sramos89 got a reaction from hiccupingduck in When Did You Eat Pizza?
    Lolly,
Girl! There are sharks on these boards and when they see you talking about pizza, doritos, etc.. they smell the blood in the Water and you are toast!! As for me, I had this surgery so I could live like a normal person, eating normal portions and end my dieting, food obsession nightmare. I am not living my life on Protein Shakes. That said, I still have to have a Protein Shake everyday to get all my Protein in because I am only 2 months out. I am a lucky one who has a sleeve of steel and have only barfed once and I think I ate too fast and didn't chew well enough. I tolerate everything. I ate a very small piece of thin crust delight pizza from papa murphys at about 6 weeks. I was full. It was great, I used to eat 4-5 pieces to feel full before.

My first thought was that it was a lack of a Vitamin. I started having seizures when I was 29 years old. I was put on meds and told "there is still a lot about the brain we don't know" I still take the meds and we still don't know why I had a seizure. You might never know either. I don't know that I would blame the surgery unless you are low on a vitamin or enzyme- I hope you get some answers soon. I know it is so scary. I have been on the meds 12 years and it's okay now.

It seems that there are two major groups on this forum. Those who get the sleeve and use the tool to eat less and loose weight and those who get the sleeve to kick off a new life of healthly eating, exersice, Protein Shakes and basicly a totally new life. The first group, in which I belong, is a little more laid back, we are going to incorporate birthday cake and margaritas. I would love it if the group of "Sleeve life changer- health nuts" would give us "Laid back sleevers" a break and not accuse of us of being trolls, or giving bad advice. We have a different lifestyle, it is okay not to be just like you, I promise. There needs to be room for both types of people on this forum. When I first started reading I thought the only people on here were health fanatics, I am glad to see there are people who are not running 5k's and drinking Protein shakes 4 weeks out.

You need to research Dr. Garth Davis in Houston Texas. He is a Bariatric Doctor and Vegan. He is on Facebook and if you friend him, he actually writes you back! He is very supportive of of this lifestyle. If you would have asked me this question before I knew him I would say impossible! You need too much Protein from meat but after seeing how passionate he is about being able to maintain VSG with no animal protein I believe it can be done! Good Luck to you!

Thank you for your post. I was have a very difficult and miserable time following my doctors orders and I too was having no problems. I am two weeks and I day post surgery today and started eating chicken last saturday and I have been so happy. I eat small amounts and I chew very well and I have had no problems. I am not going to put tuna in the blender and drink it. Not going to happen. I want to get my Protein through food and not stupid Protein Shakes and artificial flavors and sweetners. My goal with the sleeve was to eat and live like a "normal" person. Protein shakes and fanatical eating is no normal life for me. I do not ever want to go back to my awful eating habits that got me in this position in the first place. I loved your post and I hope you don't get beat up for it, there are some people on here that are pretty critical of anyone not following the plan to a T.

My insurance covered my surgery after my deductible. I work at a satellite office and don't see our HR people but once or twice a year. I made a point when I was at the office in January (4 months post op) to go to the HR office and tell all of them about my surgery and how it has changed my life, how loyal I felt to our organization and what a better job I have been doing because of my increased self esteem since my weight loss. I am sure they think I am a total nut, but I kinda got emotional talking about it. I told them the reason I wanted them to know all this is because I know every year they are faced with making cuts and changes and how important it was to not exclude bariatric surgery to save money. They all kinda looked surprised and happy, I don't think they get thanked very often but I wanted to ensure this amazing benefit was there for others, I would have never been able to have this without my insurance. I know how life changing it is.
