  1. I am scheduled to be sleeved Oct. 8 in Mexico with Dr. Garcia. I have been very excited until now. About 2 months ago I got pneumonia that lingered. After 2 rounds of antibiotics it went away. (dont know if it's related, but thought it worth mentioning). Then, the 9th of this month had a horrific flare-up of hemorrhoids. PCP sent me straight to a specialist. Had a colonoscopy on aug 13th with no ill efects. Had colorectal surgery, incidentally my first surgery ever, on the 17th. After surgery the surgeon came out, said all went well and my family could go back in a few minutes. Over 2 hours later I was still on the vent bc they could not get me 2 breathe on my own. The worst part was the last 20 or 30 minutes when I was fully conscious, but could not move a muscle. Nonetheless, I was finally able to breathe on my own and a few hours later they sent me home. On day 4 after the surgery I became so I'll I could barely hold my head up. I went to the ER. My BP (normally 100/60) was 160/120, my heart rate was 156 and my temp was 101.7 this was with me taking 2 Percocet every 4 hours wh has 750 mg of Tylenol. I was there for 2 nights and on the 3 rd day felt much better, begged to go home. I was given the big gun IV antibiotics like vancomycin, flagyl and others I can't recall. I was sent home on 2 oral antibiotics and have felt like I was dying until yesterday. Even today if I'm up for more than a few minutes I'm so weak I have to lie down. Do you think this was just bad luck or a huge sign saying do NOT have this surgery ever? I desperately want it, but fat and unhealthy seems better than dead. Sorry its so long with so much info. FYI my blood work all was normal and my surgical site was always beautiful. Nice healing.
  2. Kiki and sacharliem we are so close in dates. Fun. It's nice to have a built in group of buddies. I am nervous though because I unexpectedly had to have a surgery this pat Friday. They had trouble getting me off the vent. I was assured I wouldn't know I was intubated bc it would go in after I was asleep and come out in the OR before I ever woke up. After the surgery was over, the surgeon came out, told my boyfriend I did well and he could go back to recovery with me in a few minutes. Apparently another 2 hours went by. I woke up in recovery, hearing everything the docs and nurses were saying but unable to move a muscle. I was scared to death bc I could feel that I couldn't breathe on my own, felt like I was choking on the endotracheal tube and couldn't even let them know I was awake. Has anyone heard of that before? Does that mean it will likely happen again? Can they handle that type of situation in Mexico? I'm kind of freaked out. I saw a couple of nurses on here. Any thoughts?
  3. Good luck to you too. We will be getting healthy ( and hot;)) at the same time. I have done one YouTube Vlog and plan to do more. Search lonischram. I meant to do more and sooner but actually had to have a surgery today. This one was not planned and came up in the past week or two. That's thrown me off. I will get back with the program. Do you have a blog? I'd love to check it out if you do.
  4. Sweettea we will be there at the same time, at least for a few days. Hopefully we can meet, even of its just in passing.
  5. Sounds like we've lived in similar locations. Those are my big 3. I've heard good things about Dr. Alvarez. I hope we all get great outcomes and no complications.
  6. Sorry. Different person;). Ive not got the hang of this yet. Are you in fl?
  7. Orlando. I'm from Melbourne originally so it's like being home. What part of Ohio are you in?
  8. I'm seeing Dr. Garcia and will be at mi doctor hospital. I lived in cincinnati for 2 years. Just moved from kentucky to Florida last year. Who's your doc?
  9. Loved, not lived.
  10. Mznineteen I hate to hear that you are hurting. Unfortunately I don't think there is an easy way to deal with being hurt by the person who is supposed to love you the most. That said, you can get through this. At your age I had a rough go of it too. You are on the right path though. You are taking care of yourself and have made some hard decisions to improve your life. You are getting healthy and that's awesome. Therapy is a life saver if you have access to it. If that's not possible then you need to keep doing things that you can be proud of and focus on feeling good about yourself. You cannot change your mother or her behavior. You can change how you respond to it and how you feel about it. Spend some time listing all of the things that are wonderful about you. List things you are proud of. Then watch how you talk to yourself. Every day you need to show yourself some love by affirming your positive traits and worth. Then find things that bring you joy. It's worked for me. That's not to say nothing will ever hurt you but your perspective can shift. If my dad says something hurtful ( in the rare situation I see him) I tell myself that he is screwed up, not me. Well not as much;). Then I remind myself that I am a strong, loving, and intelligent woman. I refuse to let anyone make me feel less than. I agree with the poster about being lived by our maker. You are unique among all women, created with love to be the person you are. No one can take that away. If you have a spiritual side that can be a huge source of love, comfort and peace. And you have our love and support.
  11. Tfazio it sounds like you are just a few days ahead of me! Are you nervous? Where are you coming from. I'm in Florida so it's going to be a long trip. On the way there it's a non issue but I'm a little worried about the trip home.
  12. Can anyone explain to me how/why being on a low carb high protein diet is healthy? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I understand why we need the protein to prevent muscle loss during weight loss but have to wonder about it as a long term eating strategy? Isn't high protein hats on your kidneys? Plus, I thought whole grain carbs were good for you. Thanks for the info.
  13. Please go to the ER. Doctors are obviously smart and well educated but they are human. Noone knows your body like you. Don't let embarrassment or fear of looking like you are over reacting ( whatever) hold you back from seeking medical assistance. I know nothing about leaks or this surgery and im not a doctor. But common sense tells me that the rate at which you drink can't cause jaundice. Go to the emergency room and then let us know you are OK. Always better safe than sorry.
  14. Good Luck!! Love and prayers.
  15. I love this!! I have tons of fantasies, but my evil one is for my ex husband. Recently we were at my son's baseball game and he asked me if I was pregnant. In front of my significant other no less. I'm 42 and he knows good and well I'm not so I wanted to choke him, but that's another fantasy;). I'd just love to lose a ton of weight and look smoking hot. He would hate that!
  16. I am scheduled to be sleeved October 8th with Dr. Garcia. Part of me is excited and ready to get this show on the road. Another part of me is wondering if I have lost my mind. Is anyone going to be in Mexico 10/07 to 10/11?
  17. I haven't had surgery yet but I have a lot of experience with a lying husband. Mine is an ex now and is still lying. I wish I had left him after the first child and/or the first set of lies. A dyed in the wool liar will always turn things around and put the blame on you when they are caught. It took 18 years with the guy and turning 40 to finally realize that the question isn't "w how could he do this to me?". It's "how could I allow him to treat me this way.". You deserve better, but you have to believe it first. You are on this awesome path of self improvement and discovery. You will make the right decisions for yourself.
