EGD = esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Translation...it's an upper endoscopy. They look at your throat down to your stomach. Checking for lesions, ulcers, hernias, etc. they want to make sure it's clear and there are no issues prior to surgery.

Nuclear Stress Test - Why And What To Expect
tallysfunny replied to scorpion509's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can go to any cardiologist you want. Go to someone else. -
I'm fortunate in where I live. I want dinner, I can walk down the street drop a couple lines in the intercostal and catch fish. Or my friend takes me shrimping. That is nice. Plus I keep a garden and in Florida I can pretty much have fresh herbs all year long. It's not as cost prohibitive for us. We will or do each less so I think investing in that lifestyle will pay off in spades.

You're gonna do great!

I've read several books on the subject as well. My favorite was by Robb Wolf. His was educational and funny. He literally broke the info down into laymens terms, then would say "ok time for geek speak". And he wrote about gallbladder issues specifically that was fascinating. If you're going to read a book about this lifestyle, I highly recommend this book to get your feet wet.

Last Lane Bryant Purchase!
tallysfunny replied to Sannah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No more shopping at lane "giant". Cannot wait for that. Seriously. I just want to shop in the normal section for once. And have it be for me instead of for a gift for someone I know. -
Can I Use Fmla/disability
tallysfunny replied to lynn2win's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FMLA only protects your position at a company so long as you do not exceed 12 consecutive weeks in a 12 month period. Even then your specific position is to guaranteed. Only a comparable position within the organization is guaranteed. . I had an employee that used FMLA, exceeded her 12 weeks and was let go when she came back to work. She almost died several times due to stage 4 breast cancer. Best advice.....read up on the policies. -
I'm in volusia county. Where are you going for yours? I'm currently completing my 16 week weight management program. Once that is complete I will already have all of my clearances and can have it submitted to Florida Health Care. I'm going through Dr. Sebastien at East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Medical. Good luck!!

Mine said I have to stop them for a while prior to surgery as they are hard on the stomach. Must be just if fervent philosophies.

What Is Your Goal Weight ?!
tallysfunny replied to jasmineb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6ft, I'm just shy of 320 lbs and I'm 33. My personal goal is to get to around 170 which gets me to a normal BMI. My doc said that he thinks i will be good at 180-ish. I carry a lot of muscle on my frame. Casein point, I went with my mother and her friend to gather firewood for a bonfire we were having at tht friends house. I went to pick up a log and started dragging it....that friend was on it and i moved it jut fine. She thought it was hilarious that I picked the log and her up at the same time and thought nothing of it. Lol. I think an athletic frame is gorgeous and sexy....therefore I will have one someday. -
Jut read the info based on the brand you buy. Some are color coordinated but some are not start slow and work your way up. I use heavy because I am very strong. But I am sure once I go through surgery I will need to start lighter in order to build myself back up.

Nalasmom...go to eBay and buy a 12 month subscription. I paid just $28 for the year for mine. And I only paid $50 for my bodybugg/Bodymedia band. eBay is our friend. Lol.

Any November Sleevers?
tallysfunny replied to tallysfunny's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm perfectly content with no turkey or all the trimmings this year. Getting sleeved is far more important to me. Besides its not what or how much you eat that matters...it's the people you spend the holiday with that matter. And I for one would love to spend it with the sleeved version of me. Lol. -
What part of Florida?

Emotional Eating - Prepare For Life After Surgery?

Chad2rad....the mere fact that you are on here confessing your slip ups and asking for accountability just shows how much respect you have for yourself and the process. Good for you. When you make your list...do it this time from the point of view of why you are worthy of this, why your self respect needs this and why you love yourself enough as a human being to want the best for you. Everyone here, regardless of errors, slip ups and/or cheats deserve this chance at a better life. The way I look at it...broth might not be a filet mignon, but if it fuels my body, gets it ready for surgery then it's freaking delicious. No matter what. Weneed to change the relationship we have with food. Or should I say, sever the strangle hold it has on our lives and psyche? You'll do great. No matter the hour or the day...there is always someone here on this site to give you support! Take care, be good...and give us a shout if you need us!

Any June Sleevers
tallysfunny replied to Grammy Pammy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Maybe the food is too salt? Or processed. Your body is healing and incredibly sensitive. It could be sensitive to the hormones and preservatives in those foods. Could you try less processed foods? Or maybe go back on a modified puréed and solid food diet. At least with the puréed you get something in ya! Just my thoughts. -
