and weighed myself on Friday and it showed I had lost 3 pounds, but I am not going to "publish" that loss this week because I don't want to be disappointed next week if the loss isn't great. LOL - the things we do to try to trick ourselves. So I will say, sleeved on 10/11/12 down 43 pounds.

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

I also just heard that Sabina is no longer there. Don't know why, though. I am sure they will have to get another nutritionist, but hopefully quickly and it is kind of a bummer because it will be a new person to get to know. Sabina was so helpful and upbeat. Hope they can find someone just as good.
  22. Wow! Awesome results! Congratulations and ENJOY!
