I think it varies with each surgeon / hospital. From what I was told' date=' leaks are very rare. Tomato Soup was on my pre-op diet, in fact they brought it to me while in the hospital. Mash potatoes were not. Surgeons preference I believe[/quote']
Dam IPhone! I meant to say, your right. It does vary per surgeon. And Tomato Soup was on my post op diet

Mashed potatoes are on my post-7 days menu! Although I see all these people eating Tomato soup' date=' and I'm not allowed that for 3 weeks, so post-op instructions really do vary by surgeon. In fact, I just finished a few tablespoons of mashed potatoes, and I am 11 (12?) days post-op.[/quote']I think it varies with each surgeon / hospital. From what I was told, leaks are very rare. 13 days post op.One more wk of shake and anything through a strainer.
Doc was telling me about a patient that tried mashed potatoes 9 days post op is in icu for a leak. Not worth the risk imo
Being self pay not worth it at all.
I agree. That's some scary stuff. Thank god my will was strong enough for the post op diet of liquids

Looks like I will be a December sleever. The wonderful people at Signa decided not to accept my original office visit and dietitian visit in Nov 11 because... It's November it has been one year' date=' and the dietian visit had to be within a year!! (no ****!! I was astonished) I can't see the dietian again until Dec 3 (within a new month) so surgery in now set for Dec 10th. Good luck Nov sleevers. Becareful Dec sleevers, keep all you medical records, and rest the finest of print.[/quote']That really sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the wait is quick

Thanks George! Surgery went very well yesterday and I'm really feeling well outside if being just a little sore' date=' but I really can't complain! Just waiting to have a smooth recovery! Heading back to Florida from Tijuana on Friday night and to finally relax in my own bed! Yippee! Thanks for all of your support to us late November sleevers and you were right; there was really nothing to worry about![/quote']
I'm so glad to hear your surgery went well! Now watch the pounds fall off! Little adjustment period with the diet. But nothing you can't handle!

Congrats on the 22lbs that's amazing! Your like the perfect role model for all of us! Thank you for all the insightful information.
Thank you so much! But I have to be honest, I hardly ate anything for 2 days..Im sure that a lot to do with it..And I was never a back sleeper either..Just give it a few days and you'll feel more comfortable on your side..The body pillow help because you can put it between your knees and it takes a lot of pressure of your side and stomach..Try it out. At points I was so tired I did fall aleep on my back. I was amazed at this! A week from now and you will be able to sleep anyway you want :-)

Wow George!!!!! Congrats!! 22 lbs in 2 weeks!! Fantastic!
Thank you so much!

I should clarify..I was adavanced to puree. I was just so excited that I did not have to drink Protein Shakes 3 times a day, even puree seems like real food now So I am doing the mushy stuff for 4 weeks. However, even this is so much better than full liquid all day!! Hang in there! Dec 4th will be here before you know it..

22lbs!!! Wow George, that is awesome!
Thank you very much! I have to say, the first 2 days of post-op I hardly ate anything. I think that had a lot to do with the huge drop in weight. I 'll take it though..First time under 300 lbs in 10 years Woo-hoo!

How long does it take to get a surgery date what's the different prossesses
Marie
It really depends on the hospital/weight loss program. Generally, after your first consult, it takes 3-6 mos

So I just got home from the hospital- surgery on Wednesday. I'm in pain still. It's sore to the max and I have a big dent and it feels kind of like I got stabbed. Ouch. The pain was a lot worse though' date=' and the nausea was the worst part for the first two days. I was so sick I honestly had regrets at first. Not trying to scare anyone but I need to tell it like it is. Today I'm doing a lot better, I'll take the pain over the nausea any day. And it's getting a little better. This will all be worth it soon.George or anyone else who is a little out can I ask a q? I have what feels like tightness in my sleeve. It feels like it contacts and it will hurt for a second and then feel like I need to burp. Is this gas? I'll gas x help? Or is it something else?[/quote']
Sorry for the delay! I don't know if it is exactly your sleeve. It could , but I'm out sure. You have to remember , this is when the new stomach is most swollen. So you will feel some discomfort for the next few days. Second, and most importantly, you just had major surgery where they filled your belly up with air ! :-) It's normal to be sore everywhere. It took me a food 2-3 days of being home to get rid of all the gas, air, and bring the swelling down. My Dr told me, we have big, internal stitches that if we move a certain way we can feel. Like a little twinge of pain. She explained that people think it's their sleeve but it's not. All normal parts of healing. My dr put me on a med that helps with spasms and gas. It really works. You are doing great. Sounds like normal healing to me. Try to walk as much as you can. Or even sit up. With that said, rest as much as you need to. We still have to remember you had surgery. Now watch the pounds fall of :-)

So I'm 15 hours post op. When I was first waking up I was in a lot of pain and I was nauseas. Now I'm mostly just sore. Getting up to use the bathroom hasn't been to bad' date=' just reaching to wipe can be a little tough. Theyve been giving me torotal sp? To reduce the swelling. I haven't asked for any pain meds. I do keep waking up on and off, but I guess that's expected. I haven't been able to get up and walk other than to the bathroom because I can't stay awake and don't have too much energy yet. I have a pillow on my stomach that really helps with the coughs. I wish I could be a little more independent when I need something but in time. Around 2pm ill go for my leak test and then will hopefully be able to get something down because my mouth is so dry![/quote']I feel your pain! Hang in there, it's almost over. After you have your leak test, they will bring you some liquids. You will much better after something to drink. The Torodol helps with inflammation, It really made me feel better. I slept a lot the next day as well. It's only normal. If I can suggest one thing, is even if your too tired to walk, sit up on the edge of your bed or chair in your room, It will get rid of the air faster. Other than that, take your time. Each day gets so much better I promise. I one week post op and I feel like a different person compared to the day after surgery. Good luck ! Any questions I'm happy to answer

God didnt intend us to do the following:
sit at a desk 40 hours a week
have fast food restaurants with drive thrus
have addictive , chemically engineered food with transfat, salt, sugar, and high fructose corn Syrup
have cars that drive us door to door everywhere were we go
have us watch tv 20 hours a week
have the animals we eat injected with growth hormones, antibiotics, and steroids. Causing our food to be higher in calories and fat.
We could go on and on. If God didnt intend us to have WLS, than he wouldn't have let things become the way they are. We are the fattest country on earth.
