    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

This made me laugh because I have thought about this too. Good luck and just picture the docs and nurses naked too.

    Preop Changes

If you are really stuck with eating fast foods look up the nutrition guides online. Most places have them so you can make an informed choice and look at the carbs. Skip the fries but have the cheeseburger just order it without the bun. I have done this and they never say a thing. For crunch replace the chips with pork rinds. You might need to try a few brands and a few flavors until you find one that suits your taste. I have these with a little salsa when I have needed to munch. Almonds are also a good Protein rich snack. You can nuke pepperoni pieces in the microwave to make chips. You can even nuke an american cheese slice cut into squares to make a cheese cracker. Go for the SF frozen pop, Jello, pudding cups, frozen fudge pops or something like an Atkins bar for your sweet tooth. Eating low carb takes some planning but with a little time you can figure it out.
  4. I am on a two week liquid diet and I will have to say it has been hard only in that I have found I hate Protein shakes. I am not a big sweet eater so the sweet shakes and drinks are now making me nauseous. I am very worried about getting in my protein. I have been eating very little, mostly broths and sf ice pops or fudge pops and I can easily deal with that. I ordered some unjury unflavored Protein powder to try in broths. So the last couple of days I have supplemented my clear broths with a cup of cream of broccoli Soup and also a roasted rep pepper and tomato soup and I had a greek yogurt all of which are not on my doctors liquid diet (his says only broth) although I have seen them on others. I am keeping my carbs low which I know is the most important thing. I have another week to go and I wonder if the addition of the Soups for four days will really matter before I go on my clear liquids for three days. Even with the addition of the cream based soups I am only getting in 300 calories a day and under 30 grams of carbs. What carb levels are you at right now in the pre-op diet?

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Klyn- Thanks for the great soup recipes. I am on liquids only for two weeks so I won't be able to puree the veggies and seafood right now but I will definitely try these out post op when I move to the full liquid state. Leprechaun- I went ahead and ordered some unjury Protein samples and will be making my own broth and will add the unflavored Protein powder to it. I like the pic of your pup!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Hello August Sleevers! I am set and ready for my sleeve on August 8th with Dr. Almanza in Mexico. I am 5 days into my 14 day liquid diet. I am already having a hard time getting enough Protein in. I am not a big sweet eater and the majority of Protein drinks are sweet and thick. I have found some Isopure drinks that are clear and tart but would like to expand my protein options. Anybody have suggestions? Name- Frankie Age- 51 Location- Dallas, TX Highest weight: 320 Weight at decision to have VSG: 314 Current : 297 Goal Weight: 125 Anything else you'd like to share? I have a partner of 8 years, no children other than 2 very loved dogs. I am a successful loser but do not maintain weight loss well. I am looking forward to having my sleeve as a tool to help me maintain my weight loss for life. I currently work for myself as a designer. I hope that with significant weight loss I will be more competitive and also more attractive to potential customers. I am also looking forward to going back to riding horses which I used to love.

    Pre-Op Cortisol Urine Test

I have had cortisol testing a couple of times. Not much fun to carry around that jug all day! There were also blood tests taken as the beginning and end of the testing. The first test I had showed that I had very high cortisol levels due to stress and ongoing pain issues. When I had another test several years later my cortisol level was very low and the doc said I had "adrenal fatigue" due to long term high stress level. I now take a couple of supplements and do feel better and have more energy. Good luck with your testing I hope it turns out normal.
