  1. Thank you George..... Very much. It's comforting to hear from someone that not only went through the same thing so recently but also who lives so close by! (I think given your name) I live in Watertown but I'm still in a hotel in Boston with my mom until tomorrow. How are you getting Protein in? Anything other than shakes?

How did you know I was from Boston :-) I actually live in Arlington, very close to Watertown. My NUT allows yogurt in stage 3. So that has been a big help. They actually brought me yogurt the 2nd morning in the hospital. It really helps to change things up. If your allowed yogurt I would try it.

  2. The Bear checking in: six days until surgery. My personal physician cleared me for surgery' date=' the check for the doctor has been surrendered, I am pre registered at the hospital, and I am still not to thrilled about the catheter being shoved into mr happy..... But, excited to get this done. I was the Fat kid and suffered (until l learned to beat the shmit out the first instigator and the rest would leave you alone) my weight has made me strong, determined and one of life's fighters, bit I am so eager to say goodbye to it!![/quote']

Don't even worry about the catheter man. It's not in that long. And, your asleep when it's inserted. You'll be so happy it's coming out you won't even realize it. Focus on all that weight your going to lose!

  3. My turn is on next Tuesday the 20th. I have to be there by 8:30 for my noon surgery. I'm also seeing my surgeon tomorrow for my preop appointment and on Friday I see my bariatric PCP last time preoperatively. Getting excited...not really nervous though. I've had a number of surgeries in my lifetime. S it's old hat to me...though I'm a little concerned about the anesthesia. I either wake up mean or all lovey dovey. And I tend to sing dirty ditties when it's preop med time. Lol. Oh well.

wow that's coming up so soon! that's hysterical about the anesthesia;-) You have done all your homework so I know you'll do great! Where are you having your survey?

  4. I'm sick of them too and I'm just in preop. Ugh. What are you doing to change things up a bit? sugar free Jello or pudding to the shakes? Changes up the flavors.

I bought the Unjury chocolate splendor. They are smooth and easy on the stomach. What I did was buy a variety pack of Isopure ready to drink. They have all juice flavors. They are good, but a tad sweet. I dilute them with Water a bit. What helps to is if you buy vanilla Protein Powder, then add a teaspoon of sugar free Hershey chocolate or strawberry Syrup. it really helps to have variety.

  5. How are you feeling my friend? I'm glad to see you posting and helping those of us joining the losers bench after you. It is appreciated.

It's my pleasure to help. Im doing better. My biggest challenge has been meeting my Protein and liquid goals. It takes so long to finish a Protein shake! I would have never thought this would be the biggest challenge :-) Im just trying do the right things :-). I'm down almost 20lbs

  6. Chris or George....or anyone who recently had their surgery. I had mine on Monday and my doc put me on stage 3. I am having such a hard time getting enough in without feeling overstuffed. Did you guys feel that a couple days after surgery? I don't know how I'll get 60 Proteins and 2liters of Water in..... <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Yes, I felt the exact same. To be honest, I've yet to fully hit my Water or Protein goal. I just do the best I can. I'll have some fluids as soon as I wake up. then 45 mins later I try to have a Protein Shake. I try to repeat that process as often as my stomach lets me. Just do your best, gets as much of it as you can. Even if you have to spend an hour and take tint, annoying sips :-) It gets easier each day. I promise. Get as much in as you can. Take your time. We're all having trouble meeting those goals of liquids and Proteins

  7. Hi Everyone. I need help from all of you tha are recently post op. I came home from hospital today. Was sleeved on Monday am and for Monda and Tues. I was so miserable' date=' pain, excrutiating gas etc. Couldn't even suck on ice chips. Now I can sip Water only and gas is stilll freaking nuts. I am walking and sitting up but heartburn is off the charts. Is this normal? Will it end? There is no way I can drink Protein at this point - dr. said not to worry about it for a few days then go it slow. omg[/quote']

Don't stress yourself out. Every body heals their own way. I was miserable Monday and Tuesday as well. But, each day gets better . I promise. Don't worry about the protein yet. Just stay hydrated, that is the most important thing. Just take small sips all day. The heartburn I believe is normal. My dr sent me home with 2 meds for that. Maybe call your dr and tell them how bad it is? I know it's no fun right now, but I promise, it gets easier :-) Get those fluids in

  8. Hi Boston George - IDK if anyone else answered your question' date=' but I was sleeved on 11-6 and I still have mild stomach pain, with almost every sip I take. I never had nausea or vomiting though, just these mild abdominal pains & no matter how small the sip - it always feels like I gulped a lot of air. I think this is all normal though.

I do think yesterday I may have overdone it a little. It was my first day to drive, which I only drove to the store to fill a presciription, to the gym for a quick walk on the treadmill and then I had a class. But the bag I had my books in may have been a little heavier than the 5 lbs they told me not to lift. Today I did a small load of laundry and now I am feeling like I probably should have just rested. I'll do that the rest of today.[/quote']

Thank you! That makes me feel much better!

  9. I actually have done this. When I decided to start eating a little bit more to satisfy myself a bit more than a half cup of soup' date=' it happened. I was really really full and uncomfortable with some pain twinges most of that night. I figured I had over done it too. I scaled back on the amount of Soup and ate slower so that my body could tell me when to stop. Since then I haven't done that to myself. I think the key is eating or drinking slower so that your stomach isn't overwhelmed with so much at once.[/quote']

    Chris,

Thank you so much. That makes me feel a lot better. I'm feeling better today. I've decided to slow things down. Have to remember this is a new stomach that needs time to heal and adjust. Thanks again buddy

  10. Been sleeved for one week and two days' date=' all is going well. I can understand about the feeling of missing food and the experience, I have noticed how much of my life revolved around food and going out to meals. I've saved a crap load of money and I've been trying to figure out how to spend my time besides eating, I've been walking a lot and spending time with my daughter. At first I wasn't hungry at all, that last for about 5 days. The last few days I have been very hungry. I did start eating more strained Soup, I am on a smooth liquid diet. I am taking in around 500-800 calories a day, I hope that is within Normal limits. I have no pain, maybe some discomfort sometimes and some twinges of pain when I Drink too fast but I think that's the way to tell me to slow down so I don't get over full. My belly is still pretty bruised from the lovenox shots and the surgery itself, my incisions sometimes are a bit sore now, maybe I'm using my stomach muscles too much. All in all things are going good. Can't wait for my next appt. so my surgeon will let me eat real food. It's also funny how people don't want to eat around me, I actually don't mind since when I eat my soup I am satisfied like I ate a full meal, I think they think I'm missing out, when it was my idea to do this because I don't want to eat so much and be healthier. Anyone else experience this? Anyway, just wanted to check in, hope all is good for everyone, here's wishing for speedy recoveries the everyone![/quote']

I have experienced everything you just wrote about! Everything had been going fairly easy until yesterday. I ate some Greek yogurt early in the day. Then last night I Ate some Water down Tomato Soup very thin. For the rest of the night I felt an upset stomach and it made me really nervous that I may have overdone it. Has anybody else experienced this I hope I didn't do anything bad to my stomach I know it's still healing. I have followed the stage III liquid diet so strictly I hope I didn't mess it up with this mail

  12. Sleeved on Monday' date=' 11-5. Doing great. gassiness is gone for the most part and no more naseau. Went for a walk today and yesterday, not quite a mile. Really wipes me out but feels so good to be outside. Still on clear liquid diet till tomorrow. Then I get to add Protein shakes. Hoping that goes down ok cuz I do feel weak.[/quote']

    Hello!

I was sleeved the same day as you were. Can I ask, are you experiencing any mild stomach pain / discomfort? Mostly intermittent

  13. Tomorrow Morning! Nervous as all get out. arranged for the dog sitter' date=' cleaned the house, filled the bird feeder, ate everything in sight! I made my husband and daughter promise not to visit! My husband is going to drop me off, then come back and wait in the waiting room to talk to the surgeon. I think if I am going to be miserable, I'd rather be miserable by myself or maybe with my two little dogs, but not with anyone else. Why can't my dogs come with me?

I am so happy for the support of all of you. Thank you big time to Jessielynn who shares my surgeon and to ChrisRN and Boston George. All were sleeved on 11/5 and I've been thrilled to watch their progress. Thanks, guys.

    Hello!

Thank you for your kind words :-) You are going to do fine. I had my surgery last Monday and I'm down almost 19 lbs! It's crazy how little up you can eat. You are going to do great. Good luck on your journey!

  15. Well it's here...November 12th....my new birthday! Sitting in the waiting room ready to start my new life. Surgery is scheduled for 1 and I'm actually surprised I'm not more nervous. I feel very peaceful and calm. Good luck to you all getting sleeves today!

It's going to go great! I was in the exact same, postion last Monday. It will be over before you know it..It's like taking a 2 second nap. You wake up, and it's all done ;-) The weight will start falling off starting today..I will say a prayer for you , but, I know you won't need it :-)

  16. Oh that's good that you have some time to rest and adjust more to your sleeve. The liquid-only phase must be challenging! I know it probably seems like it's taking forever' date=' but before long you'll be moving on to the next stage....yogurt! Yay!! (Hey, gotta find the humor in things.) But seriously, before you know it, all these food stages will be a distant memory and you'll be feelin' totally kickarse.[/quote']

Ha! I'm already in yogurt! they gave it to me day 2 in hospital
